I just arrived in Philly, and this is the first place I go to eat in the city after 8 years of not visiting China Town. Everything about this place is awesome. From management to staff, the vine was chill and welcoming. The dood is poppin. This is my new go-to spot in the city. Yoooo, embrace change and spend time in the new China Town. You may feel old, but the experience is still awesome. Watch my YouTube video @latore lyfe for the upcoming video review

My daughter and I went there for dinner, she got the pork ramen and green tea cheesecake and I had the chicken teriyaki bento box. Everything was so delicious!

My first time going to Yakitori Boy won't be the last.

I made a reservation for 2 at 8:15pm on Friday. We arrived an hour early and were seated promptly - it wasn't very busy.

The decor inside was a little old. It has a rustic, Japanese feel to it. The menu is viewed through a QR code and drink orders are taken quickly.

The food ... oh my gosh - the food was so good! We ordered miso soup, sweet potato tempura, unagi nigiri, kani nigiri, salmon scallion skewer, bacon quail egg skewer, pork belly skewer, eggplant skewer, ribeye skewer, chicken karaage, and grilled squid. Everything but the squid (tough & chewy, not served with tentacles) was just phenomenal!

In my experience, many Japanese places that don't specialize in sushi have so-so sushi. It wasn't the case here. The rice was fluffy & light. The fish-to-rice ratio was very healthy as well.

Miso soup was rich and delicious. The scallions were fresh. There wasn't any seaweed at the bottom like most places have.

Of the skewers, the most notable to me were the bacon wrapped quail eggs & salmon scallion. The salmon had a very thin layer of crispy skin; I've never eaten the skin on a fish before and it was so much tastier than I expected with a wonderful texture. The quail eggs were soft boiled.

Really, it was quite a delicious meal. If I ordered a reasonable portion rather than a veritable smorgasbord with three cocktails, I assume the bill would be well under $100.

Being located in Chinatown means there's no parking, but I'd happily walk three blocks for another quail skewer.

I came here on Friday, June 17 at 11:00 PM and was seated right away. Friend and I got seated at a booth and everything was clean and organized. The sushi roll, shrimp tempura ($7), tastes great. It came with 8 pieces. The yellowtail sashimi was to die for! We ordered 10 pieces. It was so refreshing and tasted so rich. 10/10 would get it again. We ordered three glasses of Pinto Grigio. You can never go wrong with wine and sushi. It was extremely light and went perfectly well with our meal. We also ordered 2 cherry bomb shots ($8 each). It was 3 olives cherry vodka and red bull energy drink. The American Dream Roll ($12) was great. I would say it was definitely a good meal with good company and conversations. The staff were very friendly, cheerful, and energetic. Parking was around the corner and it was good walking distance. Great place for a fun night.

SUPER FAST. I ordered thru Ubereats to my hotel and it arrived in 20 minutes. I ordered the alaska roll, spicy tuna & the yellowtail. It’s super good and the rice has lots of flavor. I ate one of the rolls before I managed to take a picture… couldn’t resist.

I cannot get enough of Yakitori Boy! They have the best vibes, fantastic food, and great staff members!

Have been there on multiple occasions, each time leaving me wanting to return soon. I love happy hour here because of the sushi tacos! I also really enjoy getting the American Dream sushi roll. The drink menu is on point!

Check this place out the next time you are craving a good dining experience with a side of awesomeness!

We came here for a friend's birthday party reserving a private room for 20 people for 3 hours. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The building seems to have 3 floors where the first is general dining while the second floor is private areas.

The private room had a large TV with a monitor for choosing songs. A pre selected menu of options and a call button by the door. The staff arrived very quickly when hitting the button and generally brought food and drinks to us with 5 to 10 minutes. They also had staff coming in periodically to remove trash and empty plates.

The selection of music was varied ranging from old 80s to new age and even kpop music. The best thing was the ability to write notes that come out across the screen.

This was alot of fun we highly recommend coming again. There is a paid parking garage around the corner we suggest using if you drive in.

First time going to a private room style karaoke!!! Amazing Japanese food here, first off. The spicy tuna app is A+! Great yaki ofc! The rooms are a lot of fun and had a great time. It's a bit pricey when it comes to karaoke, but if you're looking for something for a group with a convenient location, this is it! Support local Chinatown businesses!

Awesome food, great service. We showed up right before they closed and they not only sat us but reminded us of last call just in case we needed anything else. The chicken curry was amazing and reminded me of home

Came in on a Wednesday evening, bar of about 10 seats was all full, but decent seats were open in the restaurant. Service was prompt and attentive. Main hit was the food. Ordered bunch of small orders to try everything.

Started off with the mini udon, yellowtail, and 3 pieces of yakitori (beef ribs, chicken scallion, and pork belly). Udon was very flavorful and a pretty big portion for a mini. Yellowtail was very fresh and flavorful. Yakitori was good, but I'd recommend to stay with the traditional chicken ones.

Sushi was so good, so ordered another round. This time was uni, salmon, fatty tuna (not listed on the menu), tuna, and squid. All were very fresh and flavorful. Favorite was the fatty tuna as had that nice silky buttery taste. Uni was second favorite, was happy to find as many sushi restaurants don't have uni. All the fish was extremely fresh. I will return when. I stay in the downtown area again.

Really Really love this place!!!! They have really awesome happy hour specials and I could eat 1000 of these skewers!

They have a free flowing kitchen so it's fun to go and order lots of different things and enjoy them as they come out.

Looking forward to coming back on a Tuesday for their $1 skewers.

Yakitori is an awesome spot, situated on the fringe of Chinatown, for all day Asian bar bites with a sizable drink selection and karaoke. While I haven’t tried the karaoke, the restaurant concept is definitely a favorite in this area when it comes to late night grub and a solid balance of quality and variety.

The dining area is dimly lit with a modern, sleek feel. Service is quick, attentive, and relatively friendly. Their menu is packed with a vast selection of dishes ranging from noodles to sushi to tempura. Most everything is priced and portioned was a small plate to enable you to order and taste a little of everything. Skewers are the clear highlight for value and flavor. I highly recommend the quail eggs wrapped in bacon. Warning: there are three per order so you’ll want more than one skewer!

They do offer a full drink menu as well. Beer selection isn’t impressive for craft beer enthusiasts, but it’s priced appropriately. The wine and cocktail list provide plenty to pick from.

Overall, great choice for a casual, fun night out with adventurous eaters or late night food and drink!

I like izakayas in general, but I was excited to see okonomiyaki on the menu - I tried it without a meat because I knew plenty of yakitori was coming afterwards, and it was still great.

The karaage was not like anywhere else I've had it. It was five GIANT pieces of thigh (pictured) probably 1/3 pound altogether. Not quite as crispy as you get with small pieces, but it was a fun change nonetheless.

The yakitori itself was great. They cut the hearts in a way to make them lie flat, but they were still delicious. And the pork belly made me feel like I was doing something wrong and should keep it a secret - salty, smoky, fatty deliciousness that just calls for another beer!

Prices were pretty reasonable for city prices. The yakitori skewers themselves were cheap. I left fat and happy and that's what matters.

This place was a great find when we were staying in china town. Kelsey S. was our server & she was AWESOME. The vibe is really nice in the restaurant, & the food was on point. If you've never been here before I would suggest asking for the "chefs choice" for the Yakitori & you will be highly surprised. The sake was great & they also accommodated us with some "to go" drinks as well.
