Simply THE best food in Cape May! Each dish is perfectly prepared with fresh, local ingredients and quite simply delicious! Every bite is melt -in-your-mouth flavor. House made breads and in house desserts as well. We had Sea Bass and Grouper entrees. Stunning. And the tiramisu is to die for! Hits in every single flavor note. ❤

The food at Backstreet Simply Delicious was, well, simply delicious! Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and made with obvious care and attention to detail. The menu offered a variety of options, from classic comfort food to creative culinary delights, catering to a range of tastes and preferences.

What truly set this restaurant apart was the genuine hospitality and personal touch.

I was recommended by my good friend to try Backstreet for dinner and I was not disappointed! The food was delicious (my favorite was the pan fried tomatoes). The staff were warm, friendly, and professional. I enjoyed the ambiance as well, it was a small place which makes it feel more cozy. Will definitely be going back this month after the tourist crowds dissipate.

Fantastic Food !! The owners came out to greet us to make sure we were well taken care of. The peach cobbler is fantastic and they have a banana foster dessert to die for. The grouper I had was one of the best I have ever had. Not a bad word to say of this place. Staff is polite and make sure you find your experience a positive one. Thanks!!

My friend Joe told me to check out his family’s restaurant while I was vacationing in Cape May and I am so happy I did. Food was amazing. And best crab cakes I’ve ever had! Homemade bread was so yummy that I took some to the beach with me the next day. But shortly after taking this photo, a seagull swiped a piece out of my hand lol. Sea gull approved! Can’t wait to come back next time we are at the Jersey Shore! Highly recommend 😊

Had been wanting to go here for a long time and was not disappointed. Food was excellent! Everything we had was delicious: bread, appetizers, main course and dessert. Staff friendly and polite. Looking forward to going back again.

Backstreets is super small and definitely off the beaten path, in a shopping center far away from the beach at Cape May. And the food is unpretentious and seemingly simple, but WOW is it ever good. We've enjoyed every meal we've had here; most recently the blackened grouper over sweet potato special, topped with mango puree and sweet cream drizzle, was amazing; my dining partner had chicken franciase, and we both cleaned our plates. The staff is so friendly and welcoming; this place is a real gem.

BYO style local restaurant in Cape May. Great food, no tourists (except us). Loved the crab cakes, and the Yams were dynamite! Order the cobblers early, they were great.

Everything was absolutely amazing. Can't tell you how much we enjoyed our dinner. The service is outstanding as well - the friendliest service in Cape May! 10/10, will be back when you open again next season! Thank you for a great experience!

Excellent service. Excellent food. I went with my family and we all ordered different plates. My boyfriend got the duck entree and I got the Fettuccine Alfredo and added crab to it. TO DIE FOR. Everything was perfectly cooked. Crispy outside with smooth melting insides. It's BYOB so you can bring whatever alcohol you want. I brought a bottle of white wine and they kept it chilled for me. Highly recommend. It's a small place that's easily overlooked, but it's WORTH every penny. I will definitely be returning next time I am in Cape May.

My family and I have been loyal customers for 14yrs now. The food here is consistently wonderful. The service is always warm and attentive. You're not coming here for the ambience- although the dining room is cozy and comfortable. You're coming for the greatest crab cakes ANYWHERE, a carbonara that is almost too good to be true, outstanding pan fried jersey tomatoes with remoulade, the most delicious seafood offerings anywhere at the jersey shore, the perfect rack of lamb "lollipops". Chef T and Tony, please never stop doing what you're doing!

Simply the best dining experience in Cape May this year.
It's now 6/26/22 and my friends and I had a wonderful experience. Gena our waitress incredible as always, actually the whole front if the house staff on that night were incredible. 3 of us that dined have health issues and gratefully they all wore masks. Masks are not comfortable, and their consideration of others really touched me. The FOOD, incredible to the last bite. Thanks 😊

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last summer (2016). He had pan fried sea bass and I had the steak with bleu cheese butter. Both were delicious. The service was great and the BYOB (no corking fee) helped keep the cost down. We were too full for dessert so we brought the entire family (15 aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) back with us for breakfast that weekend. Everyone enjoyed their selections and the bananas foster french toast was to die for. We're planning to go back for the rack of lamb this summer.

Very attentive staff. Our food was simply, absolutely delicious!!! What a gem of a restaurant!! Chicken Francaisse melted in your mouth it was so tender, grilled mixed veggies were roasted to perfection! The cheddar crusted grouper done perfectly. Small place so may need reservations!! You have to visit and partake, you will not be disappointed.

Best seafood in Cape May! Pan fried sea bass was incredible along with the crab cake app! Must go!

Food expertly prepared (lollipop lamb chops and jerk seasoned grouper) in a very comfortable, homey atmosphere. Waitstaff very friendly, and knowledgeable about what is being prepared in the kitchen. My only regret is the 3 hour drive I have to come for dinner. Will definitely return and tell all my friends.

First time here and highly recommend. We started with lobster shrimp bisque and crab asparagus bisque, absolutely delicious. I had the lollipop lamb chops medium rare, perfectly tender, nice seasoning and generous portion (7 or 8 chops). We only wish we had room for desserts because they looked very good, with interesting selection. Small venue, BYOB, one small suggestion is for them to get nicer wineglasses.

Delicious! Had a pan fried black grouper over mashed potatoes, so tender! See you next year!

This is the best place to eat in cape may. If we are within an hour drive my wife will have us pass through this great local joint.
