Always showing a uniquely curated selection or films from the last 100+ years. Always clean and staff are always pleasant.

This place may lack frills such as fountain soda and cup holders but it’s really not an issue. Thankful we have such a place in Center City!

Biggest indoor movie screen in Philly! As Philly Film Society members, we've enjoyed watching classic and new release films in this comfy, renovated theater. Movie prices are reasonable and the staff/PFS volunteers who support the events are friendly and helpful. The theater is close to the Broad Street line and City Hall. The Center also hosts film festivals to support independent filmmakers, plus the Environmental Film Festival.

Oppenheimer! Amazing. A nice little cinema but at times the image did seem to be a little out of focus.

A wonderful new venue for the Philadelphia Film Festival! They’re following strict COVID precautions and the programming is stellar! Check out “Krimes” on Sat, Oct 30th at the Drive In!

Lovely space to go to watch a film. We did the hocus pocus quizzo and movie night, and the host was so fun. Great screen to watch from, and the seats were comfortable. Popcorn was priced fairly and they were happy to give me a cup of water instead of charging me. The staff was really pleasant and nice.

Awesome indie and special film theatre. This was a special preview for "Ford v Ferrari" with the Simeone Auto Museum, the film nor the theatre dissapointed, both were spectacular. The one caveat, bathrooms are downstairs, if you're a slow mover (bad knees or such) be prepared, but without major renovations ($$$$$) what can they do? However, do not let that stop you, go and enjoy whatever they are showing.

A great organization for cinema lovers. A wide variety of events ranging from New film screenings, old classics, interactive events and meetings makes it a perfect social hub for artists. A big stage, room and screen serve a great viewing expirience.

On 03/28/2023 I went to see Night Raiders and listened to Professor Joey Miller (West Chester University/Philosophy) discuss how science and morality within indigenous culture mesh with each other. In this Post apocalyptic film, it blends both old Native American and New Zealand culture to fight against a new regime that has plagued the people of Canada. The movie had great performances by its actors and the atmosphere of the setting was a joy to watch. With there being so much post-apocalyptic content out there I do feel that this movie would have been better suited as a series to explore the different characters backgrounds, and also maybe show how old customs were used to fight against futuristic technology. What I enjoyed most was the topics discussed after the film. Professor Joey Miller had explained how science mostly does not go hand and hand with western morality. I really appreciated the audience output and I even shared some of my own. Had a great night and hope to have more at this theater in the future.

Great local theaters that offer blockbuster showing and classic film showings. I recommend PFS to anyone and everyone in town. I’m a member and can’t recommend membership enough. Staff is always friendly and kind.

The black box theater was great for watching a movie with a group. There are little cafe tables for your snacks. The sound system is excellent, the room shook with the big bass sounds. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The screen is smaller than a big theater, but I didn't mind.

This is a really cool theater. The seating is very comfortable with ample sized seats for larger folks. The screenings are all standard, I believe, so don't expect IMAX or 3d. The snack bar was small, but well stocked. Being in Center City, the prices are a bit higher than in the burbs, but it also means that your within walking distance of great restaurants, to make a well rounded date night. This theater also screens a lot of independent films so you can see a huge variety of different films.

A nice theater, which was called "Prince Theater" before. The air system is really good, which doesn't make it feel unnecessary any cold or warm temprature inside the theater. I had performance twice in there. Piano was tuned and I liked the touch. Bathrooms are very clean. Everything was good and staff are friendly.

Went to Ford vs Ferrari premiere. The film center is terrific, as seats are very comfortable. If you sit in the upper section, all the better. Each row is much higher than row in front. No head blocking. Sound is amazing and screen is perfect size. Not too big and not too small, just right! Conveniently located near all hotels and transit. I loved it.

I always used to walk right by this place paying it no mind, but seeing as though it was one of the only theatres playing Midsommar we thought why not. We were instantly greeted politely, all of the staff were super friendly. We went to the second floor to an intimate theatre with tables. The chairs were uncomfortable, but the intimate setting made up for it. So glad we came!!

Updating my previous review of The Prince Theater, now renamed The Philadelphia Film Center. Valentines Day weekend was also my birthday weekend. As a gift, my girl took me to the film center's special event of presenting all eight Oscar nominated films for 2018, from Friday evening through Sunday evening for $50 per person. One of only a few venues in the entire country that played all eight Oscar nominated films back to back.

A wonderful time for true movie buffs it was. And finally they have a pure butter dispenser for their bit too salty popcorn. But don't mind me because I am not the world's biggest salt fan. My girl likes the popcorn as it is now with 100% butter topping available.

The venue is always clean, particularly the bathrooms that can be the thing of nightmares at other venues at times. The staff is accommodating and the seats are old school comfortable. Sorry, no lean back seats on tap here. Management should make it a priority attaching cup holders to the seats.

All in all a very nice movie going experience. With other upgrades and one of a kind events in the works for this year, the Film Center is on its way to being the watermark standard for movie theaters in the city.

The film center shows contemporary films but also frequently shows classics. I've been able to see some of my favorite films here and at The Bourse. Anyone who loves films should check the upcoming attractions from PFS.

What a cool movie theater experience!!! I had no idea. There’s two movie rooms and you use the elevator to get to them. When you get to your floor, the elevator opens to the movie room. And there are tables with comfy chairs around them. Sort of like a comedy club, minus the noise and grime. I’ve never seen anything like it. Super quiet and intimate experience. Plus you get to sit so close to the screen at eye-level! Amaze.

I just discovered that this place also shows movies when there are not live musical performances going on. It's a great place to see a movie the screen is huge, the theater is clean, and the seats are very comfortable. And there's an added bonus of a small bar in the lobby that sells drinks that you can bring into the theater.
