La Doña Restaurante Mexicano

We (my husband, my two son’s and I) had an early dinner tonight at La Doña in the Carpenter’s Square Mall. (BYOB/BYOT) At 5:00 we were able to be seated, no wait. Outside dining. We ordered four aqua frescas, three Hibiscus flavored and one lemon. The Hibiscus was very tasty and refreshing. My son loved his lemon flavored drink. Appetizers were: prepared at table-side guacamole and chips, which was delicious. Also, chicken empanadas, an appetizer special. The dough was amazing, so light and tasty.
For dinner we had fish tacos (2 orders) carne asada and chicken enchiladas in green sauce. I also had a side of Elote, Mexican street corn. Everything was so fresh and delicious. We then ordered dessert because we oogled another table having dessert and they looked so good. We had spicey chocolate, two orders of flan (best we’ve ever tasted) and tres leche cake. Everything we ate this evening was just so good. Our service was phenomenal from our waiter to refills of water, we were very well taken care of. We let the owner know twice how fantastic everything was. This was the best meal we’ve had since we arrived. So authentic. The vibe, music, food and atmosphere is perfect here.

Amazing food! Guacamole is made in front of you and made fresh! Caesar salad is to die for and perfectly portioned! Lots of flavor and deliciousness :) Staff were wonderful and super sweet ❤ Highly recommend if you’re in the Cape May area

Absolutely loved this place! What a fun ambience and was very clean and airy too. The table-side guac was simply fantastic!! Verde enchilada was so flavorful. Tres leches was yumm!!! The only thing you need to be aware of is that they dont have too many veggie options, but whatever they have, is delicious! It’s BYO.

You can’t go wrong with La Doña! It’s authentic, delicious and all homemade!!

Excellent Mexican restaurant. The food was extremely good. Table side guacamole service was spot on. The creator asked for spice level as well as every ingredient. The waitress was beyond helpful and friendly. She offered recommendations for our food allergy child (toquitos were a hit). The mexican cokes were glorious!! We will definitely be returning in the very near future.

We ate dinner outside under the beautiful sky and gorgeous lighting of this byob and loved every second of it. Authentic Mexican dishes crafted by Lucy, the owner, and her attentive staff. Specials are different every day. They make guacamole TABLE SIDE people. Stop reading this review just to get fresh guac made table side. I had a pablano pepper stuffed with ground chicken, nuts, and raisins. The agua fresca they serve is insanely fresh and they have all the makings of s great drink if you supply the tequila. Well worth a visit, just off a Washington St.

We have eaten at La Dona several times and have never been disappointed. The fresh guacamole and elotes are always my favorite but the tacos and main dishes are also always fresh & delicious.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever. The food is incredible, the staff is so helpful and nice. The owner, Lucy, is there everyday and pours her heart out in everything she makes. You can tell how much everyone there cares as soon as you are greeted.

I had the pleasure of dining at La Doña last afternoon and it was very good. This is the second time I’ve stopped here and it never disappoints. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to myself and my 1 year old. We will definitely be going back in the future!

Top notch! Everything is on point and delicious. The margarita mixes are as fresh and flavorful as you'll ever find (bring your own alcohol to add to them, as it's a dry establishment, or enjoy them virgin; either way they're grrrreat)!

Dropped in. Their own mexican coffee receipe was "delicious"! Guac made fresh at the table was really good. Shrimp cocktail had a great flavor. Great staff!!

This is my all time favorite Mexican restaurant in NJ! They do such a fantastic job. I always make it a point to visit. I love ordering guacamole because they make it right in front of you and it’s always delicious. And make sure to order the homemade juice. It’s incredible!

Great food and super friendly staff!! Try the Elite (grilled corn) and their costilla de res tacos and carne asada tacos! Great outdoor seating under tree cover. Also does fresh margarita mixers, just BYOTequila!

Just had a lovely lunch here.. nice small but really nice menu with really great fresh made drinks. The staff are super friendly.

We’ve eaten here several times, most recently 8/2022. Our group of 8 was seated promptly when we arrived ahead of our reservation. The restaurant was supposedly short-staffed but we did not notice. Our waiter was so lovely with our kids, patiently answered our questions about allergens, and had great recommendations. Best part: guacamole made tableside. They also had a tuna special with a really tasty tamarind sauce that one of my picky eaters declared “delicious”.

I noticed a few negative comments about the hostess and must say we overheard her being berated by entitled-sounding would-be diners who tried unsuccessfully to have her seat them in spite of not having the staff to accommodate them. We called her over to say we noticed her dealing with difficult people and were sorry some tourists are awful and she sent us complementary churros for dessert. Lead with kindness and you tend to get kindness in return 🤷🏾‍♀
