Wow very cool. I lived in philadelphia almost my entire life and never knew this was practically off the highway. I learned so much, and it was fascinating to see everything this place has to offer. They hold very cool events and I would highly recommend a visit. The people there are very pleasant and passionate about what they do.

This is a fun place to spend time before a flight in Philly. It is on the smaller scale but doesn't subtract from the fun. The exhibit set up in the building is setup really nice and I enjoyed looking at it. I hope to make it to one of the reenactments there one year.

This is a place for nerds. If you’re a nerd you will love it. If not, you’ll get bored quickly. We saw a revolutionary war battle re-enactment here and it was exciting. Lots of people dressed in the spirit of things. Speaking of spirits — it’s said this place was haunted by POWs that were housed here. TBH I suspect it was carbon monoxide poisoning because I got light headed after being in the barracks with poor ventilation and a big fire in the fireplace. A run place to run around.

We just discovered this historic gem overlooking the Delaware River by the airport. We came to see the fort in daylight and returned for the evening Ghost Tour, which was excellent! Discovered that this was a British fort captured by Revolutionary patriots. Fort Mifflin played an important role in protecting Philadelphia during the Revolution and thereafter. The costumed interpretive guides were great at answering our questions. You can wander the grounds and enjoy river views by walking along the wall. Some of our night visit photos caught flickering lights. In my Casemate 5 wall photo, I swear there's an image of a face on the wall.

A great value for the price. Our group of 4 adults spent a couple of hours exploring on our own. We learned a lot about the battle fought there and life at the fort.

Great historical location and fort... I use to reenact the civilwar here back in the 1990s with the 12 NJ mifflin guard... this place was one of my favorite sites to explore as a kid... reasonable price to walk through the buildings and check out some history.. Don't forget to go inside the haunted casemate and #6 along with the powder magazine.. it's a good time and it is about a 3 hour tour by yourself

My old paranormal team did an overnight investigation on Friday July 7, 2023. We arrived at 6:30pm and we had the Fort to ourselves until 8am the next morning. Greg, who is in charge, took us on a tour and gave an amazing amount of information on the history of Fort Mifflin. Greg has so much information of the history of all the buildings and of the events that have occurred in the past along with the people. I would recommend a visit to Fort Mifflin just for the historical information and the part that Fort Mifflin has played all the way back to the Revolutionary War. I am not sure if there is a cost to tour the Fort for the history but there is a number you can call and they would be happy to tell you what you need to know. If I find out any of that information, I will edit/update this review. On behalf of being an investigator, Fort Mifflin did not disappoint us at all. I don't want to spoil the film that will be put out on our YouTube channel plus we have a lot of film, photographs and audio to go through. Therefore, I don't even know yet all that may have been captured due to the amount of equipment our team uses. If you are interested in getting a look at Fort Mifflin, not just for the paranormal aspect but for the beauty of the buildings and the scenic view. We are devoted to showing the real, raw footage that we capture. We vowed to always show what we got and let you decide for yourself. If you do make a trip to Fort Mifflin, tell Greg hello from Tara and just enjoy the tour and scenic views. They even have a wedding coming up!!! Remember the name Greg, he is a walking, talking encyclopedia of knowledge and it was incredible to learn so much history, right in our own backyard 😊. Before I finish, I just want to thank Greg again for being the best host at Fort Mifflin. BTW, there is a beautiful area with picnic tables so it is a great place to take the family. Look for the new investigation of Fort Mifflin so don't miss out on not only the paranormal but the historic value of this place.👻😈👻👿

Absolutely worth visiting if you're into historical landmarks and/or haunted places. Some of the areas are SUPER creepy, while other scenes are just so serene and beautiful. The energy shifts around each bend. :) Matt at the desk was friendly, good with the kids and very knowledgeable! The fort is awesome to walk around. Me and my kids did a self guided tour with our own emf readers in hand, which we loved having the place almost to ourselves in the mid week, although I would love to and plan to attend an event there sometime soon to experience it that way as well, at night, minus the children!

Who knew this place was so old and so instrumental in the early days of our nation. Nice to walk amongst history and be able to self guide. I will come back for a night time tour though. Maybe ghosts!!!!

Fort Mifflin, located on Mud Island along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, is a historic site with a storied past. Commissioned in 1771, it played a pivotal role during the American Revolutionary War, particularly during the 1777 Siege of Fort Mifflin, when American forces valiantly defended the fort against British attacks. The fort was later named after Thomas Mifflin, a Continental Army officer and Pennsylvania’s first post-independence governor. Today, Fort Mifflin is a National Historic Landmark open to the public, offering a glimpse into three centuries of American history and a unique natural setting right on the river’s edge. Visitors can explore the well-preserved fortifications and learn about the fort’s significant contributions to America’s military heritage.

Really enjoyed the visit. Ended up arriving a little before the daily tour, which was very informative. Great site and you're allowed to go in pretty much everything and walk the walls. We brought a picnic and watched the planes go by. Unique piece of history and nice change of pace from the center city stuff. Pretty intact and utilized from 1771-1950s so lots of history.

What an awesome monument of history! Super authentic and well worth the $8 to get in.

A lot of the original fort is still preserved and there are even guided tours and ghost tours at night. It's supposed to be haunted and I can definitely see why given the amount of death that occurred in its early years. There are some spooky tunnels and original barracks. 👻

Highly recommend you go earlier in the day and please make sure to pay the fee! Paying to enter is how we continue to preserve our history! 🇺🇲🦅

I suggest going there during daytime and explore the grounds and tunnels yourself, be sure so wear boots as the grounds are wet and somewhat slippery, a flashlight or phone's flashlight will help. Then take the candle lit tour and hear about the amazing history and ghost stories that have happened in the fort, I felt like a kid, I loved the place and if I'm ever anywhere within 2 hours of this area, I'm definitely going back.

The history of Fort Mifflin is quite amazing, to learn that it was built in the 1700's and still holds a special place in our history. The entire place is very nice, we visited during a special event which was very well put together. Take time to check out everything, from the swamp, buildings and casemates. It was a wonderful time

A nice way to spend an afternoon. Just a short drive from Center City. For history buffs, it's on George Washington's Revolutionary Route. It's listed as one of the most paranormal places in the U.S. and you can definitely see why. There's plenty of creepy old rooms and tunnels to explore.

You can walk around the top of the Fort and look down at the interior and the water. Much of the ground is uneven and would be difficult (but not impossible) to push a stroller/wheelchair.

As of 7/23 it was $8 for adult admission and free parking.

Beautiful and educational place! So much fun to walk around on a nice day. There is fantastic history to learn about as well. Highly recommend checking out Fort Mifflin. It’s right near the airport as well, so you see some very cool, very close airplanes flying overhead.

Hidden Gem! Great stop for locals and tourists alike. Good for all ages, my 5yr old military loving kid thought it was so cool.
I did bring flashlights like another reviewer suggested - that was a lifesaver. A lot of people couldn't go into walkways or rooms because they couldn't see anything so I was so glad we had lights!!
There were a lot of amateur ghost hunters trying to summon something 👻 🤷🏻‍♀
Such historical significance, I wish this was better funded just to preserve it all. Walked the outer perimeter and parts of the wall/doorways were being covered by weeds and trees it would be cool of they cleared it and made a real walkway (we were trailblazing honestly)it started with a trail to the river then turned into a jungle.
