Hilltop House Restaurant & Lounge

I was told that this place was pricey but good and they were right on both accounts. I had the Ribeye steak with mixed vegetables, pasta, and a salad. The steak was cooked perfectly and a good charred flavor. The service was good and prompt. Pricey but not overpriced.
I came in tonight November 17th and had the Salmon special with a honey and ginger glaze, mashed potatoes, vegetable medley, salad, French bread, and the broiled stuffed mushrooms appetizer. The meal was good and the staff was awesome as usual. The salmon may have been a little under but still good. I recommend for any occasion but remember to make reservations because they are quite busy.

Older restaurant, kind of small, 70's decor. They could remodel, but it would lose its charm.

Our group of 8 ordered a variety of entrees, and not a single person had a complaint!

The Porterhouse was the evening special the night I was there, so I ordered it. It was cooked to perfection, and had great flavor.

As good as my meal was, I may have made a mistake not ordering the rib-eye? Two people at our table ordered rib-eyes, and they looked really super good! I will try one next time!!!

The mashed potatoes tasted great, with a nice presentation. The gravy drizzle had a very good taste that was on the meat and potatoes. The mixed vegetables were cooked just right, and not mushy.

The bread had an outstanding look and presentation, but didn't have the full flavor I expected, based on the look. The bread truly looks like a masterpiece, and is covered with seasonings. Everyone devoured the bread immediately.

I will definitely return to dine here, and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

A restaurant with a great view, delicious food and an old school ambiance. One of the best steaks I’ve had in a while, the seafood is fresh and tasty. The calamari appetizer was probably one of the best I’ve ever had.

I’ve been here twice while visiting, and had a great time both trips. Would definitely recommend.

8/1 Had a great Anniversary dinner. Had an amazing waitress. The food was great. Everything I ate was delicious. The dirty martinis were tasty and to finit all off with a slice of chocolate.

Took my Mom out to dinner here, one of those just because I love her occasions. It had been almost 20 years since I had been here but I remembered it was a good place for a sit down meal. The weather was great and the drive over from Roseburg was worth the effort.
Mom had the Surf and Turf I had the Rack of Lamb. For appetizer we had the Crab and Artichoke dip. I had a taste of Mom's New York Steak and wow, very flavorful. The Lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned. The garlic mashed potatoes was a good choice of side. The dinner salad's are worth a special mention. The cuccumbers, carrots were mildly pickled and the pepperincinis made the salad say, "Just wait till you see your entree." Best salad ever! If I had one criticism I blame myself for not asking to have my blue cheese dressing for my salad on the side. For me amount was too generous and took away from the very crispy freshness of the lettuce. From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable, the staff we met were pleasant and personable. For the first time in a long my Mom was very happy with a dining experience, for me that made my whole millenium. The view wasn't too bad either. Thank you.

Excellence in dining! This wonderful restaurant was recommended to us by a family member and I am so glad we went. The clam chowder had huge clams! It was actually a clam chowder, not potato soup with some minced clam sprinkled in. A true delight! I had steak medallions covered in asparagus, crab, and a bearnaise sauce. It was truly to die for. Large lumps of crab made this luxurious dish worth every penny. My husband had the rack of lamb. The lamb was delicious. The staff was kind and attentive. A wonderful experience and a beautiful view.

Valentines reservation. Wish we could have been in the restaurant instead of the lounge. But that was a lack of planning on my part. The food was amazing! The staff was great and very attentive. Even though they were packed.

It's definitely a gem. Will be back. The food was awesome. The service was excellent.

Amazing quick service for 13 guests. Our server was attentive and very friendly. Had the seafood pasta and it was AMAZING. Will return again, again and again. Would definitely recommend.

Quaint place with friendly people. Highly recommend the crab and artichoke dip. A close second, the stuffed mushrooms. Enjoyed them so much that I forgot to take photos.

Husband and I traveled to the Coos Bay Area for his 69th birthday in September. Went to the Hilltop to celebrate. The meals were amazing. Had halibut and lobster tail. Carrot cake and layered dark chocolate cake followed. Window seat to the bay and memories. Coming back in Nov. for my 68th birthday. It was that good.

This was our first time at this restaurant, and it did not disappoint service was amazing. The food was incredible and the atmosphere was delightful. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hidden gem... the Boston clam chowder was on point and my well done steak was so good. I can't end without talking about the presentation my jasmine rice came in small cube that was exceptionally delicious with the vegetables. If you ever visit Coos bay, check them out

Rack of lamb,seafood lasagna steak all delicious. Excellent service. This is where I take out of town guests. They never dissapoint.

Hilltop house is an institution not to be missed. Fine dining or bar & lounge. Amazing sunsets, fresh ingredients , classic dishes, local wine, premium alcohol. Don’t miss the New Orleans style oysters.

We love to come here and get the Filet Mignon. I really like their Bernaise sauce. Everything was perfect as well as a great view.

Had a wonderful dinner double date here last weekend. The calamari appetizer was perfectly cooked and delicious. Everyone loved their meals, I got the Pastitsio (seafood lasagna) and it was fantastic! Rich and flavorful without being too heavy, and the fresh seafood really shines through.

I had coffee with dinner. It was served in a little insulated pot to keep it fresh, and it was delicious. I'm a coffee nerd and am usually underwhelmed by restaurant java, but this was excellent.

Our server (Harmony?) was friendly and funny, providing great service and very helpful feedback on questions we asked about the food. We would come back just to see her again!

We were also lucky enough to catch the sun set over the bay and dunes, our window seat afforded a beautiful view.

We had a great meal, and will definitely visit again when we return to Coos Bay.
