I cannot express how amazing this restaurant is! The food, the ambiance, the service, it’s spectacular. I absolutely loved the garlic shrimp and the fish special (I forgot the name of the dish) but it was packed with flavors. It included risotto, shrimp, artichokes and tomatoes. It was one of the best seafood dish I’ve ever had. I also recommend the chocolate cookie dessert. It had chocolate fudge inside and vanilla gelato on top. It was the perfect dessert to end our meal. I highly recommended this restaurant. I’m already looking forward to going back!

The Poached Pear Bistro is a GEM!!! You will experience a “food-journey” of flavors, a casual elegant atmosphere, and impeccable sauces that complement each dish! I could not stop ordering! Fabiana, she was one of the best servers I’ve ever had the pleasure to be served by! She is very knowledgeable of the menu and has a very sweet and personable attitude with a passion to give you a food experience like no other! You must enjoy the duck ravioli with a butternut squash purée is unreal! The crab cake with a touch of asparagus, roasted red pepper, and marinated portobello mushroom, then a lite dip into the Meyer lemon aioli is a food fusion!! A superb and classic French onion soup crockpot with perfectly melted Gruyère cheese & crispy fried onions on top that stay crispy even after a few dips in the soup! Go ahead and clear your pallet with a scoop of their homemade pear sorbet!! The Apple Cider brined pork chop just melts after your first bite of each cut! The plate is perfectly arraigned with a red cabbage marmalade, brown grain mustard, caramelized apples & a bourbon cider reduction!! Chef’s rack of lamb (domestic, no game flavor) with a Madeira garlic reduction, is so savory and tender !! I didn’t stop, I couldn’t, it just gets better, they had a special of Corvina fish, very flaky and mild over a perfected Parmesan risotto with lightly grilled shrimp in the best lemon beurre blanc sauce ever! Fabiana then guided us through the dessert menu and even more so with additional desserts! The very nicely warmed bread pudding topped with a sweet pistachio crepe on top and a slightly chilled crème anglaise that just adds an extra dose of sweet heaven to each bite, take your time enjoying that!! Oh, a classic bistro dessert, Chef Teah’s carrot cake goes great with the selection of teas, I will be returning to enjoy both of those again with an ice-wine!! The Poached Pear Bistro is a must do dining experience!!!! You will be comfortably overwhelmed with the culinary art and perfectly paired sauces and sides that compliment each other on every dish! A perfect place for a date night, anniversary, or any occasion! It is a BYOB, no worries about what wine to bring, there is a dish to compliment any varietal of wine of your choosing. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming with two sides to the restaurant, lighting is perfectly pitched and wall art to commend an elegant layout ! Chef Scott is very humble and assisting within his team as he casually greeted guests at the door, assisting his wait staff, even as far as polishing the table a glasses before the next table is sat!! He has and delivers a true passion of being a restaurateur !!

This dining experience was excellent. We had to take an early reservation to get in. Well worth it. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable about the dishes. This restaurant had a good amount of gluten free choices. We started with the French onion soup and salad. Both excellent. I had a special which was lobster on top of a crab cake, with spinach and mashed potatoes. I enjoyed every bite. My husband loved the pork. He does not care for mustard and they were accommodating and omitted it. I tried his dish, so good! For desert we enjoyed the flourless chocolate cake. Another hit, would get that again. This restaurant is bring your own. We are very much looking forward to going again.

My sister treated me to dinner here. We entered and weren’t greeted warmly by the gentleman at the host stand. We did not have a reservation which seemed to affect his demeanor. He seemed put out at having to find a table for us when there were only maybe 2 other tables occupied at 5 pm. He said he’d have to ask if he could find one! Seriously?! Not off to a great experience. We were finally given a table very close to the entrance. I observed his greeting other patrons while we were there, smiling to those who had reservations , hugs to those “ regulars”, very welcoming. What did we do wrong ?
Our server was wonderful! She explained the specials checked on us regularly . Our meal was presented beautifully. Everything was fabulous. Thank you for the pleasure of dining at your restaurant.
But you do need to have a sit down with him. My money is just as green, maybe not as much as some, but I deserve the same welcome as those “ regulars “ and those with reservations .
UPDATE… the gentleman at the door HE’S THE OWNER!

Excellent service and meal. I have celiac and there are many gluten-free options from starters to desserts. And you can get their soups to go! I highly recommend The Poached Pear!

This is an absolutely outstanding restaurant. Fine dining in a casual atmosphere plus BYOB.

The owner Mark is very friendly and accommodating (he took an item off the bill without hesitation when there was a mixup about an appetizer we ordered), the chef Scott is truly a culinary genius, and our server Eric was attentive and efficient.

The menu is creative, the food is expertly prepared and very delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. There is parking directly behind the restaurant in its own lot, as well as on the street. There are also sidewalk tables for outside dining.

For appetizers I had the garlic shrimp and my wife had plain grilled shrimp (made to order for her since she can't have cream sauces). The grilled romaine lettuce with bacon was large enough for two people to share. For dinner my wife had an amazing pan seared chicken and I had corvino (a white fish) with shrimp and couscous. The raspberry sorbet and peanut crunch gelato for dessert were wonderful.

You need to book well in advance because reservations fill up quickly because this restaurant is so popular. Definitely a place to go for outstanding food and service. We will return next time we are in the area.

We ate here the other night and really enjoyed our meals. The corn bisque and lobster bisque were excellent and the short rib carpaccio was delicious!

For dinner, we tried a variety of dishes. The lamb chops were very good, as were the scallops. But our favorite entree was the pork chop, which was cooked perfectly and delicious!

We would absolutely come back!

This is our 2nd time here for dinner and we absolutely loved it!!!!. It was my birthday so we made reservations for a special evening. My husband had the Veal and I had the Crab Cakes. They were the best I had EVER had!!. The aoli sauce was incredible!! I can't believe how great they were. Our server was Nick and he was exceptional! I have never had such great service. He was beyond amazing!! He came out at the end of our dinner with a candle in a mini bowl of vanilla ice cream for my birthday! So thoughtful!! What a amazing experience and we were so over the moon delighted!! We were to full to eat dessert so we took it to go, tiramisu and rice pudding. My husband's Veal was also delicious and tasty!! Can't wait to go back!!!!.

I had the most delicious dinner at the Poached Pear this past Labor Day weekend. I was lucky to get a reservation (as a single) and I must say it was wonderful. The food was extraordinary and the service impeccable. I was greeted at the door by one of the owners and also noticed his easy and friendly manner with his customers. Also, the decor and ambiance was pleasing and comfortable. I hope to experience the Poached Pear again next summer.

Went there yesterday for our 5 year anniversary and the experience was top notch from start to finish. We arrived and realized it was a BYOB, they allowed us time to go get a bottle of wine. Sat us when we returned and from the service to the food to the presentation to the ambience it didn’t disappoint. We highly recommend this establishment and thank them for making our day extra special.

Outstanding all around. Everything was delicious. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. No wonder why it was rated one of the best restaurants in NJ. Came to celebrate a milestone birthday for my mom, and everyone left extremely satisfied. First time here but won’t be the last. Thank you!

PS - The carrot cake dessert was the BEST carrot cake I’ve ever had and NEEDS to be a permanent fixture on the dessert menu!

We dined at Poached Pear this week. It was our second time there. Both times the food and service were top notch. They have a great menu and really good specials. Our server Cherie was really great. She is both pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. We will look forward to our next visit!

Street parking, which was free. BYOB. Reservations were made for 5pm, but not necessary, for 5-6pm on a Sunday. Tables are close, music low, with so few tables filled, you could hear all conversations(they opened at 5). Sandy was our server, who was friendly, attentive and made great suggestions. Bravo to Sandy! Food is reasonably priced and the byob stops you from breaking the bank. The food...
Apps
Cajun fried calamari-top 5 calamari I've ever had. Crispy, not chewy, with a creole sauce. The husband prefers it with marinara sauce, sauce didn't matter to me.
Corn Bisque- YUM! YUM! YUM! I'm not a huge fan of soups/bisques/chowders, but say "corn" and i'm all in! The bisque was smooth as silk, with just the right amount of bacon crumbles and goat cheese to give it some bite. I shared this with the husband
Main courses
Lobster, crabcake and spinach inside a fried wonton wrapper over a truffle potatoes-this was one of the specials of the night. This was really good, lobster was shelled and laying on top of a crabcake inside a fried wonton shell.
Anchor coffee rubbed NY strip-the husband had this and it wss pretty amazing 👏 I preferred this over thr lobster (for real). Idk if it was a case of FOMO, or that it was actually better than the lobster. Meat was seasoned well, cooked perfectly that it melted in your mouth. It comes with a risotto and some asparagus fries, but he also ordered a side of fries. The fries are pretty basic, delish but nothing extraordinary---it was fries.

We passed on dessert, because all of the above was very filling. Highly recommend, and byob!!

We had the pleasure of Nick being our waiter. By far the best waiter I have ever had. It was my 31st birthday and he sure made it wonderful. Then speaking with the owner about how much we enjoyed it and how lovely Nick was - his reaction made it so worth going the extra mile to express how much we loved his business. I told all my family members and I will make sure to go there everytime I visit point pleasant. Beautiful place, the food was MAGICAL. All around one of the best places I have been to!

Had a reservation for 5:45pm. We were taking my parents out for dinner, and had outdoor seating. My parents are very sensitive to temperature so we arrived early and requested indoor seating if possible. They graciously helped us out and got us an indoor seat (THANKS!)

Ordered food and everything was amazing. The halibut was tremendous. The desserts were tremendous.

Great service, great food, great all around experience!

The menu was amazing, and the food - from appetizers, to entrees, to desserts - was incredible. Delicious, beautifully presented, unique flavors and combinations. Every table was full, but the atmosphere was NOT deafening, as seems to be the norm at many eateries these days. We LOVED it and will definitely return!

Had a great dinner here with friends tonight. Very pleasant experience - and was nice to have a fine dining restaurant in Point Pleasant. For appetizers we had the asparagus fries, the duck ravioli, and shrimp and parmesan on crostini. For dinner we had the lobster and crab cake, pork chop, the lamb chop, and the duck breast with foie gras. Everything was delicious and of course we needed to get dessert! We got one of each thing- the lemon napoleon, the flourless chocolate cake, bananas foster, and the carrot cake. Service was great, food was even better.
