Kim's Barber Shop

Exactly what I was looking for - a local old school, no nonsense, professional barber. Walked in, got my cut, straight edge shave of sideburn edges and back of neck, at a reasonable price and with little chit chat. Full stars from my perspective.

That being said, this is not a trendy, high end, super modern hair salon type experience which some may be looking for. Just new school vs old school difference. If looking for the latter, this place is a good choice.

Very skilled barber as I get skin fades. It is a no frills but clean environment. Cash only.

Perfect place for a haircut if you like:
- high and tight skin fades (what I get)
- highly skilled barbers (that's Mr. Kim)
- old-school vibe and decor
- not having to hope 1 of 5 barbers you land as a walk-in is actually experienced and not gonna butcher you
- paying cash (don't think he accepts cards)

Probably not the place for you if you prefer:
- big screen tv's and loud music (no frills, straight cuts)
- enjoy conversations or therapy sessions with your barber (man wears a mask and doesn't do small talk)
- custom designs or you're very particular about the particulars
- booking appointments through an app or online
- paying with venmo or some other non-cash method (old school)

And for those 1-star reviewers that felt Mr. Kim was rude or short with you - I GET IT BUT...as a Korean myself, I can promise you it's genuinely a culture/language barrier.

My son and I have been going to Mr. Kim's Barber Shop, conveniently located at the northern end of Washington Avenue, for the better part of three years. Mr. Kim is pleasant, skilled and his services are moderately priced. While the store isn't exactly modern and in-your-face, it is well-maintained and clean. Moreover, with the ongoing pandemic, an appointment is required, and Mr. Kim is taking precautionary steps to work with his clients in a very safe environment. Highly recommended.

Mr Kim always takes the time to give me the best haircuts. I live in California but I always try to see him whenever I get the chance to come here. Before when I lived in new Jersey I saw him every time and he always did the best job. Highly recommended!

I just randomly found this place on Google a couple of months ago, I decided to go in based on the reviews and they were all right! Super friendly guy named Kim who is always there took care of me. I told him what I wanted and he made my hair look great. I've been going for a couple of months now and I totally recommend it.

Got a fade and a trim on top for a great price! $20+tip for adult men, perfect! Kim took me in immediately without an appointment and took his time with the cut. Great barber with clean utensils.

My usual barber still wasn’t open so decided to try someone new. Mr Kim is a great barber and did a great job. The shop is clean and comfortable. I am going to bring my sons here to get their haircuts here now.
