BEWARE!!!! MUST READ!
We've used Paychex for a year or so with no problems. Recently we had a Major Security Breach in Paychex. They felt it perfectly acceptable to send a former employee personal information through a private email when they called lookimg for there W2. We are not sure how much information was leaked because Paychex will not come clean. They reason why we know this is the the former employee called and was ranting about information that should not had access to. This is a huge problem which Paychex is writing off as "No big deal". While their service is OK the Privacy breach is totally unacceptable. So beware when this service!!!

I've called every day this week and no matter the time I wait for 30 minutes to 45 minutes on hold without ever getting to speak to a representative. I have never had this issue ever with a different company and am shocked companies still use paychex. They are either well under staffed or just refuse to answer their da.n phones.

If you have a small business and need payroll/tax services, DO NOT use this company. I'm actually about to fire them and move the service to their competitor. There were numerous incidents over the year that got me upset but the following is what finally prompted me to terminate their service and if you're a current customer, I urge you to do the same.

This was about my company sending 1099 to my contractors.

Originally the request to send them all the 1099s was made in January to Paychex. Paychex was supposed to contact all contractors, collecting their addresses and social security numbers. I found out that those calls were never made. So I personally called my contractors frantically to collect those information. After that, I submitted the spreadsheet to Paychex with their assurances that 1099 will be sent out "within a week". What I didn't know until last Friday was that one of the representatives entered those information as something from 2024, instead of 2023, therefore 1099 was never sent out and I might not have found out at all if I hadn't called Paychex in for something else and checked in while I was on the phone.

Even then initially Paychex insisted that they would need 72 business hours to have the wages moved and new 1099s would be created (that would have been after the tax deadline next Tuesday which would be unacceptable) so I had to take this up to the management level, and finally I just finished emailing all 1099s to my contractors.

Because of these incidents, I fired Paychex.. This probably should have happened when I found out that the calls were never made. With high turnovers of the representatives (they changed my representative every 2 months the whole time I was with Paychex), I don't know what's going on with the company but I would never recommend them. If I could do zero star, I would absolutely would.

Just to contact them is a long process. i waited on the phone and when the representative finally picked up they said nothing and did nothing. i heard them in the background and their kids in the background. for like a couple of seconds then they hung up. i had to call a few times to finally get in touch with someone. I called to report labor fraud but they did not have i guess an action plan. They need to E-verify I-9's.

This company is the worse. The employees don't know what the hell they are doing. They never filed my quarterly taxes, when I received a notice from the state and sent it to them that's when they filed it and because of late filings I received a penalty which they are suppose to be responsible for, but instead they are taking more money from me. I spoke with the supervisor and he seems like he don't know what the hell he is doing himself. I am so tired of going back and forth with them. When I first sign up, the clerk that signed me up was so helpful after that he said I can't help you, I will put on to someone who can." I would never recommend them to anyone. WORSE PAYROLL COMPANY EVER.

I would love to inform anyone considering using this company that obtaining access to account information answers, or anything important, won't be obtained by giving them a simple phone call. Rest assured, the service is horrendous. I was on hold with them forever, and nobody answered. They also promised a callback, which happened, only to put me on hold again.

Worse payroll company ever. PLEASE DO NOT USE this company, they are a scam. They sell you plans that sound great but always end up taking more and more money out of you. Even when you cancel the service they keep stealing your money and keep saying is some other department deal, and oh! they forgot to mention these fees...Every week a new forgotten to mention fee will appear. They are a nightmare rat!
Even they bill department person I called warned me about the sales people because they screw everybody lying to make a sale!

I wish I could give zero stars. They messed up our weekly payroll. In order to fix THEIR mistake, they somehow took an additional $3k+ from our bank account. Was told the money would be received back within 3-5 business days. That was over a month ago. Quick to take the money but not too quick to return it. HORRIBLE customer service

Absolutely horrible company! BEWARE of using them for payroll. 1. there are cheaper and more competent companies to use. 2. They will lose your paperowrk when you cancel and then sue you to get the balance owed to them even though you haven't used them in 7 months. Insanity, should be illegal.

Originally got this for my business, but when I called PAYCHEX to stop billing me due to the fact that they were terrible about answering the phone and when they did, nobody really seemed to know anything. I asked them to shut off my service and after getting ping-ponged around to different departments I finally was told that it would be shut off and that I would receive no more bills or money withdrawn from my bank account.. They agreed to do it. Unfortunately what I didn’t realize is that they decided it was appropriate to continue billing me! So if you are looking for an absolutely disgusting parasite of a “service“ who will continue to bill you, even though you’ve had their agreement to shut off the service you’ve come to the right place. If you’re looking for a service where when you call to get an answer, you will be on hold for almost 30 minutes and then be told that you’ve called the wrong department only to be sent to another department and told the same thing, then you’ve come to the right place. if you’re looking for a service that will assign you a “specialist“ who never answers the phone and then you come to find out a month later that they were supposed to assign you somebody new, because he no longer works there you’ve come to the RIGHT PLACE. I don’t know how these corporations keep getting away with doing this to the people of this country but I hope I live to see the day where it stops.
