I LOVE this market! I work in the neighborhood and have been coming here at least once a week for the past couple of months since discovering it. Reasonable prices, EXCELLENT customer service. A couple recurring purchases have been the house made chocolate cake and prepped salmon and rice dish. Won't be returning to Whole Foods since finding this gem.

Great local groceries. Whole foods quality at safeway prices. Good deli and bakery with fresh coffee. Good vegan and vegetarian choices.

Great unique market! There are various interesting foods and products you don’t normally find in other grocery stores. They have nice outdoor seating and a small cafe inside where they serve wine as well! Was very happy to find the butter I’ve been searching for so long too🥲

Wow, I was looking at a property around the corner and stumbled upon this gem.

With so many things to offer, I realized I was having a bit of analysis paralysis and so asked the lady behind the counter what to get, turns out it was the owner and she was spot on with her recommendations. I later found out she's an iron chef to boot.

Mirna Attar and her husband John were both behind the counter making fresh dough together, it was quite cute.

The fried chicken with middle eastern spicing was incredible. The Greek salad was a real Greek salad, and the meat pizza dough was delicious.

Here's some background on the owners I found online..."John Attar of SW Portland's international grocery store Barbur World Foods, will occupy the space most recently held by Local Choice Produce Market come February. The 10,000 sq. ft. space will feature a produce department with organic options, meat and seafood section with a butcher shop, a chef-run deli and catering service (run by Attar’s wife and owner/chef of Ya Hala Lebanese Cuisine, Mirna Attar, winner of the 2013 Portland Iron Chef competition) and beer and wine bar for tastings and service."

I love this little store! The people are FANTASTIC! Super kind, friendly and helpful. I hugely appreciate that and hope they keep being awesome. Some of the specialty items can be a bit expensive but there's usually a selection. All of the usual items are fair or even competitively priced. I love their deli and produce sections. Everything is fresh and delicious. Cheers to World Foods being a staple despite the times!

What a fantastic first impression. Went in with very little knowledge about cuts of meat and left with the most delicious cuts I have ever tasted. Rik was such a pleasure to meet. Super knowledgeable, kind, friendly and helped me overcome my intimidation of the meat world. That man deserves a raise!!!! I took everything he suggested and made the best meal, my husband was VERY pleased. Will definitely be returning and recommending to all my friends and family.

We were told this place has not only groceries but premade food - and that premade food was GREAT! Perfect spot for a quick bite. We also happened to meet the owner and what a treat! Good conversation, good food, excellent coffee! We are from out of town and are planning on going there before we leave to take some of the great selection of groceries home with us. Love that this is a small business and you will not be disappointed in supporting them!

It's my go-to for gourmet, prepared food, and other exotic items. This is an upscale grocery in an upscale area and you will not have Costco pricing by any means although that can be had at the either Safeway location in downtown or the Target City.

Great market. Beautiful produce, cheeses and amazing selection of wines and beers. They also serve great teas and coffee!

I absolutely love this place. Would shop here daily if I lived here. Was cooking for the week and enjoyed this store immensely. Super nice people, great selection and fantastic coffee.

Not only do they have a great selection of international groceries, but this is a great place to get a tasty, healthy, and inexpensive lunch if you are in the area. They have hot and cold deli items, a coffee bar, and nice outdoor seating.

SUCH nice ownership and diverse international options! The Mediterranean deli has so many fresh, delicious choices, and I’m always tempted to leave with something new and exciting. I’ve always liked this specialty store, but the special events are an added bonus with a great communal vibe. The recent birthday celebration was a blast - tons of international samples and Mediterranean food galore!

The best neighborhood spot in the pearl district!!! and for visitors as well , it fronts as just a local grocery store but if you go inside you’ll find out it’s so much more 👌🏾

My favorite takeout!

They had fresh squeezes orange juice which was made right in the store itself. When I couldn't find a particular hot sauce that I liked the staff spent a long time searching for a suitable replacement. The sauce that they ended up giving me actually turned out to be MUCH better than the one that I was first looking for. I also really appreciated the extra time and energy that the staff spent on helping me, which they did even though it was almost closing time.

A wonderful little specialty shop in the middle of downtown PDX. I was struck with two products from our recent travels, so took pictures of them for my wife.

But the best part of this place is the coffee and wine bar that had a nice little happy hour. A magical conversation sprung up between three different groups of people who came together at the same time for a drink and a bite to eat.
