Skinner Butte Lookout

My family & I love coming here. Its kind of a special place for us. Amazing view of Eugene & breathtaking view of the mountains. Drive up to the top always freaks me out tho, its unnerving cuz it's pretty steep!

I brought friends from out of town to Skinner Butte Lookout, and we really liked the views of Eugene, which you can see for miles on a clear day. They say, Skinner Butte was the start of the city of Eugene. There is limited parking at the top of the butte.

The playground has a small rock wall, climbing, sliding, and swinging, but also has a pretend "village" to really spark imaginative play.

The nearby river is beautiful, and you can sit on the shore and watch fish, birds, and turtles. There's also the butte itself, with gorgeous scenery and hiking on easy, clearly marked trails.

Just amazing.

Went here for the 2023 annular eclipse with my wife! Us and several hundred more people stood up on this beautiful lookout to watch! It is a really pretty place.

Great place in Eugene to get good views of the city. Nice walk from the parking lot.

It’s a beautiful piece of nature pie in the middle of downtown Eugene. There’s trails to hike. A two way road up to the top with a parking lot; and a great view of the sky, horizons, and wild bird life. I go there for the birds.
It’s my public sanctuary.
It’s also a veterans memorial so there’s a lot of diverse people at any time.

Great view of the city and surrounding area. Trails, rock climbing and park nearby.
Popular spot to go for sunsets but parking lot can get crowded very fast. I recommend to come early for sunsets or park near the bottom by Skinner Butte Park and walk the trails up. Please remember don't litter and pick up trash if you see it. Help preserve these areas for future generations.

One of my favorite places no matter what the weather is.

I love it here. This park was dedicated to mary skinner and eugene skinner. Which whom i am related to on my mothers side. Its truely nice to visit a park dedicated to my family <3 I definitely will be coming back here soon.

Sharing in the history of Eugene is always a treat. Learning about the tiny shack sky observatory while looking out over the 360° views of the city are INCREDIBLE!! You can see EVERYTHING from up there. Then you head down to the park & run out the energy. Thank you City of Eugene!

I've lived in, and around Eugene most all of my life, and the Skinner Butte Lookout is still one of the brightest spots of this city & all of Lane County. Was up there most recently, a week ago, and it was magnificent! The weather was perfect, & so was the view.

Good uphill bike ride to some lovely views of the city and plenty of hiking. Worth checking out.

Fun place but crowded

Love this place. Wish it had more space for sitting but it's still the best spot in Eugene to get a good view

Such a great hike in the middle of town when you want to get out and do something quick but don't have time to travel out to the mountains.

It'll be better in the summer time when you can see everything. Besides the douche bag in the diesel truck trying to do a burn out it was a nice area.

5🌟 Been going there since I was a kid. Great area for all kinds of recreational activities. Rock climbing , hiking, biking, etc. Centrally located in the heart of Eugene, Oregon. Overlooking my favorite city in the Pacific North West.

Best view in town! Nice place to stop and take a moment to adjust your perspective. Nice trail, and rock climbing just down the hill. Clean parking lot and an area with picnic benches.

Lovely little trail to hike or run up, especially in the morning. If you are lucky, you may catch a sunrise(or sunset). Nice Panoramic views of quaint little Eugene from the top. Finish your jaunt by stopping by Morningside Cafe at the trailhead which serves delicious breakfast.
