Momiji Sushi Restaurant - Barbur

I've driven past Momiji many times and never even noticed it. I found it because I was looking for a local sushi place that's open on Sundays. This sunny Sunday six of us met at Momiji for a late lunch and had a great experience. I ordered the sampler with the blackened tuna sashimi (yum!), some ngiri, a couple of rolls, miso, and cucumber salad. For $32 this sampler is an incredible deal! It fed two of us and we gave away a few pieces. The menu contains more cooked fish than raw, but hey, this is America. My friends ordered a wide variety and it all looked good. I like that they offer mini rolls too. They don't have sake but you can use the crosswalk and get sake at Safeway, as well as finding a restroom. We sat at the outdoor picnic tables inside a wooden fence, and any road noise was quickly forgotten. It's set back from Barbur Blvd by a couple of lanes. The waitress was friendly and the kitchen efficient--our orders arrived quickly. The cook had rolled my wasabi into a ball and pressed sesame seeds into it to make a smiley face. Another woman (the proprietor?) was visible while we were eating and wiped down all the surfaces in the front of the restaurant. It is pollen season, after all. The parking area was in the shadow of a billboard and our cars were nice and cool when we came out. My main disappointment was that I didn't find Momiji sooner! We will be back, thank you!!

Fantastic options and a very affordable lunch special. Always quick and pleasant at the counter. The One Roll is literally the best sushi I've had in my life.

I’ve always had a good experience with the food here. My family and I love ordering take out from this location. We especially love the miso sexy roll and the salmon premium roll. Definitely worth the money.

Some of the best takeout sushi in town easily. I’ve never had a bad roll and it’s always ready when I get there. Their online order system is top notch too, super easy to see what you’re getting in each roll!! Loooove this place!!

Rolls where delicious 😋 affordable and decent size. It's a cute place not a lot of space to dine in but the set up works.

Best sushi I have had not just in Portland, but anywhere. AMAZING items on the menu because they always use such fresh, great ingredients. Easily my favorite place in Portland!! Visit here!! Or order on DoorDash (what I do), since the quality doesn't fade at all via delivery.

Fish were fresh. The quality was good. Slightly pricier than the two other places we go to in Tigard and Beaverton but this is 5mins from our place and most places are closed on Christmas eve. I will pay the convenience! We got our order in early and they were ready way before our supposed pick up time. It was fine because we didn't order hot food. They must had 20+ orders to fill when we picked up ours. Staff were helpful.

Never been in person because the delivery just makes it easier, but Holy cow this place is awesome! I've never had sushi stay so fresh that I could eat it the next day, so major points there. But as far as pricing and quality goes,this place cannot be beat! Momiji Sampler and the Luna Roll are both my top recommendations here, we order at least once a month and it's always spot on.
My only real pet peeve with this place is the amount of rolls with cream cheese in them, which is definitely something I just won't do. But I've never had anything bad from this place!

It was the freshest most flavorful sushi, well worth the stop and quid recommend if you have time to stop in.

Good food for the price

Sushi is always great here. Super fresh and delicious. Prices are reasonable considering the quality. Location is great but parking can be tricky. Totally worth it though. Love this place!

This was outstanding sushi! Super fresh and amazing flavors. Since they just opened, expect to wait a bit longer than they estimate because they are very busy, especially at dinner time. WELL WORTH THE WAIT. We ordered Sweet firecracker roll, Spicy Mango roll, Jalapeño roll and Kickboxer roll. All fantastic! I am so excited that we have this new option on this side of town!!

Solid sushi at a decent price! My order was available quickly even though they were clearly busy. I like that they have an interesting variety of rolls in their menu.

The sushi is fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced. During the winter plan on take out as the indoor seating is limited and cramped. In the summer the outdoor seating is fine although the noise from Barbur Blvd detracts a bit.
The counter staff (where you order) are helpful,, friendly, and seem to know the menu very well. A nice experience overall.

Lunch specials, Tuesday two-for-one chef specials, the handful of donburi options, and the "beginner sushi platter" are especially attractive deals.

The selections are not rigorously traditional. After all, this is a chain that originated in central Oregon (Salem) and spread from there.

Preparation is quick. Service is friendly. Orders have been very accurately filled, in my experience, even during the 2020 height of the pandemic when good help was hard to find or retain.

The food was delicious and for a reasonable price for sushi. Very clean inside and employees were super nice. Heavily recommend.

I celebrated a promotion here with family. We grabbed sushi to go and it was delicious! Highly recommend the Tiger Roll!

We've eaten here 4 times so far and can't quit! We're still working our way through the menu, but everything we have tried so far is fantastic. My wife has decided she cannot live without the blackened tuna appetizer - it is the best we've had outside of Hawaii and SE Asia. Every roll and nigiri we've tried has been fresh and well created. The tempura veg appetizer is crazy good too - veg super fresh and the tempura is light and perfect. The miso soup is flavorful, full of tasty seaweed, and impressive for just a side. By the time we finish, we're already planning for our next order! So happy this place moved in near us - see you all again next week! (PS: The entire staff have been super nice and helpful!)

Delicious! Exactly what I had hoped it would be when I saw a sushi spot opening in that space. Fresh fish, great prices, great service, wide selection, menu options for different allergens. My *only* gripe is that the allergen section of the menu is not straightforward (different allergen options disappearing and reappearing, not sure what contains what) so I only ordered things that I knew for certain wouldn't pose issues. I'd love to see this updated on their online menu :)

That being said, they try to accommodate nut allergies, avocado allergies, gluten-free, soy allergies, and dairy allergies.

Stoked to have quality sushi in the neighborhood!
