Just had a business lunch at El Taco Real and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. If you're on the hunt for an affordable, high-quality Mexican meal in town, this is the spot to hit.

The food was nothing short of excellent. I opted for The Works enchilada dinner with pork, and it was a delight to the palate. LOVE IT!!!! A HIDDEN GEM!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME!!!! THE FOOD IS GREAT!!!! I WENT BY MYSELF AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE. THE WAITRESS BROUGHT ME OUT THE DIFFERENT MEAT THEY HAD SO I CAN SAMPLE WITH ONE I PREFERRED. I NEVER BEEN TO ANY RESTAURANT AND THEY TOOK TIME TO MAKE SURE I WAS SATISFIED!!!! We have been going to this restaurant for over 30 years, & it has been consistent the whole time. Everything there is utter perfection. The food is ALWAYS AMAZING! The wait staff is & has always been VERY welcoming, friendly & make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

I was amazed with the kindness I experienced at this place. Cathie is an amazing woman and bartender. I went alone , not expecting the amazing treatment I got . I was welcomed in and felt like a regular right away. The portions are huge and I was able to make my left overs last a few days . Totally worth the trip and will be back soon.

I don't live in the region anymore, but some of my earliest memories are of El Taco Real, and every time I go home it's one of my first stops. I always cite it as my favorite Mexican restaurant. A true Institution.

I love tacos and wanted to try something new. I walked into this establishment and immediately noticed how welcoming the atmosphere was. Even with the line being almost out of the door, the atmosphere was still nice. The owner was busy buzzing around and keeping customers engaged and happy. He was very friendly and down to earth. He even offered customers to have a seat in the back rather than stand in the front and wait. If hospitality had a face, he would be it. I ordered the steak burrito platter with the melted cheese on top and a size of rice. The food was DELICIOUS! I was very pleased with literally everything at this place. I will definitely be going back again and again.

Loved El Taco Real in Hammond, IN. The food was amazing and at an affordable cost. The customer service and dining ambiance was excellent. Recommend the enchiladas and Carne asada tacos.

Excellent as usual...thursday COSTILLAS is the best...best queso fundido with chorizo I have ever had...huge portions and excellent prices

Wonderful authentic Mexican food and wonderful service.

My family’s been coming here for 30+ years and I get it! They have the best Mexican food in the region. Other Mexican restaurants nearby are mid compared to el taco— their quality, consistency, and price are unmatched. Their burrito suizo with pork is incredible. The smell of their carne asada fajitas make me want to float. And basically anything they make with melted cheese is guaranteed to make you fall in love.

Great food, friendly and fast staff, and reasonably priced. Will return again!

As usual this place is a win-win. I've been going to this place since I was a little boy with my grandmother and it's still the same friendly atmosphere with the same delicious food as I remember growing up. This is a great place to go for a date or with your family
