I spent unforgettable moments at Home of Friends. I am an amateur runner and I went with two friends to Kapchorwa for preparatory training for the spring marathon. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the lovely Charlotte who introduced us to the camp and the surrounding area. She was always there to help. In our free time from running, she showed us beautiful places in the area.

If the steep, curling, slope to Kapchorwa didn't take your breath away, Home of Friends will for sure. The venue is beautifully located on a mountain ridge and guarantees a true moment of ease after a long hike through the stunning countryside (we highly recommend the rough but rewarding Benet trail in that matter). Huge thumbs up to Elisa for the warm welcome and endless smiles :)

Though the road to the location isn’t the best the service and staff go over and above to make your stay comfortable. I loved the food and the rooms are cozy enough. Don’t miss the sunrise view!!

I had my best experience at Home of Friends, starting with campfire storytelling, drama with the Sebei Cultural group, the run, Mosopisiek village tour, farm experience, visit to mukuuso cave and Mangos water fall, Kapchorwa nature walk with magnificent Kaptokwoi water fall.

Stay at Home of Friends for your tour in Kapchorwa and Kween, it's the best place to be..great food, good and interactive staff and clean rooms.

Garden is beautiful, good food (fast service in the restaurant), bathroom is small but hot showers, lovely people, good mattress.

They have put us in contact with a very good guide for the sipi falls trek (Juma from Elgon treks).

We would have loved to stay longer to do some other walks...

We had a great stay at Home of Friends. We extended it after the first night, just to have a bit more time. It's a short drive to Sipi Falls and there are a lot of other things to see and do around Kapchorwa. We did the nature walk, which was hosted by Rhomie, a trained guide, and it was great. A lot of information about Kapchorwa and great views.

We stayed 2 nights with a car + rooftop tent. Nice and quiet garden to sleep. Lovely campfire and great food at the restaurant. Friendly owners who can help you with anything. Lodge has beautiful rooms too but we loved our tent on the car haha!

We heard this place was good and we were NOT disappointed. We ran up from Sipi Falls for lunch and had an excellent pizza and hamburger. It was a lot of food and it came quickly. Even the Coke Zero came with lime (without requesting it) and then we ordered brownie and ice cream dessert (because we're gluttons, obviously). There's a place for kids to safely run around as well. Polite and good service!

Kapchorwa is a local word among the Sebei which means Home of Friends in English. I had never been there. And my first trip dubbed "Elgon Exposure Trip" to Kapchorwa I stayed at Home of Friends Guesthouse. I always feel nervous being in a new place. But I was feeling at home whilst staying at Home of Friends. I half expected to find only dark skinned people in the area. That was a misconception I brought to Kapchorwa. Just like any other place, there are brown skinned friendly people. I took time to explore the town on a boda boda ride. I could live in Kapchorwa if circumstances permit.

Daan our host is a kind person who provided guidance and participated along with us in the champions run and mountain biking in which He recognized me as having found my calling due to the bike challenge I put across. He gave us option to chose between staying in a room or camping tent. I stayed in a room despite craving for camping experience. Double Room No. 09 is self contained. Though the shower isn't spacious it has everything you need such as overhead showers, shower gels and soap, slippers and quick water heating mechanism. There's a reading table with a novel to read "Sorrows of an American" and drinking water in a bottle of wine. I was scared of 2 cold nights but recalled that the coldness isn't close to what you feel when at Bakiga Lodge in Ruhija Bwindi forest where I stayed twice for gorilla trekking a few years back. At Home of Friends there's campfire which should keep you warm until sleep overtakes you. Our first night was special with story telling about "child naming" that sounded like a tale of the ancient in modern times. The following day I had a run and bike experience. Always seek to relax as these activities put strain on the body. My legs lost stamina after a 10 km bike challenge. This is the longest route but there's a shorter one.

Today, Kapchorwa is known as Uganda's Land of Champions" with several Olympic gold medalists hailing from this area. when I met Peruth Chemtai who won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the women's 3000 metres steeplechase race, becoming the first Ugandan woman ever to win an Olympic medal the feelings of being a champion in your local area run through my body like an alternating current AC.

Yes, home of friends guest house kapchorwa is a place to be. The atmosphere is so welcoming and accommodating!

Home of friends guest house is the best place to stay in town, the fresh food they serve at there wonderful restaurant is great.

I ordered some take away food on my way and wen I reach at the restaurant before asking they had already packed everything just waiting for me, this made me save alot of time because I was speeding somewhere. While in kapchorwa town, consider home of for your lunch freshlyfrom the garden.

They also have a nice small play ground and comfortable rooms self contained with hot showers.

And if you are looking for a running experience too, home of friends arranges all with Run kapchorwa.

1room, double bed. if you want to use with your girlfriend It's 200000UGX. But if you want to use alone, It's 150000UGX. All rooms are clean and quality is also good. they have cafeteria and food. Food is good.

We stayed at Home of Friends for 4 weeks and it we enjoyed ever second of it. Surroundings are amazing, staff is friendly and extremely polite, accommodation is cozy, food is delicious. For sure it's not the cheapest in Uganda, but when you can have realllly top beef steak for only 8 eur, you just cannot complain :)
It's very possible that you'll meet some world class runners there, Joshua Cheptegei for example. Home of Friends is the perfect place for people who are into running tourism or even more serious running. But it's far more than that. If you are into hiking, exploring native culture etc, they can organise many activities at very friendly price, for example Sipi Falls tour and Mosopisiek 2 or 3 day hike.
The owners really tried to make us feel at home. We were sleeping in the tent, but during rainy days it wasn't a problem to find a room for us. When I got sick one day, they immediately took us to the doctor. When we had special requests for food, they always did their best. So clear 5/5 :)

Rooms were clean, shower was perfectly hot and the grounds are lovely, with views into the valley below and the hills behind.

I spent several days on the running experience (excellent) but there is loads more to do: mountain biking, hiking, waterfalls, natural caves and more. Highly recommended.

Beautiful place, staff are extremely friendly and catered to all our needs!
We stayed in the tent, with breakfast included, tent had a double mattress and duvet!
Restaraunt on site with lovely food available at all times, really nice kitchen staff, let us charge our phones in there too.
Daan the manager was really lovely and helpful, came and picked us up from where our taxi dropped us off, showed us round, put us in contact with lots of people to do activities with such as abseiling, rock climbing, trekking to the waterfalls ect

Home of friends is an excellent place to stay, especially if you like running and want to see the magic of the best runners of the world. Host Daan and his fiance Eliza are most friendly and know the area very well. They arrange everything you can think of. We did a coffee tour and went hiking around the Sipi Falls for instance. Highlight of our trip was to see the runners train in the early morning. Their training ground is basic but their speed is world class.

Nice and peaceful place in the mountains with lots of possibilities to do outdoor sports. Thanks Eliza for getting up at 5am in the morning to make an espresso 🙏

Good place to experience Sipi Falls. Very clean rooms with hot water and power both with Solar backup if Umeme fails 😜 Dan the owner is very helpful even if he’s not there. Staff were very friendly as well. Menu in the restaurant is not overloaded with a huge choice and therefore the quality of the food is great. Try the Pizza, definitely the best Pizza of East Uganda!!! Thumbs up 👍🏻

We had the most wonderful stay at Home of Friends. First, it is much cheaper than the budget lodges in Sipi and cost the same if not less. The compound and the rooms are in pristine condition, complete with bug nets on every bed and consistent hot water. Home of Friends is run by Dan from the Netherlands and his Ugandan fiancé (and excellent chef). They are extremely hospitable and I highly suggest inviting him to join you for dinner to learn more about his story and that of the area. You can even save yourself the trip to Sipi Falls and instead go to the falls in Kapchorwa that are just as large and almost unknown to tourists. Dan offers walking tours of the falls, as well as running and mountain bike tours of the area. Most importantly, your stay supports Dan’s youth sports organization, which organizes sports for local children and mentors rising athletes (there are multiple Olympic champions in the area). We were lucky enough to be able to spend an afternoon with the kids as Dan organized soccer, basketball, frisbee, and more. Overall, Home of Friends offers excellent service, wonderful staff, and all for a great cause. We can’t wait to visit again!

This amazing place offers world class experience in this countryside location many miles from the city Kampala! Staff are amazing with a great chef. The Muzungu owner understands business. I highly recommend this facility for your affordable accommodation while visiting Sipi falls. I was given a good guide with nice communication skills and so trustworthy.

Best in Kapchorwa town. Nice rooms in a beautiful compound. Very quiet, relaxing and enjoyable. Nice views especially sunset. Good food in the restaurant, some non-ugandan food available. The only place in town where you can have good coffee or espresso. Lots of activities like running, mountain biking, hiking, and coffee tours. One of my best discoveries in Uganda.
