We tried the restaurant only, and several times for lunch or dinner.
Nice view onto the sea, excellent food, and great cocktails and juices.
Very attentive service, too.
Do not hesitate to get out of your hotel and walk along the beach and enjoy local food at reasonable price.

Highly recommend this place. The Bungalows worked well, the food at the restaurant was delicious, and we absolutely loved the comfy seating areas overlooking the ocean. They also booked a snorkeling/swimming with dolphins tour for us, and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Plus, it's a family run business and they're all so friendly and welcoming.

I had dinner here every single day during my week in Zanzibar. I simply loved the food and hospitality of the family.

A must-have is the curries and for starters try the hearty tomato soup (probably the best I ever had) and also taste the other starter (I forgot the name).

Their son drove me around the island to discover another part and even showed me his favourite barbershop.

And if you need it, I think they also offer affordable laundry service.

What can I say about Mohammed’s Bungalows. Unbelievable! This place MAKES Matemwe. Family run business, best fish curry on the island, reasonable prices, wonderful hospitality and great VIBES. What more could you want? Thank you to Mohammed, Solomon and family for making us feel so welcome and comfortable in this lovely fishing village. Our opinion… if you want to spend $200 a night on a beach resort, go for it (you idiots). OR spend your hard earned money on the best place in Matemwe and support a family run business that has been going for 25 years for a fraction of the price.

Why is Mo so great? 1) On arrival he upgraded our roomfor free. 2) Accommodated breakfast around our diving schedule. 3) Incredibly helpful in planning the remainder of our trip including giving us numbers of tuktuk drivers and offering to translate for us over the phone. 4) Peanuts (warm and salty before each meal).

Mohammed is a wonderful host who will greet you with a warm smile every time he sees you and will go out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We had the most amazing time in Matemwe and that is in no small part thanks to Mohammed and his lovely family. We couldn’t recommend this place any more.

The restaurant was a “hidden gem”. Very good and well prepared fresh food. Service was impeccable. The owner explained the dishes in detail.

Walk along the beach and you’ll see the sign for it.

They also have a service where they will charge your card and give you the cash, acting as an atm since there are no close ones near. Very convenient.

We had dinner at Mohammed's 4 times during the whole of our stay, and every time was exceptional. It's a local family run restaurant, and they cook each meal from scratch. Highly recommend both the food and the people.

I stayed for 9 days in Matemwe (at Villa Tulia, which was beautiful). The owner recommended Mohammed's restaurant for my first lunch... and I ended up going every day! His seafood is really good and fresh, perfectly grilled, and his sauces and marinades are simply amazing! I tried other places on the Island (Stone Town, Nungwi etc.) or in Matemwe but Mohammed's restaurant was simply the best I found.
On top of the great food, he is very friendly and nice.

We had a delicious lunch of samosas, some vegetable curry and fresh chips and some beers here after diving this morning. Highly recommend.

We had some dinner at Mohammeds Restaurant and were really satisfied with the food and the friendly staff! We tried the grilled octopus and the vegetarian pizza and were really surprised about the good quality and taste of the food, although the restaurant is nondescript! So if you are around here, it is worth a try!
Also we get to know the chef and he is a really friendly guy! If you stay at Villa Tulia, it is possible to hire him as your private chef on a daily basis!

Very tasty traditional African and sea food. The staff was really friendly and helps you with choosing the right food and drinks for yourself. The restaurant is located directly at the beach, which is beautiful. We would definitely recommend it if you stay nearby to experience local food culture. But make sure to bring some time or pre-order your food in the afternoon since everything is prepared very fresh.

Walked down to the restaurant from one of the nearby resorts. I can tell you, the food and service was beyond my imagination. The food was really good and service was brilliant. I ordered the local fish dish and I was impressed. I would definitely go again! 5/5.

If you find yourself in the fishing village of Kigomani, in Matweme District in Zanzibar do yourself the favour of stopping in at Mohammed restaurant for a beautiful authentic Zanzibari experience. You will not regret it. The food is mouth wateringly good and the service friendly and spot on. I recommend the seafood pilau.

It’s a must-go dinner place if you’re around the area. The food is fantastic and Mohammed and his family are great hosts. We showed up pretty late by foot from our nearby resort and the place was already closing down but Mohammed fired up his kitchen only for us and served a killer feast. He even drove us back as it was pitch dark by the time we finished. The place is super casual, small and relaxed, open air right by the beach. Warmly recommended.

The best place on Zanzibar. Mohammed is a great cook and a very nice person. The way he makes the sauce for the rice and cooks fish and seafood is incredible. Wherever you eat on this island, you will end up coming back to Mohammed’s again and again and enjoying it every time. Highly recommended, still remembered after a few months :)

Great hotel! Right on the beach! Great food, bar and service! M9hammed himself comes by daily to great guests and see if they need anything. Internet isn't great by western standards but was much, much better than most other places we stayed. Won't go back to Zanzibar/Tanzania with a trip back to Mohammed's!

This is the best place to eat on the beach. Slow like everyone else, but a little less slow. Prices are good for Matemwe and the food is simply amazing. We ate hear a number of times, and were turned away once because the whole place was booked out. A favourite of everyones.

This is the best place in Kigomane. Mohammed and his family are very nice hosts. The rooms are clean and quiet. The food is super excellent and very very delicious. We missed nothing and enjoyed a great service all around.

We did a great village tour as well as a sea wheat tour with a local guide - ask Mohammed, he will organize for you. Finally we did a sailing tour along the beach in the afternoon wir one of the traditional boats.

So if you want to see the traditional Zanzibar this is your place.

We enjoyed our stay very much and would leave another “thank you very much”.k

Amazing food, had octopus there. Fresh homemade with coconut sauce. Lovely family oriented . Good service. Order in advance for lobster and crayfish. It's better if you order in advance you wait less.
