Tongliang Great Banyan

Temple and structures swallowed by this humongous tree. Amazing sight on the day seeing how nature is reclaiming its land. I won't wanna be stuck here in the night though.

It is said to be 300+ years old. I don't know much about how to calculate the age of a banyan tree. But maybe more than that. It is spread over a big area. Probably it has 90+ feet in total. They maintain the tree very well. I was surprised too they have water supply to each of the feet of the tree, but without harming the view.

There is a temple in front of it.
If you are hungry, there is a restaurant on the other side of the road. The food is ok.

The impressive part of this is that it's an entire tree in itself covering a vast area grown over 300+ years. Scenic and worth spending some time admiring the views at different sections of the ground, something interesting will be to find the oldest part of the tree (larger stems compared to the thin stems at the entrance)

the great banyan in front of the temple is also nice attraction spot in the north of penghu Island! The tree already 150years old! they also have unique local food which are Cactus Ice cream and also three Colors Squid ball

Good place to visit. Lots of shades and peaceful to sit and relax. The tree is amazing and very big. There are several shops and you get souvenirs for good price. There is also yummy ice creams to chill out. Bike ride to this place was very windy and painful. Better to have good windsheets, eye protection.

A single tree is spread all over place, the place was also built to support the tree. The tree is quite old. Please have cactus icecream with added melon favour it is so delicious.

Very ancient tree...my parents and I was here 40 years ago... Oh... The first cactus ice-cream store is just in front of the tree, near the temple.

Amazing giant tree! There’s also yummy cactus ice cream stand right next to the tree. Great place to rest your lags in the scorching summer day.

Very interesting visit. I thought the original/ first stem of the tree would be much broader but I was surprised to see that it seemed almost the same breadth as the more recent stalks.

Amazing group if trees all grown together, can't differentiate where they start and end. Very interesting

If you're like me and you are a big fan of roots and branches, then this is the place for you. You can do fun things like sitting and looking at some roots, or standing and looking at some more roots. It's amazing
