Jhihben National Forest Recreation Area

Nice place in the mountains for hiking. You can see a lot of trees and wildlife there, for example our group saw a lot of taiwan monkeys and Reeves's muntjac, they are very shy and cute, we just observed them from afar, not getting too close afraid of frightening them.

One of the best places to hike and wander in nature. There are a total 4 trails around 5 hrs long. Entrance ticket is 80 NTD recommend to explore.

Very well handled small national park. The routes are well maintained, but even though kept more at natural way. Road markings are clear. The inerventions to the nature are minimized. You can also observe makaks formosan and formosan sambar deers along the way.

I liked this place very much. You can spend there almost whole day. There are many walking options with different paths and you can choose your favorites and go to discover this beautiful little jungle. There are even hot springs, where you can little bit relax during your adventure and if you are lucky (and quiet 🤫 enough ) you can see some lurking animals :).

Really nice and well managed park. The trails are all fun and very well signposted. The forest is beautiful with some of the interesting trees labelled. Also a cool little museum with interactive wooden exhibits. I learned a lot!

This is my first time being here and I’m already in love with this forest recreation area.

There are some trails that you can hike inside the area, one of my favorite is the Forest Bath. The sign tells that the whole trail was all handmade which is really special and was in order to live with the nature without bothering the mountain. I love the idea so much.

A good place for a simple hike. You would have to pay for the entrance — which is understandable because they try to maintain the place. There’s a large variety of trees around and some good view while walking along the trail. There are different trails to choose from (we chose the longest one).

We enjoyed walking in the forest and seeing deer and monkeys. Did the two star difficulty which was fine for one fit person and one who gets puffed out. I (oldie) got in for ten yuan but my husband paid 80. They gave us leaflets in English. Would recommend a visit. Nowhere to eat at the centre, and some restaurants were closed. We found one open near the hot springs. Used a bus from Taimali, changing at Qizitou. On the way there the bus times were different from google and had to wait a while on way back. Buses are infrequent.

When you finish walking trails you have hot springs for your legs

A fantastic place to visit if you are near Titung. We spent a few hours exploring and loved every minute. The grounds and gardens are very well maintained and we saw lots of wildlife including monkeys and small dear. Plenty of shaded areas to cool off too.
The steps to the top were challenging but worth it. Also we took the more gentle path back down under the cover of the trees.

Definitely worth to visit. It is a very nice stroll through the forests .We have met several wild reeves's muntjacs - we have never seen such an animal before.

World class forest park with amazing, monstrous thousand-year old Banyan trees and subtropical plants. The toilets and footpaths are well maintained and clean, with clear signages. We especially liked the sound pipes towards the end of the trail. I reckon this should be a UNESCO world heritage site.

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The outdoor hot spring bath is great. I would love to come back someday.

Beautiful, peaceful forest park. There are forest trails, hot spring rest place for feet. Small restaurant that has traditional food.

This place is an amazing addition to Jhihben. The National Forrest Recreation Area has been developed into a touristic area with various attractions interconnected by walking paths.

Popular attractions include the public baths (foot soaking), botanical gardens, creek massage pool and scenic walking trails.

Getting there is a little journey from town, but totally worth it for the intrepid.

Some sections are under renovation, but there’s still a lot to explore! Highly recommend!

Climb up the mountains and enjoy the bird view of the whole Taitung plain!
