Neiwan Old Street

Beautiful old street in Taiwan. Take a one hour slow train ride from Hsinchu train station to view and enjoy the scenery to and from this destination. I was here on a Monday and many shops were not open. I imagine that the crowd and activities will be a lot more on weekends. Lots of street food and sit-down restaurants and souvenirs and snack shops. All the stall owners are genuinely sincere and happy to chat with you.

Great place lots of markets. Very open to walk not tight light the usual night markets. Lots of option.

A very authentic old street to go and walk around you can find lots of local delightful street food and a cafe to hang around.. feel sad didn't have enough time to visit an 100 yes old church.. also nearby old street next to it has a karting circuit and playground park for kids to play. Love the place lots. Will definitely plan for my next trip again for missing spots..

Very beautiful architecture and market, many wonderful stores to visit and lots of different types of food to eat.

I love visiting Neiwan. The old street has many local souvenir shops. You can also go to suspension bridge nearby, the view is very scenic.

There are some sort of webbed streets and all are markets mostly food and beverages! You may find some odds and ends as well as handmade stuff! Market was packed with people despite coronavirus pandemic but pretty well taken care of!

A great place off the beaten track for delicious food and beautiful views! The curio shops are quaint too with awesome things inside, you can spend ages browsing 😁

Must be lively during weekends, almost half of the shops are closed when I drop by on a Friday afternoon. A good past time wandering around the old street with a train station nearby and an old suspension bridge which is an icon here. After a tiring walk drop by the famous Dessert shop selling tou Hua with different choice of ingredients. It's open only on Fri to sun only so don't miss it when you plan to visit it and the portion is quite big so can order a bowl and share it.

It's a most place to visit if you are in #hsinchu. It's got the old fashioned style feeling from the 50's to 80's. The old cinema still works and shows some interesting old movies. They got one of the creepiest zoo with weird animals and facts. A lot of amazing cuisine to eat from, lots of souvenirs to buy and the weather is just amazing.The old trains still works and the scenery is just perfect for relaxed atmosphere.They got Go-karts and so much more. Everything is affordable and friendly people.Visit the zoo if you into creepy stuffs.lol..

If your holiday is spare, I suggest you visit here and walk around.
Here are some canteens and beautiful landscapes, you can bring your family or friends, it will be a good trip.
I really really recommend to have a picnic in the NeiWan Elementary School, you can purchase some snacks (like Braised Snacks, Stinky Tofu......etc) in the NeiWan old street.

Did this unplanned trip in the morning of Sunday. I can say that if you like small stores with food like beef noodles, nuts, sweets, toys, hakka style food, crackers, fruits. It is a good experience to visit and immerse into the crowd.

At Neiwan Old Street stretches a nightmarket lined back to back with plenty of food stalls. But what makes Neiwan special is the nostalgic gift shops selling vintage Taiwan snacks and toys, and the sheer amount of Hakka food! Here you can find Hakka sausages, zhongzi (wrapped glutinous rice), grilled fish balls, handmade mochi, chicken feet with garlic and chili, and this mouth-watering grilled pork sandwich. All this, along with the people’s humour and friendliness makes up the DNA of this unique market.

Really nice walk for a short hike and old street shopping. It was really hot and I would love the place even more in winter. There wasn't much shade on the old street side of the river so my dogs were overheating but it's still a nice place not too far from Hsinchu city.

Lots of traditional Hakka cuisine such as Tofu Cheese, Peanut Mochi, Soaked Pickles, and more! I also love the black sugar cakes. Affordable and local!

I haven't been there before. It's the first time. I was surprised. It's a good site, except for the disgusting public toilets.

Loved it. There's a lot of traditional food to eat ~ lots of variety. I highly recommend going on an empty stomach so you can try many things!

Fun place for kids! National street food .. Very special.. Local sausages are the best..
