Alishan Forest Railway Garage Park

As it is named, it is a garage park. Free entrance. Learning the history of alishan forest railway & appreciating people's hard work in maintaining this! You can visit this together with 森林之歌 & Hinoki Village. They are all within walking distance.

A must stop if you are in Chiayi city. Take time to check the old trains. Now crowded. You can meditate here.

Recommend to go to Zhao Ping station first then walk to Shen Mu station.

Used to visit this place a lot as a 2 year old and every now and then when I return to Taiwan from overseas I make sure to check out this nostalgic childhood spot. Also I like trains.

The most beautiful mountain I had came. People here is so friendly. I went by bus from Chiayi and the price was very cheap.

Amazing railway relics from this narrow gauge railway which was built during the Japanese occupation. Several rare or historically important vehicles can be found in the park, catering great photo opportunities for railway enthusiasts.

Tons of retired trains and locomotives exhibited here. There are some historical antique locomotive and wood cars still running.

This is an awesome place to have a walk around, especially if you enjoy learning about Chiayi's history. The engines are really cool if you like that sort of thing.

If you're in Chiayi you must come here! Especially if you like trains!

This is sort of a railway museum dated back in early 20th century when the railroad was built, featuring locomotive, passenger trains as well as diplomatic VIP train, in the Alishan Forrest area, where trains go around the mountains. This place brought back my memory of a trip made to this area in 1970s. I could also find the model of the train I rode in back then. Pretty neat place if you are fancinated about Taiwanese railway history and challenges it faced back in early days to blow up the mountains to build tunnels.

Very interesting outdoor space with old trains that have been retired/preserved. It also is a functioning train garage, so keep an eye out for trains coming in for service/storage.
