Susam Cafe

This is one the best restaurants we have visited in Istanbul. Food was delicious. The service was prompt. Atmosphere is great. The only thing I would suggest to improve is the light inside. It was very dark. It could be okay for lounge bar or club, but this cafe, and people come here to eat at the first place. Overall, most pleasant experience.

This place has easily became our go-to place to have breakfast.
They’re really fast for when you’re feeling super hungry. They have the best cheese filled simit I’ve ever had.
Friendly staff and good prices compared to the service and quality of food.
You can also take a walk up the street and find some shops in the area.

Highly recommend.

Good food, good atmosphere

Lovely turkish breakfast here, nice vibes.

Drinks: home made lemonade ice tea is more tea than lemonade, barely sweet which is nice, serious tang from lemon and strong tea flavor. The fresh fruit is a nice touch. The watermelon mulberry drink is quite refreshing as well, not very sweet.

The bread that comes first is quite fresh: moist with a nice chew and structure. Crumb isn't too big so you're not just eating air. You can ask for olive oil with crush olives in it - very nice oil, quite buttery. The olives have a very deep earthy flavor, so use sparingly.

Menemen with cheese and soujouk - delicious, very robustly flavored though so you need bread. Not overcooked, not undercooked, just right. Cheese adds richness, the soujouk adding spices and saltiness.

Turkish breakfast set: the simit (sesame ring bread) was very toasted on the outside so just a little tough, but deep flavor. Simit was great with the mulberry jam and honey with butter. From the cheese plate, the string cheese was milky and milk, like a low moisture mozzarella or colby jack. The white block is like a feta but may be cows milk, and more creamy than feta, but similarly salty and strong. The darkest wedge is like a gouda. Overall, very nice.

The food was amazing. Definitely one of the greatest breakfasts we ate. It was reasonably priced if you’re travelling from North America.

I love this cozy place. The food is outstanding! Best the soup of the day. And bowls are a separate type of food orgasm. Well, the friendly staff ❤

Cozy place, I spent 1h working and having a soft drink. They have sofas to use the laptop. Me encantó.

Very cozy and nice atmosphere, food was good too for a very fair price. Plenty of options for drinks too.

Really tasty food! I liked the vibe of the place and it’s located in a nice area. The prices were ok as well, not too expensive for what looks like a hipster place at first. I had a kebab, which I really recommend, and my boyfriend had a pide, which was ok but not as good as the kebab

My Favorite place in Cihangir! Food is very delicious. Portions are big. Atmosphere is like in Europe, you can meet so many interesting people there.
The guys who work in Susam became already my friends. They are very nice, helpful and fast :)

This is one of our favorite places in all of Istanbul! The staff are so friendly and accommodating. The cocktails are delicious (especially the Margarita). The food is delicious, plus they provide you with nice little snacks before your meal. We love sitting outside. There’s no rush for you to leave. All in all the BEST!

Perfect place to chill and watch around the life from the corner. The owners definitely have good taste for food and ambiance.

You can meet alots of locals in here.

Location in cool neighborhood Cihangir close to Galata, atmospheric decor, good service, mid-range Turkish prices (40-50 TL for main course), good music and food. A place for hipsters, artsy folk and cool people to get a tea/coffee, food or a drink.

Good food and a cute little restaurant, with a kind staff.

This place is really great, particularly for remote work, but also for social occasions. The staff is extremely friendly and food & drinks are incredible. I can sit here for hours, work on my laptop and pet some of the local cats that come and say hi!

The prices are fine and you get what you expect

We had one of the best breakfasts in Istanbul. Super friendly staff and the prices are more than fair. Only problem was that I lost 2 rounds of backgammon against my girlfriend. But I guess that wasn‘t the locations fault 🌝
