Wonderful place to be during sunset for its colors, reflections and shades. And the view/sunset over Mesopotamia is incredible too. When you want to see all, including upstairs/balcony than you have to be there before 4pm. Upstairs closes at 4pm. Depending on photo shoots times can vary but round 5pm - 5.30pm everybody has to leave.

Like all great building in Mardin, That building has got from me a 5 stars and more, the walls the architect design, everything was wonderful, if you are going to Eski Mardin from the new Mardin, you have to visit that place first I recommended.

I was surprised about this place, because was completed in 1502 and considering its age, is in remarkable condition. I recommend you to visit this elegant, beautiful and peaceful place.

This Medrese is the name given to a traditional seminary, an Islamic school. In 1924, all medreses in Turkey were closed down within a general attack on religious life and a top-down attempt to secularise society

"Kasimiye Madrasa - Mardin
The construction of the madrasah, which has survived until today with its perfect structure, started in the Artuqid Period and was completed in 1457-1502 during the reign of Akkoyunlu Ruler Cihangiroğlu Kasım Padishah. Smooth cut stone was used in the construction of the two-storey, domed, single and open courtyard madrasah. The structure, which attracts attention in terms of its plan features, stonework and ornament motifs, is located in the complex together with the mosque and tomb. There is a fountain and a large pool in the courtyard of the madrasah. The madrasah, which has an open front to the plain in the south, is one of the largest structures in Mardin. It is open madrasah type, arranged around a single courtyard, has two floors and a single iwan. It is made of cut stone and bricks.

It is entered from the south side by passing through a barrel vaulted corridor connected by a crown door. There is an independent masjid place on the west, which has the same entrance as the other parts. There is a mosque rising on two floors in the east. It consists of cells lined up between the cloisters on two floors, around the large courtyard with a portico, which is entered through the portal. To the north of the courtyard, there is a large iwan that cuts the second floor and a pool in front of it. This place should have been thought of as a complex, not as a madrasah on its own. The zawiya-shrine next to it is proof of that."

It is a must see in Mardin, has a beautiful view and is away from the hustle and bustle. Stunning at night as well :)
The municipality has a fantastic open air cinema near it. For movies and showing times you can visit rotamardin's page on instagram.

One of the most beautiful buildings we've seen in Mardin. This building, which is one of the best engineering and architectural masterpiece of that period, was used as an university, as well as a lighthouse for the caravans traveling on the Silk Road.

The lanterns were burned on the roof of the building so that the caravans could find their way at night.

You may enjoy the most beautiful views of the Mesopotamia plain, and you may feel as you are looking a green sea.

Very historic place with a nice board with explanations by the entrance. No entrance fee and also no guided tours unfortunately. The water seem to be drinkable after all. Nice place after all. Enjoy
