Our culinary adventure could not exist, be created or last without this place. 5 stars but I give 6! Why 6? Because it's quite cheap for Istanbul! I guess there are cheaper places but we were limited by time. My fiancée discovered this spot and I am grateful to her for it. I highly recommend it for people with a small budget. We ate there twice and spent about 400-500 lire each time for a couple - no alcohol served there by the way. Please remember that inflation changes prices very dynamically.
Situated, one might say off the beaten track, in a street that doesn't give the impression that you'll eat really well there, there is this culinary gem. A positive opinion is influenced by several details, three in particular. Although no, four. The food is just like mom's but there must be a good cook to make it nice. And then the service as well because someone has to bring it and take it away. And the place where they serve also speaks for itself - warm, clean and so cozy. The toilet is very clean too if anyone is interested :) We tried a few dishes in Lokantasi - Paulina fell in love with lentil soup, I fell in love with eggplant stuffed with minced meat but really in everything. I recommend it with both hands up. Yummy!

I recently visited the place in the late afternoon around 3pm on a Friday. I noticed I was late for Döner, it was almost over, so I tried the authentic dishes.

I had Talaş Kebabı which was so good that I highly recommend you to try. Prices are very reasonable for this kind of high quality traditional food.

Fast and professional service. The only downside is the lack of seating. The restaurant has only 10-12 tables indoor and outdoor. I was lucky to sit outside on the street, cause the indoor was not very spacious.

Authentic Turkish food close to Iskandir/Taksim area. Had the grilled liver and lamb feet soup. Its comfort food in many ways. Service was great in this place as they knew i am not local and showed us the food in the kitchen before ordering but my girlfriend is.

Local, wide range of choices, each dish perfectly realized, reasonable price. Easily one of the best restaurant we’ve encountered in Istanbul during our 4 day trip. Eggplant highly recommended.

If I was born in Turkey and my mother/father worked as a cook all her/his life, then homemade food would taste just like that.
You should definitely come here if you want authentic home cooking.

This is proper home cooked food, the stuffed courgette was a lot like my mum used to make and the lemon in the yoghurt sauce was 👌

first breakfast we had in Turkey and luckily we found this beautiful little lokantasi.

for breakfast they had bean, chicken, and meat soup.
we got a bean (50 tl ~2,5€) and meat soup (100 tl ~3,5€) for small but somewhat filling portion.
- the bean soup was cooked in tomato sauce and has small bits of chicken in it and we find it really good.
- the meat soup we got was a (goat foot?) tasted meaty and has a goaty aroma to it (some cultures like to pfepare goat dishes this way) but for us it was a bit much and we find that it needed some herbs to balance the meaty smell. however the meat was perfectly tender and we could finish it!

the staffs and the owner speak little english but they were kind enough to invite us to their kitchen and advise us to come in lunch time as they will have lots of ready-serve meals. a must visit place if you want to experience authentic turkish home cooking!

Friendly staff and nice food. You can choose your dinner at a small exhibition here or course something from the menu. At my visit there were not much people at cafe but I was told that staff can be a little less friendly during rush hours, but I find it totally normal. Anyway, it's a great food for reasonable price

Love love love. I would go back to Istanbul and eat here immediately. I was lucky enough to stumble upon this homey restaurant on my last day in Istanbul. The waitstaff are kind, took me inside so I can see what to order (this is super helpful as a foreigner, seeing what you order before you order really makes a difference). It tasted like home cooked food in the best way possible. Super affordable, around 11 euros for lunch.

Loved this place: Menu was in Turkish, I had no idea what I was ordering, they had to bring a different guy to tell me they were out of what I ordered but had something else. I didn't care I just said, "bring it", which they did and I loved it.

This place is like that spot you go to because it looks like mom's cooking.

Bring me to a typical and authentic local restaurant and I am happy! Here my sis and I have been really happy and satisfied with very delicious food! So close to the main street in Galata, this little pearl offers typical meals for locals and tourists, that they welcome in a very warm way. Menu is not in English, of course, but they bring you to the kitchen to see the food you're going to have. I suggest to try the eggplant filled with meat and the egg in spicy spinach (always with meat). The lentils soup and the beans are very good as well! Actually everything we had was delicious, I highly recommend this place!
