Our family from both Louisiana and California (including a teenager) had a wonderful afternoon with Mrs. Demirkol, Adam, and her husband looking for carpets and Kilims to take home with us. Her passion and knowledge about the kilims was captivating and very interesting. Their hospitality offering turkish tea, water etc was top notch. Her husband makes a great cup of tea! My beautiful wife had a hard time deciding. Mrs. Demirkol showed us an array of kilims both antique and new and of all price ranges. There was no pressure to buy or purchase the most expensive. Her priority was to ensure that we both got a carpet that we loved. She also a talented artist - using carpet and rug pieces to create fascinating pieces of art.

If you are in Istanbul and looking for kilim rugs in the Ortakoy area this is a must stop on your visit.

A lovely, family-owned business and very enjoyable shopping experience. In addition to selling beautiful antique and contemporary rugs from across the region and for a range of budgets, Egnin also makes her own one-of-a-kind pieces. We’re very happy to take home three and to learn more about the art of kilim!

If you're looking for unique rugs, this is the place. The owner makes her own rugs piecing together older rugs and does it beautifully. She does the same thing with pillows and the result is very appealing.

They also have traditional rugs but clearly the unique pieces made by the owner make this place stand out. What I also like is that the store is completely out of the touristy area, and you can tell from the store that the owner has good taste and doesn't just sell rugs. She also sells art and her passion.

Stepping in like entering a kilim wonderland! Such an amazing place to visit. We spent hours learning all the fun details about numerous beautiful kilims, drinking tea and having delicious cookies. Engin the hostess was so helpful and wonderful in so many ways! Enter if you are looking for a kilim or just wanna have some eye candies, you won’t regret~

This is without a doubt the best kilimshop in Istanbul, if not Turkey. Over the years I have bought several antique kilims here, and visiting this beautiful store is always a great pleasure. Here you will find an enormous collection of traditional kilims and rugs, both antique and new, in all different price ranges.
The owner Engin and her team are lovely and welcoming, and there is never any pressure to buy anything. This makes for a completely different shopping experience than the shops in the Grand Bazaar.
Engin is extremely knowledgeable and she genuinly wants you to understand the story behind the kilims. If you are in the market for a gorgeous Turkish kilim, or just want to know more about the art of rug-making, I suggest you head straight to Ortaköy. You will be welcomed with open arms and a lovely cup of tea!

Wow! Beside of the fact it's the most genuine and real carpets collection in Istanbul, this place is much more than that. 💚
The most beautiful family which dedicated their life for their real love- carpets, will meet you there for much more than a sale. For us, it was one of the best spots we have visited in the city and we left with the most beautiful anatolian piece and we will defenitely come back there as soon as well land in Istanbul again.
Be aware the place isn't only a shop, the family live in the place so you can visit after the working hours too! Just be polite because they are incredibly kind.
Visit there and you won't regret 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Ms. Engin has been the most tremendous host for us. Her priority is to make you understand the story behind the kilims and just enjoy the experience. Her store is nothing like the other rug and kilim stores you'll find in the bazaars in the historical part of the city. We had the best shopping experience for a kilim (and a couple of handmade pillow cases) in her shop with quite reasonable prices. Strongly recommended.

This place is a true hidden gem!
Shopping for rugs in Istanbul can give you a headache because the offer is overwhelming and to a not-so-well-trained eye all the shops might look identical.
If you want to buy a kilim pillow, a rug, or even just snoop around in a beautiful Istanbul house with decades old architecture, ditch the bazaars and head to Ortaköy - which is a colorful little neighborhood by the sea worth a visit - to Hazal Hali.
Here the team will welcome you with warmth and hospitality. While sipping tea and snacking on a simit, the owner found for us the perfect piece that matches perfectly our living room, a century old kilim that they will restore and ship to us. His wife Engin creates also true works of art matching sections of old kilims to create new pieces - they are so beautiful you could even just hang them to the wall as an artwork.
We are so happy we visited Hazal Hali! Our rug will always bring back the memories of Ortaköy and our trip to Istanbul ❤

This shop is heaven for kilim lovers - or you will be addicted to kilims after your visit. The shop is located in a wonderful wooden house in Ortaköy near the mosque and have a very wide range of different kilims to offer, all possible sizes and price ranges. Engin, the owner, is very professional and knowledgeable about her products and understands quickly the needs of her customers. You will not be disappointed, I am a very satisfied customer since I over 25 years. Check out Instagram and Facebook for some excellent photos.

Hazal Kilim has the very best selection of kilims including the best variety and quality in Istanbul. I have purchased over 20 kilims from Hazal over the past 15 years on my many trips to Turkey. Due to recent CoVid restrictions I was unable to travel yet just made purchases directly from Engin (over the internet) since I trust her eye and integrity implicitly. She has a photographic memory for all of her kilims and she truly wants them placed to best accent your home. She will work with you to define your desired favorite style, design and pattern. Once you know your preferred size and colors she will have at least several which will fit and ALL will work in your chosen setting.
Of course, when in Istanbul, you must visit the Grand Bazaar for the "tourist experience" but it you are looking for a gorgeous heirloom textile and not just a "souvenir" then wait and visit Hazal Kilim in Ortokoy before you open your wallet. Plan to spend a few hours in the area on the Bosphorus just 15-30 north of downtown for this memorable event. Visit the shop, see the selection with Engin, consider a break for a coffee or lunch to contemplate your choice without pressure and then return to look once more and buy whichever kilim "speaks to you". I guarantee you will not regret this decision!.

Very beautiful store. We had a wonderful experience here. This is the first carpet store that I actually felt comfortable to shop in without being harassed and the quality is superior as well. The owner was very kind and knowledgeable and took time to explain and tell us about the carpets at her store. We will definitely be returning here. I can't recommend this place enough. If your going to buy carpets in Turkey consider checking Hazal Hali .

Hazal Kilim is so much more than a regular kilim store. When you step into Hazal Kilim you enter not only a kilim store, but also a warm and friendly home, because this is how you are welcomed by Engil and her family that runs the place since the past 27 years. Here they really take the time for you, and with no stress or hustle (like you would expect at the Grand Bazaar in Sultanahmet), and without the pressure of buying. You can tell that they are very passionate about what they do.

My partner and I were completely swept off our feet when entering the world of Anatolian kilims. Engil took such good care for us and told us about the history and stories about the kilims so that you would really get a feel for these beautiful crafts. Even if you do not buy anything, you are in it for an experience. And if you do, the prices are resonable and you know that every penny is well invested.

What makes Hazal Kilim stand out is not only their beautiful way of approaching their visitors and their selections of kilims. It is also how they put together different vintages and styles into their own very unique pieces that you would not find anywhere else.

I warmly recommend this place, and will be back again.

Knowledgeable and good people. It is obvious they love what they do and they're not trying to rip you off. First time kilim shoppers, we had a great experience. I hope we'll have a bigger budget next time we are in Istanbul and we'll come here again. I'd love to meet the owner, Ayse Engin. She has a tasteful collection and a lovely shop. I recommend this place.

This place was recommended to us by a family friend who lives in Istanbul and was one of the best rug buying experiences we have ever had. Engin really took the time to help us find the perfect kilim. She is a wonderful host, and has a great way of explaining the differences between the different kilims, which makes you understand why they are so special. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it really is the best place to buy a kilim in Istanbul.

This is one of the most amazing places in istambul period. It may be hard to find but is definitely worth it. The collection of rugs is unmatched. But it is not even the greatest part - it’s owners who are very warm and hospitable people. They would show and explain you everything.

Excellent expérience.
The owner Engin and her husband, greeted us in the most enthusiastic way possible. They gave great advice, were very helpful and were a delight to work with. I purchased three rugs and I highly recommend the establishment any potential visitors.
