3rd visit to this place. The first time we went there was in 2021 and ended having dinner twice. This time our first stop in Istanbul was Batard. My wife made it a point to visit it on our first night.

With fervent anticipation, we took our usual spot there and ordered. Thankfully, the interior and the vibes were still the same. A flurry of hustle and bustle with the occasional aroma of something delicious. Friendly and efficient staff. Ezgi attended our table.

It’s a mix of simple nouveau French with some classic American fare. My wife is crazy about their Beef Bourgoinon and ordered that while I ordered the Chicken Tabaka. We also ordered a fish starter. I can say with confidence that it’s still the same Batard that we cherished so much. The Chicken was bursting with flavour and the texture was the right mix of crunch and softness. The Beef was also excellent.

Previously I ordered the Chicken Waffle which was also splendid back in 2021

This is an absolute must try in Istanbul for great non pretentious cuisine at decent prices.

Tataki Sushi 10/10 (only bad part is just 4 pieces!!)
Falafel Mücver 6.5/10 (nothing special, but spice level is good)
Sanayi Pilavı 8.5/10 (tomato makes good creamy sauce)
Shrimp 9/10
Salmon 7.5/10 (taste wise can improve but cooking level is on point)
Overall taste: 9/10

I just had a meal there. The restaurant’s design was beautiful, great service, I enjoyed watching the chefs cooking.
First I was served with the Bread and Olive Oil. Honestly the bread was tough and dry for me.
I ordered Tabaka: it was really good, the chicken was perfectly cooked.
Agnolotti: BEST thing I have ever had, the flavors were amazing, loved it.
Blondie (for dessert): I asked for something not too sweet, they recommended this and it was the perfect Ending.
My only comment, I just hoped the music was a bit quieter and classical.

Stellar cuisine with small menu, drinks and desserts superb - all dishes were borderline Michelin quality.

Wait staff, although very jovial, needs a little more training to greet diners quickly and then check on diners more often through dining experience. Place was not too busy at the time.

Great music, decor and atmosphere. This place would be perfectly comfortable in any other top global city - London, NYC, L.A.

We visited the place back in March. We ordered pastrami and pulled beef. Both sandwiches were fabulous! Crunchy toast with savory sauces like sauerkraut, Russian sauce and coleslaw honored with juicy and tender meat. The presentation was so fancy, too.

The ambiance is designed for high social class. The interiors decorated with classy material choices, vibrant colors, and with a modern taste.

Professional personnel, quite fast service, and very clean place in general.

Prices are a bit higher than the standards. Compared to US or European prices, very reasonable.

Overall rating 4.6/5 for a Genteel eatery

Three wose men running the kitchen to perfection, great attitude you can tell that the food they produce will be like their smiles and their attitude towards their job it will be just fantastic. I had the Croque Monsieur and french fries I think they are very delicious. The restaurant has good vibes and service, and lovely outdoor seating on a terrace.

Visited twice, for breakfast and dinner and had a delicious meal both times. Had french toast for breakfast and it was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Also really loved the tataki at dinner.

The setting is modern European chic. Fantastic music and relaxed outdoor seating. The place is happening even on weekdays. The drinks are expertly mixed and flying off the counter but the main draw is the food - a limited eclectic menu that changes for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but the food is fabulous. The beets, artichokes, tuna tartare, burrata salad, burnt Caesar were a treat for the senses in taste and presentation. The organic chicken and lamb chops for mains was wonderful. This place is a must do. Prices are a bit high and portions are smaller than usual (French style) but believe me when I tell you that it's incredible value. This is one of the best dinning experiences anywhere in the world. Service is fantastic and Ezgir was really a great helping us at step.

I went there for my birthday brunch couple of months ago with friends, and we were amazed by the whole experience, the food the drinks the staff were all so good.
They started us off with a plate of olive oil and fresh bread which i thought is more italian than french but delicious nonetheless.
The cocktails were so good but I can’t remember which ones we choose but i think i had the yaki one and one of my friends ordered negroni and the other took something with whiskey!
The Thai salad was amazing and flavorful i like the ginger hints in it.
The tagliatelle was amazing too delicious and balanced not a flavor overpowering another.
And i think we went with the dana kaburga it was the star of the table, tender and melt in your mouth good. The mashed potatoes creamy and good, i could order a plate just mashed potatoes!
Love it. Definitely going back.

Me and my girlfriend went for a brunch for new year,s eve. Very instagramy place and food. European type toasts. We had truffle oil french fries, pastrami toasts and pulled beef burger which I strongly suggest all. Every ingredient looked fresh and excellent quality. Next time I will try their cocktails.

We came for New Year’s Eve and we were so happy that we chose Batard to start our evening.

Everything was just incredible from start the finish.
Ümit (our water) was attentive and very helpful when we asked him for recommendations.
The cocktails were very well made and the food was to die for.
The goats cheese and beet I can still taste to this day, the prawn and hummus vegetable salad was so light and fresh, the salmon was cooked perfectly and the delicate mushroom pilav was a perfect way end to the main courses.
The chocolate mousse, that we shared, was perfect for two people (albeit so good that were were fighting for the last couple of spoons).

All in all, a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone!

The menu is also seasonal and changes frequently, so you will never get bored of the dishes regardless of how often you you want to come.
I can’t wait to return again!

⏳NEW UPDATE:

Nearly nine months later, we revisited Batard. The prices did not increase that much compared to other restaurants, some of which doubled the prices. Some of the ingredients of some meals have been updated, or I just felt like that. Korean Tartare improved, but I wouldn’t say the same for Agnolotti. Peas were somewhat hard to chew, but the sauce was fantastic. The service was way too slow, which was ok for us as we usually don’t want to hurry when we eat. It lasted nearly 40 minutes to get our pasta after the Korean Tartare. The other meal we tried was Pancar (I don’t know the English name). It is very delicious, and I suggest you try it. The cheese in it tastes like Danish blue. Overall the presentations of the meals were so elegant. You could just watch the meal as it gives you a lot of visual joy and pleasure.

⌛OLD COMMENT:

We have tried food from both the afternoon and evening menus. All of them were really tasty, and I cannot describe the passion I got with words. I strongly advise pulled beef, Korean chicken burger, a chicken waffle for the afternoon, and Tabaka, Agnolotti, and Korean Tartare from the evening menus. They are at a different league in crispy chicken. The staff were kind and smiling.

Atmosphere is good, you can have a nice time sitting here and enjoying food. Their food is really delicious and tasty, they are not about size, they are about tastes! If you’re looking to taste something new this is your place. The only downside is not being able to see food pictures on the menu. Prices are affordable but a bit expensive. In summary, recommended!

I changed my previously negative review. Here is the new one: I thoroughly liked the food. Almost all the food was delicately prepared and served. Service people was quite nice and attentive. Only downside was that profiterole was not upto my expectations. Anyway it gets 4.5 stars and that means my precious 5!

It was a pleasant experience. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong meal. I saw a picture in a review and I thought it was one meal but it turned out to be another. The manager was very kind and explained the situation politely and asked if I would like to cancel the order and get the one I wanted, which answered yes. And they actually did change the order without any charges. It was a nice meal too

A delicious lunch spot.

The chicken and waffle were ok, so I'd recommend getting something else.

The croque monsieur was amazing!!! Unfortunately you cannot ask for an egg (I do prefer croque madame )

The pastramis sandwhich was nice, but not great so I'd also skip this one.

Overall the place had ~good vibes~ and it was pretty busy on a sunny day so I'd suggest you call in advance.

Great restaurant with an eclectic menu. I opted for the chicken and waffles. Was curious to see how this would be replicated in Istanbul. The dish did not dissapoint. The chicken was juicy and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The waffle, honey and spicy sauce were on point. All in all a very good experience.

The most delicious steak and chicken burger we've ever had. We also had fries and drinks for 3. All cost less than $20.
The staffs were nice and helpful. The indoor and outdoor areas are clean and nice.
We enjoyed our time here, hopefully, you will have the same experience here.

Very tasty food. I like how it is served. It's almost fine dining even though the plate's prices are so reasonable. They have one page menu and they change it every now and then. The staff are super friendly and nice.

We were 10 girls last time and the waiter helped each one of us pay with her own credit card, you can imagine how patient and kind he was.

Came back here again to have lunch with my husband. We loved the food of course. Every thing in batard is special and you can enjoy the quality even in the bread and the Coca-Cola bottle. One of my favorite restaurants.
