Atatürk is a much respected figure in Turkey's history, so it is very interesting to learn more about his life. In this particular house he lived for less than a year, but the museum gives a good overview of his life and tells a bit about Turkish history.

Museum is quite small but well organised. You can see some documents, maps, paintings, photographs, also various things that belonged to Atatürk, mostly clothes, but not only.

Audioguide (available at reception) was very useful. Staff were very nice. The building is easy to find, close to Osmanbey metro station. Free entrance for all (foreigners including) is refreshing and very welcome in the context of Istanbul's many other museums.

The museum of Mustafa Kemal Pasha alias Gazi (the Victorious) alias Atatürk (father of Turks) traces the life of the founder of modern Turkey. We can see plenty of paintings, artefacts and many of his personal objects (watches, clothes, weapons...), official documents of the time, as well as manuscripts and notes in Ottoman language using the Arabic alphabet used until 1928, written by Atatürk's hand, as well as documents where Atatürk himself worked on the transcription in Latin characters.
The entrance is free, and the employees at the entrance are very friendly and willing to give us more information during the visit.

A small but historical museum devoted to the father of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He resided for a short time in this house with his mother and his sister. There are good exhibits from his military days and his later days when he was founding the republic. Fine collection of documents and everyday momentos from fine clothes to gold tipped personally monogrammed cigarettes. It is great to see the events leading up to the republic and the near miracle Atatürk orchestrated.

You can see Atatürk's belongings, things like postcards related to the First World War and the War of Independence, and some things related to Atatürk's aide (one floor was reserved for him).

I must have passed by this place a hundred times and never noticed this Museum. Until I saw school teachers lining up excited kids who couldn't wait to go in. To my surprise this was also the home of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Exquisitely maintained. Wardrobe, bed, office, clothes, shoes, stationery, pictures, and so much more. It was really an overwhelming experience. A must visit for everyone.

About Golden Horn
Estuary in Turkey

The Golden Horn is a major urban waterway and the primary inlet of the Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey. As a natural estuary that connects with the Bosphorus Strait at the point where the strait meets the Sea of Marmara, the waters of the Golden Horn help define the northern boundary of the peninsula constituting "Old Istanbul", the tip of which is the promontory of Sarayburnu, or Seraglio Point. source
