Just across the Galata Tower… linked with it by the Galata Bridge… also in the close vicinity of the Spice Bazaar and Fish Market

Best placement of all the mosques in Istanbul

By night… the atmosphere is great… sea, boats, traffic, thousands of people… a beautiful madness!!!

NOT TO BE MISSED

“New Mosque”. Beautiful mosque on the top of the hill. Walked inside and felt very peacefully. We have met amazing volunteer Mahmoud who had so much interesting things to say about Islam, he gifted us with Korans. Amazing place to visit.

Yeni Cami, also known as The New Mosque, asserts its historical grandeur as an essential piece of Istanbul's rich skyline. Despite its name suggesting otherwise, this 17th-century architectural masterpiece offers a deep dive into the past, standing proudly at the end of the Galata Bridge.

Visitors are often captivated by the mosque's exterior, adorned with intricate Iznik tiles that set a vibrant stage for the opulence within. As you step inside, the ambiance shifts to one of spiritual serenity. The interior is an elegant display of Ottoman design, with cascading domes and semi-domes, each meticulously decorated with calligraphy and floral patterns that create a sense of tranquil beauty.

The mosque is not just a place of worship but a sanctuary of peace amidst the bustling Eminönü district. Even for those not partaking in religious rites, the mosque offers a moment of reflection and respite. The surrounding area, brimming with street vendors and the hum of city life, contrasts with the calm within the mosque's walls, highlighting the harmonious coexistence of Istanbul's daily rhythm with its historical monuments.

Rating: 5/5 – For the beautiful architecture, rich history, and peaceful atmosphere that provides a welcome pause in one of Istanbul's most lively areas.

The construction of the mosque began in 1597, ordered by Safiye Sultan. In 1595 the original formal name "Valide Sultan Mosque". After 1603, the partially constructed structure gradually fell into ruins and was severely damaged during the Great Fire of 1660.

Finally, the mosque was completed in 1663 and inaugurated in 1665. It was renamed the "New Valide Sultan Mosque" or "Yeni Valide Sultan Camii". Nowadays, it is informally shortened as the " New Mosque" or "Yeni Camii".

This mosque is impossible to miss because it's right adjacent to the Spice Bazaar or Egyptian Bazaar.

Alhamdulillah wa syukru lillah, my family and I had a chance to perform solah Zohor. It's a really beautiful mosque in Eminonu. May Allah grant us Jannah, ameen 🤲🏼

The Yeni Cami, or New Mosque, in Istanbul is a striking testament to Ottoman architectural magnificence. Despite its name, it has been a significant part of the city's skyline for over four centuries, dating back to the late 16th century. As a visitor, stepping into the New Mosque is like entering a world of architectural splendor and spiritual tranquility.

The mosque's exterior presents a grandeur that befits its historical importance. The imposing dome and six slender minarets rise proudly above Istanbul's bustling Eminönü district, casting a regal silhouette. Its central dome is beautifully adorned with blue and white Iznik tiles, a hallmark of Ottoman design, creating a breathtaking visual contrast against the marble facade.

Inside, the Yeni Cami envelops you in serenity. The soft, diffused light filters through intricately designed stained glass windows, painting a warm atmosphere that encourages reflection and reverence. The vast courtyard, flanked by arched porticoes and dotted with fountains, is a peaceful oasis amid the city's hustle and bustle.

The New Mosque also boasts a striking ablution fountain made of white marble, adding to the mosque's overall elegance. Visitors can observe the faithful perform their ablutions here before entering the mosque, contributing to the spiritual ambiance.

As with many historic mosques in Istanbul, the Yeni Cami has a rich tapestry of history and culture interwoven with its architecture. It's a place where locals and tourists alike come to experience the beauty of Islamic art and devotion.

In conclusion, the Yeni Cami is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Istanbul's cultural and historical treasures. Its fusion of stunning architecture, rich history, and a peaceful ambiance make it a place where one can marvel at the artistic achievements of the Ottoman Empire and find a sense of calm amid the city's vibrant chaos.

Luckily, my first stop during the Instanbul trip happened to be Yeni Cami Mosque (New Masjid), originally named the Valide Sultan Mosque.

Yeni cami was built in the 1600s in Eminönü quarter of Instanbul. It is situated on the Golden Horn, at the southern end of the Galata Bridge, and is a notable Istanbul landmar, we park the car on the bridge and walk toward masjid to offer Isha prayer. The night views were mesmerizing, and every step was making me more excited to get inside

After prayer, we stopped outside at a mobile stall to enjoy a fresh and warm chestnut to add to the experience

A visual masterpiece. This Cami is definitely in the top 10 of all in Turkiye. It's visible throughout Istanbul and iconic, given its position on the edge of the Bosphorus River. When you think it couldn't get any better, the inside of the Masjid is beautifully decorated and serene. A must see in Istanbul.

The first mosque you see after crossing the bridge like it’s welcoming people from the other side of istanbul. It’s so beautiful at night.

The mosque was closed to visitors when we wanted to visit, but we were able to take a look at the amazing exterior of the structure.

Very nice mosque outside the Egyptian bazar (spice bazar). There are a lot of steps to get into the courtyard of the mosque.
Doesn't get as busy as hagia Sophia or sultanahmet mosque (blue mosque)

This mosque is absolutely stunning. It's so bright and airy and colourful. It's also not nearly as visited as the other mosques nearby, which makes it much more peaceful. I would definitely recommend stopping by to take in all of its beauty.

Imposing 17 Century located not for from the Bosporus strait. A landmark that can be spotted from afar. One end faces the Egyptian Spice bazaar and the other end the bridge that takes you on to the Asian side of Istanbul.

Very spacious, cool and beautiful looking mosque. It's actually very well lit, even during the day. The colour schemes and designs make it stand out compared to most mosques I've seen so far in Istanbul.

Definitely worth checking out if you're by the bazar, want to pray or rest and relax in a calm environment.

After walking around in the historic part of Istanbul, on a hot day, this was the perfect place to visit and relax in a very calm and beautiful environment. The mosque is not only large, cool, and well kept, but also has beautiful decorations on the walls and in special, the domes. I sat on the soft red carpet, and had a few peaceful and restful moments in this enlightening environment.

Beautiful mosque, rightly famous for its maiolics. We were lucky enough to visit it after a recent renovation. The interiors have a bright yet relaxing atmosphere. Very close to the Egyptian Bazaar, don't miss to pop in at least for a few minutes if you are in the neighborhood.

A fine mosque in the Eminönü area very close to the Egyptian/Space bazaar.

The mosque is open for anyone to visit provided that one respects the code of entrance. Muslims can offer prayers and read Quran. There is an area for ablution, and restrooms nearby. Entrance is free of charge.

Close to the mosque are many eateries, Turkish sweet shops, and souvenirs stores. The Eminönü tramway is close-by, too.

We didn't get to enter as it was prayer time for the faithful.

However sitting outside admiring the architecture was a nice experience in itself.

You can't miss this iconic ottoman mosque as you cross the galata bridge. Its free to enter like all the mosque in Istanbul. Beautiful inside and outside. I particularly like the blue, green and white Iznik tiles. There are places for your shoes on the inside. Dress code in place as it's a holy site but there are skirts and shawls available to use.

Such a beautiful mosque mashallah, it’s super grand and situated very near other markets and attractions and it’s situated right next to the bosphorous strait. As usual, don’t visit during prayer hours or else you can’t enter
