It's just one of a kind mosque in Istanbul. It's the only mosque which was made by Arabs during a siege of Constantinople in the 8th century BC. The building was converted to a church in the latin siege. All in all, it has a very rich history. The structure is wooden and the architecture is very different from any other mosque in Istanbul. It's a must see, authentic mosque.

It’s all about the views! Getting here might be confusing though since there is no signage on the door facing the street. Look for the “KTSM” building, go inside, take the elevator to the highest floor, then walk up a flight of steps. Lovely place to watch it rain, too!

The view is great at the rooftop and it looks like not many people know this cafe so it was pretty empty and it was sort of being like in my own rooftop.

Quiet unique architecture building, the whole internal decoration made out of wood. This old mosque called Arab Camii. Actually the mosque was originally a Roman Catholic church erected in 1325 by the friars of the Dominican order. Worth visiting this place.

A hidden gem. Beautifully restored with exquisite timber interior, pillars and ceiling as well as a timber minaret. We visited around midday on a Sunday and the place was deserted - only us!!

The Arabs Mosque in Istanbul features an archaeological architecture different from that of Ottoman Islamic architecture. Perhaps what is most attractive is a passageway under its square minaret leading to the mosque's inner courtyard. The mosque's exterior is stone and brick, while the inner courtyard is entirely timbered, with 22 wooden columns holding its roof. It got its name because many Arabs used to live nearby it, mainly "Arabs of Bani Al-Ahmar", who came to Istanbul from Andalusia after the collapse of the state of Beni Nasir. It is also said that Muslim Arabs established this mosque before the conquest of Istanbul.

Arap Mosque (Turkish: Arap Camii, literally Arab Mosque) is a mosque in the Karaköy quarter of Istanbul, Turkey. The building was originally a Roman Catholic church erected in 1325 by the friars of the Dominican Order, near or above an earlier chapel dedicated to Saint Paul (Italian: San Paolo) in 1233. Although the structure was altered during the Ottoman period, it is the only example of medieval religious Gothic architecture remaining in Istanbul.

The Arab Mosque, which is situated in Karaköy at the European side of Istanbul bulit as a Genoese church before it was transformed to a mosque is a unique historical architecture. Although the structure was altered during the Ottoman era it is the only example of medieval religious Gothic architectures remaining in Istanbul. Nice to see...

One of the oldest masjids in Istanbul and one of the rare gothic-style architected masjids. A lot of historical significance associated with this masjid.
