Calipso

If you are expecting cheap and cheerful, then this is not the place. Calipso is without a doubt, the best seafood restaurant I have dined in, and the election of dishes, both self-chosen and recommended by the staff is amazing. From the initial greeting, to being escorted to the “showroom” and settling the final bill, the staff were friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. There were some unexpected finds, such as the grouper balls in a cherry sauce, which sounds like it shouldn’t work, but absolutely did!!! The standard of presentation and quality of the dishes was spot on every time and would meet high end dining in any country. The whole dining experience for three of us lasted almost two hours. With drinks and wine, the final bill came to ₺4,000 per person, which is around €120, and although for Turkey, this may be considered as a high price for dinner, you would pay significantly more than this in Europe, and possibly have less choice in the seafood available. Would I eat here again? Absolutely I would, and fortunately for me, I will be back in Istanbul in a few months, so I am already looking forward to it!!!

Service was perfect especially Mr Ercan was very friendly and caring with our table. - food was also amazing - my favorite was balikkofte -which was absolutely mouthwatering !
The only negative thing was smoking - but they also have non smoking area to sit .
Food is delicious but this restaurant have to serve much better bread as they have Michelin BibGourmand award- it was ordinary
But all in all, we highly recommend this restaurant even if the prices are a bit high

Wow what an experience! I sampled the whole menu in small portions and Ugur accommodated me incredibly even though I was a single guest. You can see very quickly why they are a Michelin star restaurant with TOP TIER service! Wow again! Keep it up ! Ugur made the experience that much more incredible with a tour of the menu.

Defined one of the best fiish restaurant in anatolia side. Specail cold and hot starters serving with amile faces. Fish and seafoods extremely delicious. Don’t forget to order desserts !

This was the best restaurant I have ever been in my life. I have been many restaurants that have the Michelin star including in USA (New York City, LA) and many countries in Europe but never experienced something similar. The best combination of taste and concept … The service was exceptional and the staff was very professional. While vacationing in Istanbul, I had the pleasure of dining at a quaint restaurant tucked away from the city's hustle and bustle. The standout dish for me was undoubtedly the sea bass. It tasted as if it had been caught just moments before it reached my plate—impeccably fresh and seasoned to perfection. The delicate flavors of the fish were both rich and subtle, transporting me to the very waters from which it hailed. This dining experience not only satisfied my palate but also encapsulated the essence of Istanbul's culinary magic. Highly recommended!

I came across Calipso whilst in Istanbul with my wife. We were looking for something different to eat and Calipso did not disappoint!
Right from the start, the service was second to none, politeness, patience and just so welcoming!
Mr Uĝur and his staff made me and my wife feel so comfortable!
They assisted us in picking our main meal (moon fish), which was well cooked and so tender. They recommended a few starters/ appetisers and the salad, all of which was scrumptious and fresh!
The deserts were absolutely delicious 😋!!!
We'd definitely come back for more!

The seafood was exceptionally delicious. The restaurant offered a non-smoking section, ensuring a pleasant environment. The service was outstanding, and we were delighted to receive two complimentary desserts. Overall, it was a truly wonderful dining experience.

After seeing a few pictures while looking for a place to have dinner, my husband and I stopped by and ended up pretty much blown away by everything.
The service, first and foremost, was incredible. I could not begin to tell you which fork was the right one to use but it didn't matter because I didn't feel out of place either way 😆 Mr. Uğur and Mr. Adem were absolutely lovely.
Mr. Uğur (an absolute gem) recommended the moonfish (iirc) and a salad, and even made sure we didn't order too much (I was a bit overly enthusiastic and wanted to get way more than we needed 🤭).
The appetizers, main dish and desserts... All did wonderful things to my mouth. 10, 10, 10... Tens across the board!
Mr. Adem checked on us to know how everything went and it was just really nice to be that well looked after ☺

Calipso has an amazing open roof terrace garden where you enjoy your evening in a peaceful, friendly ambiance. Next to traditional Turkish sea food starters , try have some special refined home specials . Fine , natural ingredients, excellent service and ambiance. Deserve all appreciations.

We've located this restaurant for its Michelin bib gourmand recognition firstly.

The restaurant is clean, VERY welcoming, passionate to showcase all the food options they have and guide us how to select the mezze platter. I am so happy to choose this place to try the Turkish mezze platter for the first time.

We are here for the birthday and anniversary celebration and see what they have done for us on the table set up. It is lovely and definitely bring love in the air for us.

The FOOD is Simply magical! The octopus is amazing! Calamari is super fresh just like the it just came out of the water to our table, the shrimp is huge and YUM, PERIOD!

We will definitely come back again! Try it out :)

Quite far from the city, but sure worth a visit. Super fresh see food is severed. Frindly staff, who aren't afraid to give advise on the wide collection of their current seafood offerings.

Fantastic place - great atmosphere, very communicative and customer friendly staff, few sets or choice a la carte. We selected middle set with some 10 or do rounds and including desert. Good wine choice. Reasonable prices, pleasant terrace outdoors. If you are allergic to something - just inform the waiter - they will adapt. We were with big group of approx 20 persons and everyone was very pleased. Calipso I strongly recommend and I will be coming back next time I am in Istanbul.

One of the best fish restaurants if not the best in Asian side. Good service, very clean, superb attention to detail, great food. Every dish you try is either very good or suberb. It's not cheap but relatively cheap when you consider the competition. Must book in advance or visit weekends between lunch and dinner time.

Excellent food and service. Loved the selection of fish and the fact you get to pick your own fish for dinner. Easy to get there by car, however would advise to take the metro and walk for 15 minutes along the sea.

This is a very nice restaurant situated at a beautiful location near the sea. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The food is of high quality - different kinds of fish, shrimps, octopus are all very delicious. Besides, they offer nice desserts. The service is also very good and the staff is friendly.

This was our third time at Calipso and the second time after they were recognized by Michelin as a “good food at reasonable prices (bib Gourmand)” restaurant. One goes to Calipso to eat dishes whose main ingredient is fish. Whenever we’re in Istanbul we try to eat “kalkan” and we love Calipso’s “kalkan tandır”. It’s an expertly prepared, incredibly tasty (and very expensive) dish your taste buds will remember long after you’ve left the restaurant. My only gripe is that the best (front) part of the restaurant is where “smoking is allowed” and since almost everyone In Turkey smokes (and smokes while eating!) restaurateurs understandably try to cater to the whims of these people. Non-smokers are sent to the back of the restaurant! I would consider what I paid for the dinner was “very reasonable” by European/N. American standards even if rather expensive for the locals. Highly recommended.
