we got a "private tour" from a very nice older man working there. He explained us everything inside - he didn't speak much English but still tried his best. It's up on a hill so it's quiet & outside of the Skopje centre.

Amazing mosque with a different art. I recommend it for any visitor would like to see something different.
It is only 300 or 400 hundred meters from Besktas Iskele.

Make time to visit this mosque. It’s not on any main thoroughfares but easy to find. When we visited, it was quiet, intimate,
and one of the most beautiful, unique mosques we’ve seen in Istanbul!

Yıldız Hamidiye Camii is a historical mosque located in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was built between 1884 and 1886 during the reign of Sultan Abdulhamid II, and was designed by the Ottoman court architect Raimondo D'Aronco in a combination of Ottoman and European architectural styles.

The mosque is named after the Yıldız Palace, which was the main residence of the sultan during his reign. The mosque features a large dome and two minarets, and its interior is decorated with intricate tilework, calligraphy, and stained glass windows. The mosque also contains a marble mihrab (a niche indicating the direction of Mecca), a minbar (pulpit), and a large chandelier.

Today, the Yıldız Hamidiye Camii continues to serve as an active place of worship for Muslims in Istanbul, and it is also a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can admire the beautiful architecture and decoration of the mosque, and also learn more about the rich history and culture of Istanbul and the Ottoman Empire.

Siltan Abdulhamid has his own carpentry work installed in his mosque which is named Hamidiye after him. The craftsmanship of Sultan Abdulhamid is unique and a true masterpiece. I have not heard or seen another monarch who has a monument built for him and has his own hand work in it.
