I didn't stay here but I went to the restaurant and the museum. It was an amazing experience. The food is on the mellow side compared to other Southern Thai restaurants. This might be because this place is more like Chinese-Thai restaurant. Don't get me wrong. The food is still amazing in its own way. I particularly enjoyed the rambutan curry with grilled pork. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. I also got a chance to talk to one of the owners (the third generation). I loved how she recounted the history of her family and her wish for future generations to carry on the family legacy to contribute to others in society. If you love food, it is already a reason to come here. But if you love culture and community services, you have more reasons to come. Don't hesitate to engage with staffs and owners here. They would love to share their stories :)

Amazing experience. A beautiful restaurant with lots of interesting artifacts around, and some of the best food we have eaten in Thailand. The slow cooked pork, mole crabs, the orange curry, garlic pork… all outstanding. Some interesting cocktails, a choice of wines and super friendly staff.

Another great Michelin restaurant in Phuket, all menu looks amazing and delicious. The house was decorated with charming and full of details. Amazing atmosphere and beautiful views. Thank you so much 😊

Delicious and flavourful thai food. Have to say that the Thai tea here is one of the best we’ve had, so rich. We loved the decorations as well, very vintage Chinese (the house was founded in the 30s by Chinese descendants). If time allows, make sure you visit the museum next door in the main house, it’s a place full of love and emotions (no spoiler here with pictures)

After visiting a few authentic Thai restaurants, this one is my favorite, and it's no wonder, they got a Michilin Star for 2023.

The decoration is of the of the King Rama 6-7 era, heavily Chinese inspired. It feels comfortable and cozy, almost like eating at grandma's house.

The staffs are friendly and helpful, she explained that the building was built in 1939, but they converted it into a restaurant in 2018, using some of the family's recipe as the menu.

The dishes are of local traditional Thai food, these are different than traditional Thai food. The Southern food, I would say is heavier on the flavor. The ingredients used I presumed are of local origin as many of them are grown nearby.

Be sure to try the recommended dishes, those are really good.

The bad news, all of the dishes are so good it's hard to stop eating which is bad for your waist line.

Delicious Southern Thai food. I understand why this is a Michelin-star restaurant. Every dish we ordered was delicious. We were lucky to get to the restaurant before their busy hours. Most of the tables seemed booked on Friday evening for dinner. Their fried crabs and sausage dishes are outstanding.

I came here 2 days in a row for authentic Thai food at a quaint historical home/restaurant/museum. I also had the same meal courses: crab fried rice, sea bass, mole crabs, fried marinated pork belly, if you stay at any resort in Mai khao, you have to eat here. Reservations recommended. Place is nicely lit at night

Really delicious food. We tried the fried noodles which were great, and the massaman curry was excellent. Fried rice was bland in comparison but overall a truly authentic culinary meal. The surroundings are also beautiful and the old is a museum packed with items from yesteryear ((1936). Also, games for kids and the staff were all attentive and we loved it.

My wife and I dropped in for dinner and very much enjoyed the meal, atmosphere and history of the house. The food features many local ingredients and it showed in the result. Absolutely delicious dinner. The gift store and museum are well worth a visit.

Went there for the food. It was quite nice. Did not reserve but the waitress got us a table.
Will come back again if have the chance.

Like the deep fried sea mole.

We stayed in Thailand for 4 days and ended up eating dinner there every single night!! It was the best Thai food we’ve ever eaten and the family of staff were so welcoming and gentle. Special mention to the mother of the house she has some real swag ;) p.s. they even helped us start our car when our battery went flat, you know who you are Odd, thank you so much! Really amazing people.

What a great find! Booked after reading up about the place and the great reviews. Wasn't sure how the transport would work but it was 500baht from mai Khao and the taxi waited for us for up to 3 hours. The cocktails were interesting with a definite herbal base. Food was beautifully presented and definitely on the spicier side than we'd been eating but absolutely delicious and manageable. Staff were lovely and we even walked back in daylight to visit the museum we'd missed. Keep up the great work for your community!

I came to visit with a group of unprivileged Thai children. Because this place has a similar mission than ours, it did not charge our group to visit the premises. It's quite a charming spot with a beautiful history. I only got to taste their coffee but I'll definitely come back again to try the restaurant.

So delicious! Arrive from the back side road. Had pineapple salad, sautéed crab, tofu and cashew chicken. Black iced tea was amazing. Earned its Michelin mention. Go!

Quaint place within 15 mins taxi ride from Splash Beach Resort. Found this place on some Michelin guide. Reservations for dining cannot be done on google maps you have to visit their website to book via their number.

Food is excellent - so much variety of delicious foods, clean toilets, interesting decors. They also cater as a small motel and bar

Excellent restaurant for lunch / dinner. A bit on the expensive side for the neighbourhood but worth every penny.

Try the following:
- braised pork belly
- Andaman vegetable
- any prawn dish
- fresh mulberry juice

We were staying at Mai Khao Beach so location is near for us. The hospitality and story behind this place is awesome. The owner son is very friendly and allowed us to walk around the house.
Food is nice and would definitely visit again. The cause of starting and maintaining thia place is to help the local community. So i feel that the purpose and heart behind this place is amazing. This place give out an awesome vibes too, just nurturing.

This place is incredible.

I enjoy the food. It is not only from the taste, it also they support the ingredients sources from local communities. I also impress the concept of this restaurant that lead me to feel good that they keep supporting people who need help around the place. This place is also have a creative decoration. I enjoy all little detail in decoration.

After visiting 2 other Bib Gourmand listings at the Old Phuket town, we found Toh Daeng at Baan At-Jor to be one of the more interesting and better Bib Gourmand restaurant on Phuket island.

They are located about 15 mins from Phuket International airport which makes it a perfect place to have a leisurely lunch (Hokkien-Thai cuisine) prior to boarding our late afternoon flight.

Their drinks list is very simple:
Rum/Whiskey cocktail
Chang Beer
House Red and White wines

But they allow BYOB at a corkage of 500 Baht and they have decent Bordeaux wine glasses.

Ambience is very quaint, colorfully decorated. All the dishes were excellent with the recipes mostly handed down. A must visit for a unique dining experience in Phuket.

Baandee Ajor is a restored Peranakan mansion. These mansions are common in Penang, Malacca and Singapore. Very well restored and maintained. Full of wonderful artefacts from the past. I totally loved it. There is also a restaurant in the place. The food is fantastic. One of the best I have had in the Mai Khao area. We were fortunate enough to meet Odd, the owner who gave us a great tour and history of the place.
