Pha Taem National Park

Great route to learn history as well as great place for exercise. The whole route will be 3.2 KM but optional is to go half way and go back. Feel like Indiana Jones. Love this place

One of the best National Park I've visited in Thailand. Scenic view, good campsite, great tourist attractions. Pre-historic painting and easy trail track for a little adventure.

Pha Taem National Park is located at Mekong River in Ubon Ratchathani province. The other side of the river is Laos. There is a fee entering to the national park I.e. for local is baht 40 and foreigner is baht200. The fee is included to Soi Sawan Waterfall area as well. Pha Taem is the first area that get sunrise and sunset in Thailand.
There are prehistoric ancient paintings discovered in this national park and divided into 4 groups. You may need more than 3 hours to see all this ancient paintings and the journey is challenging.

This nation park is very beautiful and worth the money! The nature is very pretty and a lot of things to see if You like nature. The painting there is between 3000 and 4000 years old and wow. The walk is maximum 3.5km and a must. But use good shoes please because sometimes it's wet and slippery. The views are amazing

WOW!!! Amazing national park with huge pre-historic paintings. The place was well maintain make it easy to access and walk around. The track was easy to walk under the cliff to see the gigantic paintings and up along the edge of the cliff to see sceneric view of the great Mae Khong River. The staff at the park office was informative and helpful. However the parking lot is on a field of wavy rock.

Pha Taem National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติผาแต้ม) located right by Mekong River has been one of the popular national park in Thailand, named after their unique geographic (the large cliff) and history of an ancient paintings on the rocks

Pha Taem also offers the nature loop trial approximately 4km that will take around 2hrs to complete. The trial will allow you to explore more than 300 paintings on the stone wall with difference shapes such as people, animals, utensils, symbols, and human palms

Being one of the most beautiful place to watch sunrise in Thailand, locals usually camping in the national park during New Year festival and celebrate their new beginning with a beautiful scenery right by Thai-Laos border

A UNESCO World Heritage Site in Ubon Ratchathani

Great park with cliff and rocks.
Very big if you want to do all in the same day specialy if you ride a motobike.
I did it on 2 days. Rangers on 2nd day (North of the park) was so kind, he didn't ask me to pay again.

Come here to see sun rise, this trip is worthwhile as the scene is scenic and beautiful. Driving here can be tough on car absorber/suspension due to uneven ground when closer to destination. Many areas for amazing photoshoot but take precaution. Death is certain if fall over the cliff especially when wind is strong and too busy taking photo while not looking at footing.

Recommend to check out the exhibition area to get some idea before venturing into the wall drawing area. The total trip is about 4.3 km but the key visit area is just the first 3 spot which is around 850m walk from car park.

Wear comfortable shoe, bring food and drink water. The cafe opens only at 8am and doesn't serve food. On the day of my visit, there is not a single shop selling food so best bring your own food.

This is a beautiful national park with great views of the Mekong River on the border of Laos and Thailand. There is hiking opportunities here and great places to take some beautiful photos. There is a walking track with some ancient art works which is fairly easy to do. And some other walking tracks around the park. Should go during winter because the paths is under the cliffs it's would be really hot during summer it's kinda great! It's in the country side of Thailand

Pha taem in thai mean "The painted cliff" because there's an ancient painting on the cliff side , our guide says that it's the picture of the fish catchers, elephant, dolphin, freshwater stingray and turtles actually it's a lot more i don't want to spoil y'all

For me It's like they tried to told the story of their life to someone or something to find it later (my father had the theory that they do it before leaving the place because of drought , because they rest their hands on the cliff and blow the paint on it to create hands print, our guide say they have about 200 handprint)

This beautiful cliff over looking the river made me reflect on how people communicate through storytelling and how much we've achieved with modern technology in contrast to simple expression on the walls.

One of my favourite national parks in Thailand. Just visited for the second time and still amazing. The size of the cliff with its view down the Mekong is just spectacular. Also the walkway on the bottom of the cliff is very well made and interesting in many ways. Plenty of parking available everywhere. Had to pay 400 THB entrance for foreigner. Nice waterfalls in the area around as well.

Most beautiful national Park in Issan.
You can easily spend 2 nights in the park.
The park is divided in 4 section from South to North (well depend how you start) but Headquarters and Tourist informations is in the southern part of the park.

The cave painting are located to the 1st part (South part)
Good beautiful hikes are located around the 2nd and 3rd part.
The 4th (North) is where you can spend a night in a tent to see the sunrise. And beautiful view point. BE CAREFUL to go to the view point you need to check the hours to go up and down (you need to check the schedule on the national Pha Taem Facebook page)

I love everything here but the heat haha. I’d suggest to visit this place in October onwards. The day that I visited was around 45 celsius degrees. Just FYI, the national park won’t allow you to fly the drone unless you have the license and permitting document etc.

Pha Taem National Park is in Ubonratchatani province. It can be accessed by car. I flew from Chiang Mai to Ubonratchatani. The next day I drove to visit many places including Pha Taem National Park. The place is special. Have some old paintings on walls,but it takes quite very long distance walk to explore, therefore, I explored only the first spot. The big stones look like a mushroom. The landscape is also very beautiful. The temperature is pleasant. You can spend the whole day at Pha Taem and stay overnight.

Shoe's are recommended if you want to go see the paintings.

this national park is very big. unfortunately, I couldn’t explore all areas in one day. So I gonna review some parts of my journey.
That day I came, it had a few visitors because the season that I went was nearly winter. It was quiet and there were not many stores open in the park, thus, I didn't go out to eat for lunch. There is no water spot and the waterfalls are not recommended to go for the view because it was nearly dried. But wildflower fields at Soi Sawan waterfall was blooming. The field is not much far from the center camp but it necessary to go by car. The view was incredible. The sunset behind Khong river and all the colors of carnivorous wildflower was remarkable in my memory, I must find the opportunity to visit here again.
