The decor of the hall is old-style but it fascinated me so much that we were just staring at it for a while. It reminded me of all the great moments spend in the British style Movie halls in Kolkata during my childhood. The movie ticket is priced reasonably and there is a cafe which sells popcorn and drinks at normal prices. I hope this movie hall survives cause world over these are a disappearing breed.

A soon to be nostalgic cinema, Scala is a stand alone Cinema that has been in Siam since the 70's. Theres two years contract left before Chula ( the land owner ) wont renew the contract. Support and experience a past through this cinema with a mix of alternative and mainstream films showing right in the heart of Bangkok. Tickets ranged from 120 , 140 and 160 with a wide screen and air-conditioned cinema. A must visit before its gone forever.

I've been to theaters inside malls around Bangkok but this place is a must see. It's an old gem in the middle of the city. I'm glad to see that they were able to preserve even the old ticketing and seat selection system. As for the cost of a movie, 120 baht for Thor. Not bad at all! Audio is good, the screen is also good.

UPDATE: This theater was closed early 2018

Stepped into the 80s but with cool airconditioning and sound systems. Cheapest ticket is 120 baht which will get you about 10 rows away from the screen which is good enough. The seats are not very clean though, had two insect bites at the end of the movie.

An old theater that uses the traditional projector. Place is probably 20 years old. We held live shows there. Theater seats 880 people

Only got one theater showing movie. Very cheap compared with other cinema. Very old school building, can relive those good old times.

Best place to see a movie in Bangkok - modern digital theater in a historic retro setting. Interesting selection of blockbuster and indie and foreign films and very inexpensive ticket and snack prices. Tasty popcorn too. Support the last unique theater left in Bangkok! :-)

July 5th, 2020 was the last day of Scala, the 51-year-old stand alone theater in Siam Square. Scala is one of the last stand alone theater in Thailand with classical and unique architecture. It is such a shame that this wonderful theater won't exist anymore.

Historical independent cinema. Digital screening, much cheaper than the big multicineplex. Price THB100-140, and THB80 for early weekend show. Good popcorn costs THB40 & reasonable price of snack and drinks

Classic Thai cinema, not the most modern compared to new Cineplex's but has a certain charm and iconic interior architecture.

The only standalone theater in Bangkok. Still perseveres as same as 50 years ago (2019).

Such an old beautiful cinema. I hope they manage to save it from being demolished and turned into a fancy shopping mall.

Absolutely amazing experience. They screen one movie in a loop several times a day, you can check the title and the times online. EN subtitles available. The sala is huge and the seats are really comfortable. They even let you bring popcorn inside. I wish more people would visit and appreciate old school cinemas like this one.

P.S. Bring your own toilet paper/tissues for the toilet 😉 and don't search for it anywhere in the waiting area, toilets are located inside after a sweet gentleman at the entrance checks your tickets.
