Amazing place, the pier gets a little crowded during during the arrival amd departure of ferries though. There are multiple 7-11 and other local street food vendors right outside. You can also avail the facility of rented scooters from here.

Everybody takes their first step onto the paradise from here.

Hotel receptionists will be greeting you here upon your notification in advance. Shuttles will take you to the hotel you belong. If you do not make arrangements with your hotel, you will have to pay minimum 300baht by the so call taxi.

Certainly you can choose accommodation nearby in walking distance but quality is much inferior. For spending few hundred Baht more, I prefer to the resort on the other end of the beach. For a more delightful snorkelling vacation, I prefer the hotel at the other side of the island, like Sharks Bay, Tanote Bay, Hin Wong Bay, Ao Leuk Bay. Certainly you have to pay more.

Port for ferries coming from Samui. Not overly crowded and plenty of restaurants, accommodations and shops. I would recommend dining here and take a walk on the pier in the evening. Very relaxing experience.

Bustling peir gateway to Koh Tao. All the boats to and from the mainland and KO phangan Samui, Surathani and Chumphon including night boats and catermaran all leave from here. Taxis to all areas of the island run from here ,there also lots of cheep bike rentals, but beware don't rent if you can't ride. Just friendly advice. There's also loads of cafes bars restaurants etc.

Best to buy a ticket in advance as the boat sometimes fills up during high season.

We took lomprayah ferry to Ko Tao. Very organized and prompt service. Pier provided food and washrooms.

Mae Haad is the main city on Koh Tao, and the pier is where it’s happening. Everytime a boat comes in (and the islanders know every boat arrival) the hotels and dive centers sends representatives to try to persuade you to stay with them. Already booked? Fine, you will probably see someone from your hotel to pick you up. No booking yet? Fear not, there’s always someone here to sell you a room. I always try to act cool and walk towards Sairee to haggle prices myself. Did you get past the touts, then you want to head 25 meters up the main road and find the 7-eleven. Here you stack up on essentials and cool down in the severely airconned shop. Prepare to go outside and meet the shouts for «taxee-taxee» and «penceek-penceek» and let your Koh Tao adventure start. Mae Haad pier will fix all your worries!

I arrived here by boar from koh samui. The area has some restaurants and also scooter rentals. Taxis are expensive on the island. I recommend to rent a scooter or motorcycle. It's much cheaper then going around by taxi.

Convenient pier in koh tao. Very easy to board the seatran discovery ferry here. The ticket office opens at 6am. Outdoor seating available.

Night boat to Surat Thani. Leaves at 9pm, arrives 5 am.

It is a basic boat with rows of thin mattresses, usually with every bed taken.

You can buy a ticket at the dock, agency or online. Dock 600bht, agency 700bht, online 900bht.

It is cheaper at the dock, however the boat can be very busy and the size of the boat depends on the day you go, so to guarantee a space buying from an agency might be best. Hostel check in in most places closes at 8pm, so if you miss the boat you could be without a bed for the night.

Great place to watch the sunset and the evening hustle at the port.
