Visiting the Big Buddha Temple in Bangkok is an experience that stays with you. From the moment my friend and I set foot on the temple grounds, we were swept away by the serenity and beauty that enveloped us. The temple, also known as Wat Phra Yai, houses an enormous golden Buddha statue that is not only a testament to religious devotion but also a masterpiece of Thai craftsmanship. Standing at an impressive height and visible from miles away, it dominates the landscape with a calm yet majestic aura.

The temple is nestled on a hill, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The journey up the steps to the Big Buddha is a spiritual ascent into a realm of peace and contemplation. The atmosphere is thick with the scent of incense and the sounds of distant chants, which enhances the sense of spirituality that permeates the place.

The architecture of the temple, with its intricate designs and traditional Thai elements, is a visual treat. The Buddha itself is a sight to behold, with each detail of the statue meticulously crafted, radiating a sense of inner peace that is almost tangible.

What made the visit truly memorable was the warm hospitality of the locals and the monks who maintain the temple. They share stories and insights about the temple’s history and significance, which enriches the visit far beyond a simple tourist experience.

The Big Buddha Temple is not just a place to visit; it's a place to experience tranquility, reflect on life, and appreciate the beauty that human faith and artistry can create. For anyone traveling to Bangkok, this is a must-visit destination that offers a unique blend of spiritual enrichment and cultural exploration.

Entry is free to this place. If you taking public transport then it's a long and steep walk to reach the place. The place has a sense of calmness. Place was very clean. Great place for prayers. The view from top is really good. Must do this place if you coming to Pattaya. Way back the taxi guy charged 200 bahts to drop us to beach road. It was worth the visit.

It is very easy and well worth while to visit The Big Buddha Temple, which is on a hilltop in the Jomtien district and offers great views of the surrounding area. The Temple is 18 meters made of gold-plated concrete. It includes a temple complex with several smaller Buddha images, prayer halls, and meditation areas. Just a nice, relaxing, peaceful place.

Wonderful place to visit in the morning for a sunrise or early evening for sunset, as the view is quite nice and the many statues beautiful.

This is a special temple in Pattaya, but can feel overly touristic and monetary, but this shouldn't detract from the experience.

Sunrise, you'll likely be the only visitor and have the whole place to yourself like I tend to do often.

amazing place. The view from the mountain is very impressive and gives a beautiful view of all the beaches. It is important to know that the place of the Buddha is very holy to Thai people and it is important to behave respectfully towards the place. They make sure that women's who enter the place cover their upper bodies and legs. There is a souvenir shop and t-shirts for tourists. You don't need more than a 30-minute visit. If you need to go to the bathroom it is better to stop before you arrive.

The Big Buddha Pattaya is also known as Wat Phra Khao Yai and is located at the highest point in the city. From here you have a beautiful view over Pattaya and Jomtien. Since the Big Buddha is located on a mountain, it is also called Big Buddha Hill Pattaya.

The highlight of Big Buddha Hill Pattaya is the 18 meter high Buddha statue, which is completely gold-plated. The tall Buddha figure is almost 100 meters above sea level and therefore looks as if it were towering over the city. But the Big Buddha is not the only Buddha figure on the site. You will also find seven other Buddha statues arranged around the large Buddha.

The Buddha Temple was built in the 1940s, when Pattaya was not yet a tourist resort. The large Buddha figure was subsequently erected in 1977. A visit to the Big Buddha in Pattaya is worth it, especially because of the great location and the Buddha Temple, which is well worth seeing. Big Buddha Hill is just a few minutes from the city center and is therefore easily accessible.

A pleasant cultural experience! There weren’t a lot of people when we visited, so we didn’t have to queue. We didn't need to pay an entrance fee, although the guard asked me to cover my short shirt and pants with this “sarong”, which I didn't mind, of course!
On the top of the hill, there were a lot of Buddha statues and a place where we could place our money offerings.

No lineups. No tickets are required. Just a taxi or bus tour to the location. There is a snack bar there for drinks and light snacks. There's a free washroom facility. Easy to walk the steps. Not as hard as the photos may appear. Short little wide steps. Great views.

Visiting Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, particularly the Big Buddha, was an incredible experience. The atmosphere was serene, and the craftsmanship of the temple was impressive. The best view of the Big Buddha, however, came from the boat trip. Highly recommend experiencing this tranquil and beautifully crafted site, especially for the breathtaking view from the boat. A must-visit in Bangkok!

I had a wonderful time at Big Buddha Pattaya, a temple located on Pratumnak Hill, a hilltop overlooking Pattaya and Jomtien beaches. The temple is famous for its 18-meter-high golden Buddha statue, which is one of the largest in the region. The temple also has several other statues and images of Buddha and other deities, as well as a beautiful garden and a meditation hall.
I went to the temple in the afternoon, when the sun was shining brightly and the sky was clear. I was amazed by the size and detail of the golden Buddha, which sparkled in the sunlight. I also enjoyed the views of the city and the sea from the hilltop. The temple is a working place of worship, so I respected the locals and the monks who were praying and offering alms. I also witnessed some ceremonies and rituals taking place, which gave me a glimpse of the Thai culture and religion.
The temple is easy to access by public transportation or taxi, and there is no entrance fee. However, visitors should dress modestly and cover their shoulders and knees, as a sign of respect. There are also some stairs to climb to reach the platform where the Buddha statue is, so it may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. Overall, I recommend visiting Big Buddha Pattaya if you are looking for a spiritual and cultural attraction in Pattaya.

1. The statue is so big and golden.
2. The ambience is very pure.
3. The vendor sellers are looters asking for money 3 to 4 times higher than any other shops or online.

The Big Buddha Temple in Bangkok is a must visit place. I visited the temple via a tour guide and I was swept away by the serenity and beauty of the location. The temple is also known as Wat Phra Yai, (as locals call it) encompassing an enormous golden Buddha statue that is a masterpiece of Thai craftsmanship.

The temple is located on a small hill, offering breathtaking views of the Pattaya city where you can see all zones from one place. I could feel the spiritual connection while climbing up to the temple and the aura of incense made me completely immersed into the world of spiritual life. Once stepping into the temple, they shared stories and insights about the temple’s history and significance, which enriches the visit far beyond a simple tourist experience. Free entry. Big Buddha and other statues, pictures, descriptions, and prayer area with candles and donation boxes and coin area: up long steps and on a hill - where you can also get a good view of the city.

It’s a genuine 5 star landmark and the park also has some Japanese designed gardens.
