Esan Family

This shop provides authentic Esan (northeast) foods (also have raw meet provided, must try if you are brave enough). The atmosphere is like Thai restaurant in rural area 20 years, rarely hard to find nowadays. The price is reasonable. The staffs are very nice. And hope you enjoy the foods there.

We came here on a whim and we are so glad we did! The food was super tasty, authentic and obviously made with care and love. We ordered the pork belly in fish sauce, cabbage and fish sauce, pork laab and they recommended their chicken and pumpkin soup. Whilst the interior is rather basic the food most definitely is not!

Delicious local family Thai restaurant at very reasonable authentic local prices . Specialty in bbq meat and fish as well as noodle soups. We shared a catfish 70 baht with sticky rice 10 baht, fried vegetable 70 baht , and 2 fresh coconuts. Rustic place with simple wooden bench seating.

This family-run restaurant on Koh Kood is a hidden gem! The BBQ, including beef, pork, and chicken skewers grilled over an open fire, is simply amazing. The unique order-by-writing-your-choice system adds to its charm.

We first visited in March 2023 and couldn't resist returning during our trip in January 2024.

Absolutely LOVED the food here. Came back multiple times which we don't normally do. Deep fried chicken wings, the grilled pork neck, the papaya salad and the morning glory are all incredible. Very generous portions of the meat dishes and great value.

Only dish that could have been improved was the fried rice, but we only ordered that to bulk out the other dishes anyway. Loved it here. 10/10 recommend

Also right opposite there is a filter water machine where you can refill your water bottles for 1 baht - save the planet while you're here!

Best esan food in the island. Family is very friendly, food and seafoods are fresh all the time, barbecue, beef grilled and papaya salad are amazing, prices are very cheap, restaurant is close to Ao Tapao beach and open late, I recommend it.

A gastronomic paradise from Isaan to Koh Kood. Excellent delicious food and nice staff. We have tried several restaurants but this one is a favorite.

Despite the amount of classy looking establishments Esan Family comes out top in comparative quality , quantity and price. Here you can have a Nam Tok Neua of better quality than a steak at three times the price in more upmarket locations. The family work hard and it's always worth the wait as they usually have multiple orders per table.

Better than great! Authentic Esan food. Everything was amazing. Larb, som tum, grilled meats, salads….all perfect. Go now and then go back! Very very very good!!!

We’ve been in Thailand for 20 days and this is so far the best food in terms of taste and price. The pork belly is the best!

Best meal I had on Koh Kood. The place looks a little more rickety than some of the swankier restaurants on the island but don't let this fool you. They do some serious cooking here.

Authentic e san food. Wife is from Udon Thani, she says it’s the best papaya salad and mushroom soup she’s had since we’ve been in Thailand over the last week.

Barbecue chicken was very very good.

We will be going back tomorrow for lunch.
