My family just spent 5 days at this lovely place. My kids, aged 7,9 loved the daily kayaking, incredible fish and delicious breakfasts. We stayed in cabin 1 which was so open and beautiful. The restaurant prepared excellent food (some of the best Tom yum soup and Massaman curry we had) and we especially enjoyed the peacefulness of the place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would love to return again!

Rented a kayak from here to go down the river to another place out on the beach and returned and had dinner here. It was delicious, and being by the river was beautiful and peaceful and made for a beautiful dining experience. Bring mosquito repellent, though.

This was by far the best stay we had in thailand! First of all, the staff members are very kind, helpful and experienced. The ambience of Ban Makok, a bit hidden in the mangroves of Koh Kood, was exactly what we were looking for after many somewhat trashy and loud places in Thailand. Everything was clean, authentic and had a cute vibe and atmosphere. Last but not least, the food is amaaaazing. It starts with a good varying breakfast menu, stretching to amazing fish for lunch or diner. Definitely recommended!

Very nice place. Embracing by nature, mangrove forest and Klong Yai Kee. Accessible by taxi and boat.

Kayaking and StandUp Paddle is available.

Very unique experience!
We had a family trip over a weekend while I was visiting Thailand. This place is different because they are sitting on a river bank and close to a river mouth opening to an ocean. The hotel itself reminded me of a rustic old-style Thai house. The room is pretty basic. Unfortunately, an AC was not working but it is not too bad because it is "winter" and the place is surround by trees.
The service was nice. Also, the foods were yummy - breakfast and dinner were great (we had lunch somewhere else). It was very peaceful at dawn - some relaxing sounds from crickets, birds, and chickens. I woke up early and really enjoyed the morning time. It definitely was a getaway for me. I only wish this place was closer to Bangkok.

We LOVED our experience at Bann Makok! It was the perfect place to enjoy a few days of rest and relaxation. All of the food prepared in the restaurant was delicious and absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the view from our porch overlooking the mangroves and hearing all the sounds of nature surrounding us. The beach is close enough to kayak to and is really quite beautiful. The outdoor shower and Thai style bath is a wonderful addition to room 7! A mosquito net and fan are provided.

Some TIPS -
Most of the staff does not speak English but are very friendly and helpful
If you want to swim in the ocean, you have to kayak to the beach in one of the free kayaks (loved it!)
No AC but the fan and windows were sufficient to keep us cool
Breakfast is included, and its DELICIOUS!
Food is a little pricey but well worth every baht!
The walls are thin so you can hear your neighbor but overall its a very quiet place
If you can get picked up by boat at the pier instead of taking the walkway behind you'll get a better first impression.
Western toilet in bathroom.
Ask to see the beautiful lightning bugs at night!
2 bottles of water provided daily

This place is pure paradise. Stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. Food’s great. The staff friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Also one of the best secluded beaches a short kayaking trip away. Relaxation at its best. In the heart of the jungle.

Nicely located near the river. Atmosphere is chill and the menu contains many different style of dishes. Wines are also available around 900- 1000 THB. They also provide wine coolers. Prices are not the cheapest but food is worth tasting. Seatings are inside and also outside right under the hot sun. Can go swimming or kayaking too.

Did not stay here...but saw a few of the rooms today preseason because we are on our sailboat...came to this bay and wandered in on the staff prepping this resort for opening day in a few days (for the season). It looked very clean ,very personalized....and very homey! The staff was very freindly. I have my boat to live on but by the tine I left I was already dreaming up a special occassion to come there for a night or two. As close to living in the jungle as you can get...but still be comfortable and pampered! I would recommend this resort for anyone who wants something a little out of the ordinary, relaxing, a place to hang out at, drink coffee, take a long lunch, or even a long bath...at least one of their roons has a big tub! Or read a book, walk to a waterfall or town(steep!), rebt a motorbike to see the islandm..but still a very easy walk or paddle to a beautiful beach.

Beautiful little village that's a little away from even the tiny bit of buzz you find in other parts of the island. A couple of intimate beaches and nice restaurants, plus the ferry to Koh Mak, and that's pretty much it.

We found this place by chance and the owner showed and explained us everything. She was really friendly and kind. She also mentioned glowing plankton (dec - feb). When we came back in the night (~8:00 pm), she encouraged us to go swim and offered towels. When we went in and swam into the dark areas, the water began to glow around our limbs. Really a once in a lifetime experience. Everybody should try!!
