Makathanee Resort Koh Mak

I love this hotel and their staff. The ladies at the front desk and kitchen / restaurant staff have made this a memorable experience. The daily interactions with them were always pleasant and left my wife and I smiling. Those people alone give this place 5 stars!

The pool is large and relaxing. You also have some beach access with chairs on the grass that are rarely all taken. The upstairs bar is nice, but a bit on the expensive side.

The rooms are good, but a little long in the tooth. The house keeping staff is OK, but as we stayed here 2 weeks and about every 3 days flipped the sign to get our room cleaned it seemed like a rushed job. We did however get towels, coffee, and water daily though dropped off at 0900.

Last the beach. Sadly trash washes up daily and most days it was in the water just off shore. It is a shame because the beautiful view you have from here makes you just want to jump in. Really I took this as a lesson to reflect on. I definitely will try to use less single use plastics in the future because it is killing this planet.

Great hotel with great location. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and modern. Great view at the pool and the sea. Breakfast was versatile. They rent us motorbike as well and sell speedboat tickets to koh chang. Great services and beautiful beach.

Went on holiday with our adult daughter and it was very relaxing we love it here! Just be careful of the spikes (sea urchin) in the ocean wear aqua shoes

Super beautiful place to be, nice air con small villa perfectly facing the ocean view. With an extra sunset view. Nice staff all around. Paddle board, fishing gear, are available.

We stayed on a sea facing villa. It had tge best sea facing view you can dream off. Sunet view, small islands , clear water, clear sky, no water sports disturbance and many more features for a relaxed family trip. It also has swimming pool, bar, resturant, carts, e-bike and scooters on rent. Leelawadi speed boat dropped us at the door step, so no hussle after reaching the Koh Mak Island. Everything about the resort was very satisfying and enjoyable. The only exception being the breakfast. But there are many options around the island for food and drinks.

This place is very beautiful. 4 or 5 other restaurants to choose from just outside. Staff is super friendly, many speak English. My king size bed was perfect. Rooms are very quiet. All with great views. I would recommend to anyone traveling to Koh Mak

We spent there 2 nights (5 people/family, 3 rooms), the rooms are really nice and clean, breakfast is really good. They came to pick us up at the beach for free when we arrived and they drop us when we left. The swimming pool and the location are both great, you can eat just in front of the beach for dinner and breakfast. The staff is really polite and friendly and prices are good according with the quality of the services!

Really good location next to the pier so it's very easy to get to. The resort is in two sections. A multi story hotel and several beach front bungerlows. The sea is calm, clean and warm to swim in safely. They have a restaurant that serves good quality food at reasonable prices. Motor bike hire is available from the hotel from 200.00 Bth per day and it's a really good way to get around this beautiful island. Its a good location to all the shops and restaurants. We stayed in a beach front bungalow and it's was spacious. I can't comment on the hotel it self.
The staff here are really friendly and helpful and the grounds are well maintained.

My friend and I shared a budget twin room. The beds were very comfortable, and that's all we needed really. Above the Clouds Bar is a perfect spot to relax and take in the sunset views of the beach. Good food, friendly staff, and perfect location.

You can tell the owners care about the resort which was a nice change from our last island visit.

Koh Mak is an amazing island and Makathanee is a great resort - not too expensive, clean modern rooms and a good location.

It's also right next to the pier that you get dropped off at from the speedboats, so it's quite convenient.

Nice, with convenient speedboat to pier at resort via the lawaandee boat service. Beach good with great swimming in sea with gentle sloping beach, very relaxing.

Expectations were to see some desolate house with nothing inside except insane prices, but I was very wrong. Makhatanee is located as good as one can be located on koh mak and what we paid during the low season made it overwhelmingly price worthy. The staff were always very helpful and had a tendency to actually understand you and respond to that, very refreshing. Our room was tidy and no quirks except for the typical thai toilet that can give you a challenge flushing it. Breakfast included was a delight, and all other prices were at the bottom range for this island.

Great food, friendly staff, clean rooms, awesome beach. Bed was a little hard for my taste (I'm american) but my girlfriend whose originally from thailand had no problem with it.

We really enjoyed our stay there. We would of stay longer if we could. We were able to relax and enjoy the beach every day. We enjoyed the restaurant and the breakfast was great.

If you looks for a peaceful and quiet place to relax on your holiday then this is the place to go. Good food, great service and fantastic location p.s. suitable for couple and family

Realy helpfull staff. I cant say anything about resort but ladys at reception were realy realy helpfull and kind- I was booking there a trip ro koh kood and to bangkok
