Beautiful dam waterway with great views. You can take a boat ride around the dam if you have time. There is a cafe, restaurant and ice cream shop. The gardens are a beautiful and relaxing place to spend some time and take a picnic if you like. There is a good course if you like to play also a resort if you want to stay over it's a bit expensive to stay but there are many other cheaper options nearby.highly recommend a visit here heaps of photo opportunities. It's free to enter but you have to pay for the boat trip not sure how much

Amazing spot to visit for a day out. Boat ride is a bit noisy but scenery is stunning and the little spot on the lake for a break is so tranquil.

Lake Cheow Lan is a great place for nature lovers! The conserved national park area should be on every offbeat traveller's bucket list. You get to trek, swim, paddle boat, see deep caves and waterfalls apart from flaura & fauna.
Also, if going there, spend 2-3 days at any resort/hotel/hostel near Khao Sok national park. Enjoy Jungle Safari, Night Canoeing and spotting Rafflesia Flower blooming (Largest Flower in World). Hope my review helps.

Surreal outstanding scenery. Like in the wildest Hollywood movie. One of the most beautiful places of the world. Best to choose a floating bungalow more at the end to have a longer boatride. Also Buddha Cave is soo special

My friend, Jack from Khian Sa brought me here. What a beautiful place, so peaceful and relaxing. This big dam/lake is surrounded by mountains and the color of the water is beautiful. No wonder the locals named it "The Guillin of Thailand". I will definitely come back.

Scenic view from the Dam

We travelled by our bike and loved the scenic view
Location was easy with the use of the GPS
Shops and refreshments were closed at the location so you may want to carry water or refreshments
Over all we loved the views and definitely going to lock them In our memory books

Beautiful nature. Much more to see!
Good for weekend getaway. Backpacking with friends for some adventures.
Or you could take a boat trip for a day tour or more.
It’s a National park of Thailand. Don’t expect any fancy or luxurious stuffs for tourists.
The place and facilities are very local and down to earth. Foods are also local too but fresh and tasty.
Nature is succulent and beautiful. Water is very clear that you can see the fishes!
Kayak for exploring or swimming with the fishes are popular activity here.
There’s various choices of sight seeing points. English tour guide is available at the tourists information. Other languages tour guide is also available but you need to book in advance.
Recommended.

Good pace to have a refresh , there are some resorts but need to book in advance better. But remote and away from normal roads, either need own transport till pier then boat, or resort will arrange transport - if need to cross and travel through Dam to resorts. Water amazing clear blue 😍

Amazing scenery, clear water. Try to be here in early morning, so that the sun won't be too strong for roofless boat, or others get some cover or the roofed boat. The locals can understand some English. You can try to bargain for better rental boat price, though

Our niece recommended we stop here on the way back from Phuket I’m so glad we did. We were lucky enough to have mist & clouds roll in across the mountains which made the scenery around the dam pretty spectacular. There are several viewpoint, cafes and restaurants also you can take boat cruises on the lake. There is plenty of different types bungalows & resorts available around the area. I would definitely like to come back here to relax and explore for a few days.

Great views! We booked a tour for about $80 each and had a private boat. Beautiful views, beautiful water. Make sure to take a bow from the dam before going into the water. Be aware that officially no one is allowed to swim in the lake unless you have as life jacket, which is quite ridiculous. If you're your guide is nice, they will taken you to a secluded spot and let you swim.

The beautiful scenery very peaceful and relaxing here. We hire the boat to go inside the dam, round trip for 1,700 baht it took around 2 hrs. This dam has more than 100k rai. connect with Ranong province in order to go to the end of the dam from Surat Thani to Ranong one way boat trip it will cost 4,500 baht. The Aou Som Det Ranger Station Khao Sok National Park provides accommodation with 3 meals but has to book in advance the room just right next to the water but share a bathroom the bathroom has a lot of bees check the room carefully before book. The boat I ride was really new and clean.

A popular place among locals, the Dam ( in Khao Sok ) was built to provide electric power to Suratthani and other areas. Well maintained and organized place for visitors with coffee shops, shops , public toilets etc.

Ratchaprapha Dam or Cheow Lan Dam is a multi-purpose dam in Surat Thani Province. Its purpose is electricity generation, irrigation, flood control, and fishing. The access point to the lake and dam is in the Ban Ta Khun district of Surat Thani province. If travelling by car, Ratchaprapa Dam is clearly signposted in Thai and English when you reach the town of Ban Ta Khun on route 401. From there follow the signs to the dam which is approximately 15 km away. You’ll pass through a checkpoint as you approach the dam and you’ll also need to pay the National Park fee (300 Baht for adults, 150 Baht for children) at a separate booth before you can go on any of the longtail boats on the lake.
