Taverna Covaci

we visited this restaurant 2 years ago and we came back again this year! love the atmosphere, here you will experience real romanian culture and cuisine. my favorite was mushroom soup, it was super delicious, i ordered it twice.

Food was great, i really appreciate the staff still serving us the Mamaliga although it‘s a breakfast dish (and we went at dinner, that must be a slap onto Romanian cuisine enthusiasts 😂). But everything was well cooked, great flavor. Also fast service. Would love to come again 😄

Perfect dining. Although if you are a foreigner it would be hard to communicate with the staff. But the food is perfect. The plato for one and bread is enough for two. Very delicious must du :)

Really good test and local food , i give 4 stara about the service , because a couple of time they ask us to take out the dishes , but we are still eating .

This place was AMAZING!
The staff were attentive. The food was delicious and served in the most beautiful clay dishes and bowls.
It was more than we could eat, so they packed it up for us to take home.

Only ate here once but had a pleasant experience. Liked the food here better than a more famous restaurant in the old town (the one with the real elegant interior). Ordered carp in brine and papanaşi. The papanaşi was sooo good here, better than the one I tasted in Braşov. I will recommend the papanaşi in this restaurant! It might be described as a tourist trap and it's a bit expensive but that's what you would expect for richly decorated and themed restaurants in a tourist area.

Great food, very friendly staff, broad selection of Romanian cuisine and local drinks. The food was delicious - anchovies were still sizzling on a plate when served and I also enjoyed pickled veggies a lot. And they offered us some drinks on the house which was very sweet! Highly recommend to visit if you are searching for local experience.

I solo travelled to Romania and researched the best places to go for traditional Romanian cuisine, Taverna Covaci came up. I was not disappointed!

The staff were lovely and friendly, making sure as a solo traveler I was well looked after. I ate here twice during my visit, enjoying the Pork Hock with bean stew and the cabbage rolls with bacon and polenta.

It isn't cheap, you are paying for the authentic experience which I would happily do again.

Delicious food. Nice variety of romanian traditional choices. Prompt and professional service. I enjoyed sitting out on the terrace and watching the pedestrian traffic nearby.

To my mind, it’s one of the best restaurants in the old town with the local cuisine. You can find here the big choice of Romanian national dishes, everything we tried was very tasty and nice served. Provided service was pleasant and friendly, all staff speaking a good English, ready to help with any question you have. Also I must mention the very beautiful authentic design , which contributes greatly to the creation of a specific Romanian atmosphere.

There was a woman who wouldn't leave our table unless we paid her to sing to us, which was quite annoying. All we wanted was a nice quiet family dinner and it was so until she appeared. Also, the food is very good.

The place is rly nice and the food taste amazing... You should try the traditional soup they have its just perfect in taste... Highly recommended

This restaurant made me feel home again! It made my trip back home so exciting. The food is a 10/10! 😍 The waiters are very attentive and the restaurant is well decorated! Oh and the show! The girl!! She was amazing!🫶🏻 Will definitely be back for more sarmale and mici! Thank you!!

Excelent tipycal romanian restaurant. The enviorment is very nice. You feel like you really were in a tavern of XVI century. The dishes very well cook and the personal very friendly. Very enjoyable moment

This is a great authentic Romanian restaurant in the heart of the old town. The food is amazingly delicious. The staff are wonderful. If you like music - especially traditional style music this is your place. The decor is lovely as well with a lot of porcelain and other things to catch the eye. You will not be sorry to have a meal here.

I had a pleasure to dine at Taverna Covaci 3 evenings in a row. Every evening the food was delicious, the service was great as well as the general atmosphere. Very kids friendly place. Highly recommend!! ❤

Service was outstanding , our waiter Mihai vas very attentive and we would like to thank him for his recommendations. I recommend Taverna Covaci if you’re looking for authentic romanian food. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Bucharest! 🫶

First time in Old Town, this was the first place we went, where we enjoyed some traditional fare and some offered palinka. Tried a few other places and came back the third night because nowhere else compared. Excellent, friendly service, top notch value for money food. Will definitely be back again!

Very nice place with great service and powrful outside heater (we visited during cold season). The staff was polite and managed to find a table for us on a crowded friday night. The food was delicious and with great variety. If you like fatty meat - try the pork knuckle, it melts in your mouth! :)
