Absolutely amazing food - probably one of the best meals I’ve had in Portugal. The owner is dedicated to provide you with the best possible experience - do yourself a favor and follow his advice on seasonal specials. We particularly enjoyed the fresh mussels, fish soup, black pork (served with a twist) and traditional desserts made from organic produce. Obrigadinho!

Read about this place online and had to try it. The experience was even better than expected. The owner was super friendly and passionated about his food and his place. We recommend you to try the special black pork sausage - an extraordinary experience! Can't tell you why, you simply have to try it for yourself ((; Can also recommend the cheese platter, a nice selection of small local cheese, each with an incredible intense flavour. Everything we had was tasty I would definitely recommend. We came for dinner and left with so much more!! enjoy

Beautifully prepared Portuguese dishes. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He opened the restaurant and hour early to accommodate our group of 10. Soups, meat dishes, mussels, mixed mushrooms and sardine salad were all excellent. And the pricing was extremely reasonable for such fine quality.

Laid-back, enjoyable vibe. Engaging host who takes you on a memorable journey through Portuguese tapas. The most memorable is the Alentejo cured meat preceded by palate cleansing flowers. This is not the place to go if you're looking for full main dishes, which are not on offer here, but rather if you want a sensory exploration of tasty tapas which in sum constitute a plentiful, satisfying meal, and an enjoyable night.

Great food and a friendly, very entertaining owner who was keen to share details of the dishes and specially sourced ingredients. He was confident enough to offer a “money back guarantee” on a few of his recommendations .. which he never had to honour, as we enjoyed everything. He even opened the restaurant early to accommodate our group. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere and is really cosy. Combining several dishes gives a small taste of all the great food the lovely owner creates. Not too expensive and a real WOW for the eye and the mouth.

I don't give out too many 5 stars, but this place earned it. Tiny restaurant serving delicious tapas. Let the owner select some food and enjoy!

Soon after we arrived, the owner came over and dropped off a menu. He somehow knew we were not locals (duh!), asked if we spoke English and he said he’d be back to help us. The menu was unique — handwritten booklet of parchment bound to a flat piece of cork bark the size of a mini iPad. I’m pretty sure it was the only menu he had. We studied the menu and recognized some of it: including sardines. He returned, explained that it was a tapas place and everything is fresh made.

He brought each plate one at a time, each fresh made and all were delicious: chicken pastry thing, mushrooms, grilled peppers (pimento padron), sardines on bread. We declined dessert, to which he said, “I have a small gift for you” and a while later he brought over two, tiny warm shortbread cookies on a little plate. How nice. Then a little while later, two tiny mugs of port — thimble size. Port is a specialty of the area (Porto) and he gets his port from a guy who makes it, by the barrel. After that he brought over a guest book for us to write a comment. Lots of comments from the world over. He obviously enjoys treating his guests well. What a treat.

Alvaro gave us an experience to remember. Very passionate about his craft and showed us the very best of the region.
