Restaurante Sabores do Campo

It's a restaurant that is tucked away and not a place you would stumble across but it is worth visiting. The food is very good and the atmosphere is brilliant and the staff speak very good English and French as well as Portuguese, our course.

Stopped in for lunch, had the two specials of the day. One chicken the other fish. Local atmosphere and ambiance. Our waiter spoke excellent English. Made plans to return for dinner for the wild boar and steak features.

We had heard lots of good things and the restaurant delivered. There is an extensive wine list as well as cocktails. The pork loin was very good and served with a tasty sauce on the side. While the food and drink are good, the servers are great. They took time to explain how the various plates were prepared as well as chit chat and the city and area. We will definitely be back!

We had dinner. The place requires an effort to get to for tourists as it’s 10 miles north of Faro. Having a car is most helpful and the parking at site is easy and free. It’s a stand alone house-like structure that is surprisingly large inside. The ambiance is well-appointed and the multiple wine bottles on their wall provide interesting talking point. A separate “cellar” hosts many types of wine and their wine list is extensive, covering all of Portuguese wine-making regions. For a tourist the selection is overwhelming (in a good way) but some explanation about the wines in the menu card would be helpful. We made a quick choice after checking on the Internet and that was a good choice mostly by pure luck. Service was friendly, attentive and fast. We arrived as first customers for the evening but soon the restaurant filled up to 2/3rds of its capacity. Despite this and also despite only two staff were taking orders, delivering food and drink, clearing used utensils and crockery, answering customers’ queries and taking payment, the whole operations was running most efficiently. To be honest I’ve never come across any restaurant where two staff could be that efficient. Bravo! The food arrived as ordered and we had a good time consuming them. We have found Portuguese food to be over-salted for our taste elsewhere and it was not different here. But to be fair, much of the meat dish in any Indian restaurant in the U.K. is also almost always over-salted, so I suppose it is our palate that is rather sensitive, and we won’t blame the cooking here. The prices were reasonable, the ambiance beautiful, the food good and the people very efficient and helpful. All in all this is a place worth visiting to experience Portuguese dishes if you’re near Faro. We left the place happy. Thank you for a nice evening.

A very nice out of the way restaurant. Great atmosphere and even better food. Get there early or make reservations because it fills up quickly. We made our reservations online.
The menus was interesting, and it was difficult to make a choice. I had octopus, and my wife had pork loin. Both we enjoyed. We will return next time we're in town.

Great selection of dishes that blends traditional ingredients from São Brás with the classic European/Mediterranean food. I've ordered the Angus beef, great ingredients and perfect cooking. One of my favourite places to go to in São Brás de Alportel, if you are looking for good food in a cozy place with a good environment and helpful service.

Very cosy place & meal! We were two and we ate dear with rustic potatos and plumb and the other was black pig with rice. To drink we chose a nice red wine - João Clara 2017.
Nice atmosphere and our waiter was polite but also relaxed. 😀

Excellent food for reasonable price.
We arrived a little before opening and spent 20 min in front of fireplace, with a glass of fantastic house wine - very nice atmosphere. Remember to book a table:)

A jewel in Sao Bras de Alportel - the food, ambience and the service!

Sabores do Campo is a delightful experience in Algarve. Nestled in a quiet and unassuming spot with so much charm to offer. The orchestration of staff movement to acknowledge you and your needs while finishing task for another table requires a juggling skill.

We went for lunch and we can’t wait to be delighted during dinner!

What a nice place for a great value lunch. Some bread, crackers, olives, marinated carrots and home made tuna salad to start. For the main course we had choice between 3 dishes. A salad (with turkey which we chose), roasted duck from the oven and bacalhao. After that a great choice of desserts. Seems like a great place for a dinner as well…recommended!

Discreetely hidden in a small street in São Brás de Alportel, this unassuming looking restaurant is a real gem!
Behing the bougainvillea laden veranda, you will find a warm and intimate setting, wonderful fireplace in the cosy main dining room, and beautiful vistas outside the wall to wall windows.
The lunch menu is priced at 8€p/p, inclusive of local breads, olives and pate, wonderful home cooked main dish, from the typical portuguese cooking, dessert, drink and cafe! The staff speak English and are friendly and accommodating.
The clientele is a mix of locals and expats.
Great find, worth coming back to.
