A great place with fantastic history! Barcelos and its famous Galo epitomizes the essence of the region! Tied in with the biggest open air market in Portugal every Thursday, and their century old restaurants and cafes, Barcelos is definitely worth visiting!

The city of the Rooster. You have to read about the legend of the Barcelos Rooster. Definitely one of the treasures in northern Portugal and if you like traditional food and well made Barcelos is worthy of a visit!

The birthplace of the legend of the rooster. One of those must see places. Not much left to look at but you gonna have that buzz anyway, just being there. Free to visit, and there are dozens of roosters around town to flood your feed with selfies.

What a great place to visit. Huge market. Keep you going for a whole day and more. Its every Thursday. Parking is a bit of a challenge though
