Very moving. Almost too much information to take in, in one visit . I would allow more than an hour to look and listen . An interesting historical record. More horrors of the second world war 1939-1945 exposed and so sad the Consul Aristide Sousa Mendes, whose work is remembered here was treated so badly afterwards in the remainder of his lifetime

Highly recommended. The museum explains in great detail the events leading up to the Second World War and the persecution of the Jews, featuring numerous written and video accounts of how they were able to escape and, in particular, how Portugal took them in, after Aristides de Sousa Mendes (a consul in France) disobeyed the Government and granted them entry visas into Portugal. It takes about one hour to see, or even more if you want to read and watch every account and every piece of information. Beware that certain rooms are somewhat dark — with black walls and mostly only white text and computer screens lighting the place, and with narrow corridors —, which should be fine for most people, but could make it harder for claustrophobic individuals.

A great contribution to collective memory. At the museum you can let yourself be guided through personal and individual stories of refugees, with living statements of survivors; you can also witness and learn about the solidarity of Aristides de Sousa Mendes, the people of Vilar Formoso and other Portuguese locations, that above all were driven by the respect and care for the others and supported the refugees in need. These stories are finally told. The museum transports you to other times and dimensions. In a very interesting way. Pay a visit to the museum and let yourself be touched by the strength of history, tragedy, solidarity, hope and survival!

An incredible museum dedicated to the refugees fleeing from the advancing Germans in Europe in the spring of 1940. Portugal allowed refugees, sometimes with very questionable papers, to pass through. The Portuguese consul in Bordeaux provided 30000 transit visas within a few days before his government stopped him.

Lugar onde voce pode conhecer através do Museu um pouco mais de sua história . Varias opções de restaurantes (fomos na Casa Oliveira, comida muito boa, bem portuguesa), apesar da freguesia estar praticamente vazia. Como em outras aldeias a divulgação em Portugal deixa a desejar e acabamos descobrindo lugares e fatos por muita sorte ou muita pesquisa.

Local que retrata um tempo de sofrimento e liberdade. Foi neste local que muitos refugiados encontraram um país que os acolheu de braços abertos, depois de terem conseguido o visto pelo embaixador de Portugal em Paris, o famoso Arestides Sousa Mendes. Vale a pena a visita que recorre a meios tecnológicos para explicar com rigor toda a história deste tempo marcante.

No sé qué decir, fue llegar y la estación me dejó sin palabras, saben que me gustan muchísimo los azulejos portugueses y este lugar era visita oficial, además comíamos cerca de allí.

Excelente museu. Pequeno mas extremamente bem concebido. Muito interessante e uma grande homenagem a Aristides Sousa Mendes e a população de Vilar formoso. A funcionária a entrada faz uma breve mas muito útil e completa informação acerca do que os visitantes se preparam para ver.

Museu muito interessante, com grande valor de sensibilização humanitária e de cidadania. Mostra muito bem como era viver durante a 2 guerra mundial. A influência e o destino do consul Aristides de Sousa Mendes. No final, mostra a forma como o povo português tentou ajudar com os parcos recursos que possuía, motivo de orgulho destas gentes.

Excelente museu que retrata o percurso dos refugiados que chegaram a Vilar Formoso, durante a segunda guerra, da importância de Aristides de Sousa Mendes e da ajuda prestada pela população de Vilar Formoso.

Es tranquilo, solo que fui en domingo así que no mucho que contar, pero para conocer zonas es bien pasar por ahí

Espectáculo, digno de ser visto. Por ora, não encontro palavras para descrever. Recomendo amina visita.
