Becco de Sintra

Great spot! Definitely recommend. We took our 2 kids here (6/3) and they enjoyed the food as well. Pictured is the fried shrimp (we ordered 2!), grilled octopus and ham/egg local dish. The service was good, atmosphere inside was clean and well kept. Great washrooms if you have littles - more spacious and clean than others we have seen in Portugal restaurants. There’s also a nice little patio in front, enough for what looked to be seating for 10.

The food is great and the staff are really engaging and friendly. We really enjoyed our time at the restaurant and although the seating area may not be as picturesque as nearby places the food is certainly top tier. In fact the best food we have had in Portugal.

The cod portion was large, it was not as salty as other places we have tried the dish. It’s perfectly combined with wilted spinach and pumpkin mash. Also, a really solid portion - see the photo!

The peppers were fresh, so good we reordered this dish, if you order this as a started keep the dip you may want it later.

The octopus was well cooked, the texture was great. Served with potato’s and peppers again lovely.

The prawns were great, I recommend you order these with bread to soak up the ‘god juice’.

The only dish we were not impressed with was the mushroom dish, in amongst the others it was not exceptional.

Shout out to the staff, they made all the food that but better!

Restaurant surprised me how the meal was prepared. We took beef with bacon (beef wasn't salty on purpose and you will find out later why) and their potatoes (they are crunchy and look differently). They have a good wine selection for that combination. Also desserts were worth trying! 5 of 5

The fish soup was amazing to start and we had an octopus and shredded codfish.

Super high quality, freshly made tapas. We had the garlic shrimp, codfish cakes, curd cheese with pumpkin jam, peppers, octopus, sardines. Everything tasted amazing.

We spent 4 weeks in Portugal, and we had one of our best meals at Becco de Sintra. The staff could not have been more helpful as well. We started with bread, roasted peppers, flaming cheese, and a blood sausage skewer, all of which were lovely. We then had a main course of codfish, which was not salty at all and was accompanied by a wonderful sweet potato sauce. We ended our meal with aperitifs. They also had a great wine selection.

Hidden jam with phenomenal food in the tourist hot spot.

(The mains might a bit small after a nice hike, definitely recommend a few tapas to go with)

Nice restaurant with very delicious tapas. We came to lunch and again to dinner. We ordered sardines toast, claims and octopus. Thank you for the wonderful food!

Omg!!!!!!! The food was so good!!! We started off with a bottle wine and the octopus cakes. They were crispy but not too greasy and lots of octopus with an amazing sauce to put on top. The waiter was super friendly and very knowledgeable and really cared about helping us have a great dining experience. Then we got the secret recipe homemade sauce on top of filet mignon with crispy bacon and homemade sweet potato chips. The filet was amazing. And we also ordered a stellar plate of perfectly cooked veggies. Overall highly recommend to anyone who wants a great meal!!!

Chose this place due to the great reviews and the fact that it is only 100mtrs from our apartment in Casa Perdoa. Absolutely charming staff and terrific food and ambience all at a reasonable price. We loved it! I had tuna and my wife had cod, both were beautifully cooked and the portions generous. Very highly recommended.

The food is amazing! I ordered the pastel de bacalhau which was heavenly - it wasn’t heavily fried, with a perfect mix of cod flavor and crispy outer shell. The octopus was also amazing - fantastic texture and the wilted greens and peppers it was served with were amazing.

Note: this restaurant may be difficult to find (or at least my GPS wasn’t having it) - it’s off the main street kind of down and on a tiny street going down from the main thoroughfare.

Staff is friendly, food is delicious and location is good. The toilet is small but pretty clean. The restaurant is also small and crowded during lunch hours. I suggest going after 13:30 or before 12:00. The octopus main course was exquisite.

Wonderful surprise in a town full of mediocre tourist restaurants; Originally we were going to have pizza in an Indian restaurant, but we found this on the way. Good food, fair prices, cute interior. My octopus dish was simple, but very good.

Omg amazing quality food! Highly recommend the octopus, shrimp risotto, and the octopus fritter things (forgot the name). Service was fantastic and atmosphere was classy.

We had 3,5h walk around the nature and visited the castle. After this we happened to walk into this hidden jewel - absolutely perfect dinner and most wonderful personnel. Girls said that tuna could have been more raw, but I loved it.

Outstanding quality of food, I had a Becco Octopu, the flavors is really tasty and octopus is tender! Try with wine, even better!

A local port seller told us about this hidden gem, tucked away in a quieter part of town…WOW, one of the best meals I have had in Portugal! Staff were charming, drinks made with care(excellent caiparhinha), we had the cuttlefish-amazing! And the daily special, chicken, came with vegetables and friends. Plentiful portions, you will not leave hungry! I would highly recommend this place as well as it is in a nice quiet part of town, away from the Disneyland-esque crowds that have unfortunately become a reality in lovely Sintra!

We had a great time! Food is delicious, the staff was very welcoming and the wine (organic one) was perfect. Definitely recommend this restaurant for a simple yet high quality dinner.

wonderful food and amazing service at an adorably decorated restaurant. Octopus was especally great and we also enjoyed steaks and cheese cake. Definitely recommended.
