This medieval square tower in Barcelos, made of thick granite blocks (reaching two meters), was founded in the 15th century by the 8th Count of Barcelona. The decoration is from the Renaissance with a cornice, gutter and merlon. The tower offers great views of Barcelos central square.
Barcelos has always been known for its pottery, especially the "figurado", which is a comic figurine with accented features depicting traditional peasants, folk musicians and also images of the Nativity scene. The tower has an impressive exhibition
