Banco BPI

I was there, and although several booths where open, there is ONE chair for all the (elderly) people waiting. Lady did not offer me the basic account - without credit card - I wanted, but proposed only the most expensive one at nearly 100 € a year. So DO check all the options on the website.... inclusing the really basic and cheaper ones.

No less than 5 (five) months ago I started opening a bank account here. I was promised to be able to send the last documents and my account would be opened while I was abroad. No such thing happened. Getting my debit card would take 5 days, four weeks later it was finally given to me. (The guy promised to call me when the card had arrived but he never did). Activating the account is a hassle. After activating the account a 24 hour waiting period applies before I can actually use the card. 2 different PIN codes are used (one for access to online banking, the other for using the card) but nobody explains that. Service is extremely slow. Making a cash deposit can easily take half an hour, not counting waiting time to get my turn. So here I am, five months later and now the ATM has devoured the card I was never able to use. Every time I call the bank they say "come to the bank". Opening hours are ridiculous, I have to plan my day according to the limited hours the bank is open.Only in the afternoon deposits can be made. Why?
