Another wonderful dining experience.

I first dined here in 2016; they’ve since expanded and moved two doors down. The interior is remarkable; a renovated space in a 16th century cathedral. The old spot is now a vegetarian-only restaurant run by the same chef.

The lunch experience was nearly 3.5h so budget both time and money. Get the tasting menu; you won’t regret it. Since I last visited, only one of the butters remained the same. Every single other dish was new because the crew is constantly inventing.

I appreciate the homage to Portuguese dishes and the story behind each one.

Service is stellar as you’d expect at any restaurant of this caliber.

Will return next time I’m in Lisbon.

One of THE best tasting menus I’ve ever had!!! I sat at the chef’s table with five strangers - we laughed, we cried, we became friends by the end of our extraordinary meal together. (I even bumped into two of them days later in Porto!)

The staff here was attentive and made all of us feel welcomed and appreciated.

The dinner was wonderful and the service was excellent. The presentation was quite nice. It’s in a convenient location that is easy to get to after doing touristy things in Lisbon. I would highly recommend Belcanto!

We had both the Classics and the Landscape tasting menus. The Classics was 225€ and the Landscapes was 250€, even tho when we made the reservation 3 weeks prior it was 190€ and 225€.
The service was exceptional, hats down to the front of the house who had an amazing eye for details. Regarding the food, the Classics tasting menu was better.

We had a top notch dining experience at Belcanto. The atmosphere was professional but inviting. Interior clean and fairly minimalist with white walls and high brick arches. Service was knowledgeable yet entertaining and fun. Our primary server, Joaō, was great and made the meal interactive and Ross, our sommelier did a great job explaining the pairings. We ordered the classics menu and added the shrimp main course. For wine, we tried the premium Portuguese and regular pairings. While all courses were executed well and flavorful some stood out. I loved the deconstructed lobster caesar salad. The tender crustacean, avocado, and shaved ice like tomato extract were perfect together. Next, the golden egg with truffle was rich and decadent. Scarlet shrimp curry flavor was relatively mild lyered and delicious. Afterwards the pork was just the right amount of grease and crisp. In all the meal lasted nearly 4.5 hours but at no point felt like it was dragging. It was our first meal in Portugal and set the bar high!

A memorable dining experience. We started our evening with a tour of the kitchen, the different cooking areas and the cooking staff. We chose the degustation menu Paisagens with wine harmonisation. The menu was outstanding, every dish was carefully assembled and tasted divinely. Our favourites were the suckling pig and the pigeon, but all the others were delicious. The wine selection was also very good. Pedro Oliveira was a great host, super professional and friendly and took care of us throughout our dinner. Every dish and every wine were carefully described and made our experience even better.

What can I say?! This was the best meal I’ve ever eaten in my entire life! Service was amazing, food was divine. Everything about that night was perfect. We went for our 30th anniversary and it was the best meal ever. I don’t eat shellfish and they were very accommodating. We did the Evolution, chef’s choice menu and it was just mind blowing.

Belcanto is by far the best restaurant in Lisbon. The food was truly exceptional, and so was the service. I am rarely impressed by mains, but both the Hake and Sucking pig were truly unique dishes. The dishes on the menu each represent childhood memories of the chef, brought to us masterfully through playful twists (don’t want to ruin the surprises here :)) we loved the service, and had a marvelous time joking and laughing together with the team. The ambiance is also lovely, as the restaurant is inside an old monastery from the 17th century.

We came to Belcanto jetlagged but keen to have a culinary experience and that was exactly what we got. We had both the classic and landscapes menu and we both thought the landscape menu had a slight edge. Unfortunately we were unable to have the wine pairing as we were too tired but the sommelier gave us excellent recommendations on a white to go with the meal. I found the shrimp in particular to be outstanding. The granny's rice pudding was also really refreshing

It's a place of magic. You'll dive into a new dimension and a parallel universe. You'll be endulged with taste variations you haven't experienced. The creativity of chef José Avillez is amazing - I love this combination of excellent cooking, the curiosity of a discoverer and the incredible fantasy of an artist, leading to this journey across the landscapes where you see the food with different eyes.
It started with some amuse-bouche - the tuna tartar, combined with tempura and chorizo was pure umami. Along the journey, the sea bass was a further peak (all plates were actually highlights), as it was pure sea but kept a perfect equilibrium between the individual components. And don't forget about the "pig", what a surprise. I could go on for hours...
And the wine pairing with another journey through some unknown Portuguese wine revealed some real trouvailles and matched perfectly the wonderful dishes.

Worth every cent. We took the 9-course menu, every dish was interesting, different and “something I never tried before”. Loved the dish with egg yolk and truffle dust.
Just the right place for any celebration or just for the stomach symphony. 5 out of 5 definitely.

One of the best meals my wife and I have had (amidst 44 European countries we have visited thus far)! Restaurant staff was very accommodating in spite of arriving without a reservation just before lunch closing. Beatriz was our exceptional waitress-knowledgeable and charming-with excellent recommendations. Highly recommend the carrot and olive starter (extraordinary flavor and creativity). The Rice from the Atlantic was simply delicious (we ended up splitting this due to how large the plate is). Then we ordered both the Apple & Rhubarb pie and chocolate cake. The photos attached do not do them justice (amazing tastes without being too heavy, and amazing attention-to-detail). Cannot wait to return. Worth every Euro and more!

Really wonderful meal (perfectly cooked seafood) and memorable experience! We were here for a bachelorette party and everyone went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. We were able to visit the kitchen and our lovely bachelorette even got a photo with the chef. They also gave us extra bread and butter to take home since we are carb and butter addicts (the olive bread is 👌..)… thank you for such a wonderful experience!

Exquisite flavors and exemplary service. Had a nice long lunch here; every item was more delicious than the last. Waitstaff was very attentive, which enhanced the experience. If you’re in Lisbon, carve out some time and make a reservation here.

The service here was beyond our expectations. Our server, Juao, was so kind and informative. The dishes were extremely innovative and the presentation was phenomenal. Every dish was delicious. We weren’t huge fans of the squab but that was more a personal choice. The 17-course tasting menu took about 2.5 hours and you could tell a lot of thought went into planning each dish. Highly recommend this spot. There’s a reason it’s one of the world’s top 50 restaurants!

Loved the experience, people who like classic cuisine will be more satisfied with the food. We ate the a la carte menu, the starter miniardies were delicious, the starter was Thailand style prawns, then tenderloin and a chocolate dessert.

We dined at the Chef's Table located between the cold and hot kitchens with two other parties, and thoroughly enjoyed our time here.

From the host walking us to our seats, the warm greetings from every single member of the kitchen team, my partner's wine pairings, our extremely knowledgeable and friendly server Nelson, it is clear that attention to detail dictates every aspect of this restaurant.

Without spoiling the surprises of the food offerings, the 12 "moments" was a journey of light and rich, of whimsical and meaningful, of bold and traditional, of the unexpected and the satisfying.

€275pp at Mesa do Chef, with an additional €150pp for the standard wine pairing, be sure to make room in your budget for a visit (and reserve well in advance)!!
