Chafariz das Necessidades

During my recent visit to Lisbon, I had the pleasure of exploring the Chafariz das Necessidades, an enchanting historical site nestled in the heart of the city. As I stepped into the meticulously landscaped gardens surrounding the fountain, I was immediately captivated by the serene ambiance and the sense of tranquility that enveloped the area.

I have visited there at night and no water in fountain. Need more maintenance. Historic place.

Localizado no Largo das Necessidades em frente ao Palácio com o
mesmo nome , este Chafariz ergue-se no centro do Jardim Olavo
Bilac , escritor e poeta brasileiro nascido no ano de 1865.
Data do ano de 1747 e integra-se no conjunto do Palácio , tendo
resultado de um voto do Rei D. João V feito à Virgem Maria .
A sua autoria é atribuída ao arquitecto Caetano Tomás de Sousa ,
autor do projecto de execução do Palácio .
No meio de um tanque que recebe água de quatro carrancas de
inspiração barroca , eleva-se um obelisco encimado por uma cruz de bronze que remata uma custódia de espinhos que acentua o carácter religioso do monumento.
