Stepped into this quaint local restaurant and I was amazed by the service and the quality of the local food. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was great.. can see lots of local patronizing the restaurant. Had the seafood rice and stewed veal. Both turned out to be very nice. Was surprised with the extra dessert and cakes by the owner 👍

This is a highlight of my visit to Elvas. I would travel for 3 hours again just to come here.

I recommend reservations because the restaurant is small and there are a lot of visitors. Only cash but an ATM is right around the corner.

I was asked if I wanted seconds! But I couldn't even finish what I had, the portion was too big. The owner greets and serves every visitor. Speaks Spanish or Portuguese.

And when we met the owner in a different restaurant where he was having lunch the next day, he said hi to us. And the day after when randomly passing by his restaurant he also greeted us 😊

For 9 euros you get a full menu: appetizers, main, dessert and a drink. I would go here almost every day if I could.

The owner, Luis was so kind! The food was very good. We got bread and olives, main course, drink (lots of wine), and dessert for €9.50 per person. We will definitely be returning during our short trip to Elvas! Thank you Luis 😊

What a fantastic meal in Elvas, Portugal! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our excellent meal, with enormous quantities of tasty food, prepared home-made style. Luis himself recommended the meal selection; rice and seafood (lots of seafood), pork medallions and fries, desserts, and a litre of house wine, all for 20€. It was a fantastic meal served by Luis, always with a smile!

An absolute gem. Highly recommended. Wonderful service and very delicious traditional food. My husband and I had the beef with rice and fries. A simple meal, but prepared to perfection. Portions are more than generous. We requested to share then you can dish up yourself. Great value for money as a meal + drinks + desert + coffee came in under 10€ per person. Recommend to take cash. There is an ATM not far from the restaurant if needed.

Went on a Saturday got the seafood rice (shown in the picture) and also got the spare ribs which came with fries. Both the seafood rice and spare ribs were superb. Super seafoody broth and tender fall of the bone ribs. Ate with a couple beers. Luis was super attentive and knew exactly when to serve us and despite my nonexistent Portuguese we were still able to order exactly what we wanted. Incredibly good food, fantastic ambiance and a great experience all around. Could not recommend this place enough maybe even the best restaurant in Elvas. Absolutely fantastic :)

A great place to experience traditional "Alentejo cuisine". Luis is a great host, a very good chef and always with a smile on his face.

Immensely helpful and easygoing owner. We got there but he was fully booked so he redirected us to another restaurant close by and offered us to place a reservation for the next night, which we did.
Simple family food like in most places we've checked out in Portugal. I had chicken. Yes, plain chicken. And the meat was as tender as butter! And I've eaten chicken my entire life, but never yet with such a smooth texture. The sauce it was in was very good although not exceptionally tasty.
Oh, and about the price: 20 euros for two including a beer and a half-liter of red wine. A real bargain.
If we were to ever come back to Elvas, this is a place we would definitely come back to. Not just for the food, but for the personality and spirit of the owner, which is one of the many reasons I fell in love with Portugal.
I highly recommend you book a table beforehand.

Oh we loved this little place, just the perfect lunch spot for an authentic and freshly prepared Portuguese lunch. No English is spoken, but my husband simply ordered the daily special which looked like a big crock of delicious soup. We got our huge crock of pork and bean soup, ate two bowls each then looked up to see the owner with two huge plates of simmered pork and french fries. It was so good we ate that, then he brought a plate of five different types of cake for us to share-- the best sweets we've had in Portugal. He was so kind and charming and so happy that we liked the food. The bill for two daily 3 course specials, a large bottle of water and a beer? 20 euros. Seriously, when you think of traveling to Portugal, this is the kind of place you imagine where all the locals go and everything is so fresh and tasty.

Wow affordable price for a delicious value for money meal deal. A big thanks to Mr Luis for all his hospitality. Big portions and delicious food. Mr Luis with his thirty years of experience really treats his clients well I highly recommend this small restaurant

Great fresh homemade comfort food. Thanks Luis for making us feel so welcome in your restaurant, and your Portuguese customers helping out with translations. We are from N.Ireland. Its very clear you are extremely passionate about what you do. Enormous portions, sorry I couldn't finish mine, but my husband certainly polished off his shellfish with rice and our plate of assorted desserts. Plenty of wine to wash down the great food. A must visit for anyone visiting Elvas. Excellent value for money. You can't go wrong.

Love Luis! He is so friendly and accommodating. We had some good laughs and good food! So much food! The menu del dia is such a good deal for 9.50.

Arrive hungry, leave happy. Food is great, served family style. Don’t ask for a menu, pick from 2-3 options which changes daily. Luis is busiest server you have ever met, yet he makes you feel like you are the only customer in the house. All is included for €9

Terrific place to eat. I was concerned the menu board was only takeaway but Luis came to the door and assured us that we could dine inside. Helped us select our meal and everything was absolutely delicious.... nothing was too much trouble. The pigs feet in coriander sauce were absolutely delicious. The tomato/onion salad terrific... the chips cooked to perfection The price was a surprise....I thought he must have forgotten to charge us for many items that were brought to the table. Thank you Luis for a wonderful meal. I would make a detour to eat in your restaurant again.
