Pomplio was recommended to us by our host and it didn’t disappoint. A super restaurant in the lovely quiet village of Sao Vicente, past the cork trees and olive groves beyond Elvas.

Service from Jose was fantastic and draft Sagres in copper mugs to keep it cold (it was 40 degrees outside) got us off to a good start.

My Lombo was superb, kids loved the Bife and the Lulas and Mrs H enjoyed the local Bacalhau Dourado with salt cold but also the fabulous Herdade dos Grous white. Chocolate mousse and four spoons for dessert - classic stuff. Wine list looks superb - can’t wait to give it a try!

Excellent restaurant in all respects. Situated in a village in the Alentejo countryside it specialises in local game. Highly recommended.

I found this restaurant to be like a hidden pearl. It is getting more popular among spanish people and for a very good reason. The service is very good and the food quality is very good, the price fits and it is not very expensive (10-15€/person without wine). The only downside would be parking.

One of the best restaurants on Alentejo. Tradicional and local food. If it's hunting season you can really appreciate it here. Good service for the area. Sometimes is too noisy with Spanish customers.

This is one of the few restaurants in Alentejo that really deserve your visit. The feijoada with hare, arroz de marisco and bachalau dourado should be on top of your list when choosing your dinner, you will NOT be disappointed. Most of the bad reviews left here on Google are by jealous, competitive restaurants in the area who can not live up to Pompilios standard!
